US Politics

Not sure if anyone else has been following KBJ's confirmation hearing but the GOP has been horrific, especially Graham/Cruz/Hawley/Blackburn. Special shoutout to Tillis who literally said "I'm not a lawyer but I do watch Law and Order". Anyways, I'm not going to to give those fecks any time but this was a great moment from Corey Booker. It may seem over the top but when you put it in the context of the racist filth she has dealt with the last few days his cheerleading was a fantastic moment.

Pathetic attempt from Perdue. But hey, repeat a lie often enough...

Defeated Republican senator claims Georgia election was ‘stolen’ from him ahead of Trump visit
‘Most people in Georgia know that something untoward happened in November 2020,’ David Perdue says, peddling Trump’s false claims

"In fact, I’ll just say it ... in my election, in the President’s election – they were stolen.”

Imran khan states that US interference is what is behind his government being removed with a no confidence motion. What do people think of that

Say's the same party who are bitching about rising gas prices.....

I'm also fairly sure that fixing the price of insulin at levels low enough for all diabetics to afford it works for them. And by all I mean all insured diabetics.

If her and Boebert are in the same room at the same time will it cause a fracture in the time continuum?
God. We could only hope. Could you imagine those two plus Marjorie Greene in the House at the same time? They could even have their own group nickname, “The Blundercnuts”

A District Court judge this week not only ruled that parts of Florida's recently-passed voter suppression bill could not stand, but he also put the state back under preclearance, which means that they have to get approval from the government before they can make any changes to voting laws in the future. The judge also said in the ruling that the law was definitely racist, and had the effect of suppressing voters of color.

Preclearance is huge news for fair elections in Florida, not so Republicans.

I actually think Palin could be a moderating force among her two crazy house disciple daughters.

there’s literally documented proof of her being unable to moderate her biological daughters…… although come to think of it the GOPers really like controlling other peoples children more than theirs….

Actually, I humbly retract my last post.

Why can't politicians start encouraging the use of public transportation (Invest more in security if that's the issue) instead of subventioning gasoline? I mean this is Chicago, not some random city in Montana. Or is there something more to the car in the US that I am missing?

This planet is doomed.

Public transport in America absolutely sucks and thus having cars in almost every city is a necessity.

Also, many of our large cities are massive in terms of size which makes useful public transport more difficult outside the city "center". Of course this is likely a chicken/egg scenario where the massive use of cars means people can live further away, and because people lie further away then need cars.

Isn't it mostly a zoning issue where your can only build low density housing in a lot of areas? And it can't be mixed with business properties?
