US Politics

Yet she received the 2nd most votes in the history of US presidential elections.

It’s true that she’s a very polarizing figure, but she has a very solid hardcore fan base who sees it as her destiny.
Who cares about total votes? The population has increased dramatically over the years. Her being a polarizing figure is the problem. She drove the opposition to the voting booths.

This allegedly occurred after Franken became a senator.

I'd hoped this would be a bipartisan thing but it looks like it's GOP orchestrated:

This is pretty juicy though:

Menz told CNN that what happened immediately after she took the photo with Franken that summer day in 2010 has also stayed with her. Standing nearby was another politician -- then-Minnesota Rep. John Kline.
As she was getting ready to take a picture with Kline, Menz said the congressman asked her whether they should "mutually put our arms around each other" -- an interaction that struck her as being in stark contrast with what she had experienced moments ago with Franken.

"Witnesses questioned by Mueller's team warn that investigators are asking about ... foreign contacts and meetings that have not yet become public, and to expect a series of new revelations," the WashPost's Ashley Parker and Carol Leonn.

What we're hearing: I'm told that Mueller's team is rooting around inside Trump world more deeply than is publicly known. Outside West Wing advisers tell me that may create a showdown.

More from the Washington Post:

  • "One Republican operative ... described Mueller's team 'working through the staff like Pac-Man.'"
  • "[A]t least nine people in Trump's orbit had contact with Russians during the campaign or the transition."
  • White House lawyer Ty Cobb: "I've done my best ... to share my view that the perception of the inquiry — that it involved a decade or more of financial transactions and other alleged issues that were mistakenly reported — just wasn't true, and that the issues were narrower."
  • "Cobb added that those who have already been interviewed by Mueller's team have left feeling buoyed. ... [N]obody I know of was shaken or scared."
  • "The president ... has warmed to Cobb's optimistic message ... Cobb had initially said he hoped the focus on the White House would conclude by Thanksgiving, but adjusted the timeline slightly in an interview, ... saying he remains optimistic that it will wrap up by the end of the year, if not shortly thereafter. "
A White House official tells me: "The only people focused on or consumed by this are the press. The White House staff are working to carry out the President's agenda on behalf of the American people."

Funny how a few GOP supporting friends/acquaintances of mine are eager to spread their judgment on Franken yet don't say much about Moore and Trump accusations.

Leave it to the evangelicals to defend a republican candidate. Nearly 60 "progressive" pastors have denounced Moore.

Allen Root
"They were beautiful young girls and they could have passed for 20."
"...he at least wasn't a homosexual like Hillary Clinton or former President Barack Obama."

Earl Wise
- believes these women are being paid, and believes there should be a statute of limitations
- he too likened the sick line of thinking they looked older; "could pass for 20."
"How these gals came up with this, I don't know. They must have had some sweet dreams somewhere down the line."

This is a big one. Conyers is currently the longest serving politician in congress.

What is weird is that alt right Cernovich is who had these documents and handed them over to Buzzfeed. Got a hunch someone in the Bannon camp gave Cernovich these documents, so they could try to divert attention away from the Roy Moore issues.

Bannon knows a lot of people would dismiss the story if he ran it on Breitbart, so handing it over to a third party would be a smart move.

Yes, that sounds right.
Weird that they would have to go through someone as far out of the mainstream as Mike though.

Wasn't sure if this goes in the Trump thread or here, but I put it here because this seems to be a recurring theme with the hyper-religious folk particularly in politics & religion

Pleaded guilty to child trafficking, I mean - seriously?
Wtf are these people on

He's had a couple of big stories ahead of the media. He was the first to identify Susan Rice in the "unmasking" story and the US launching airstrikes in Syria.

Hm, both those were WH stories during Bannon's tenure.

Hmmm...

The agreement between Cernovich and Buzzfeed appears to have come with a hidden facet: Cernovich acquired the congressional documents after offering to pay $10,000 for them.

The offer was made in a series of now-deleted tweets last week. “I will pay $10,000 for the details of these settlements. Cash or Bitcoin or check or whatever you want,” he tweeted.

Cernovich declined Tuesday to say whether he actually paid anyone; he also said he didn’t know whether BuzzFeed knew about his offer.

He also declined to say who his source was.

In the comments section, this is interesting...
davy jones - Valid question: Did Cernovich pay someone to illegally hack into whatever server the settlement papers were stored on? Or bribe someone for paper copies? Cernovich himself is clearly the story here; let's see if the Post and others follow up on it.

pokhara - This notorious Twitter troll who was banned as a Russian bot but who Cernovich somehow got reinstated claims he's working with Cernovich and that he personally called victims. Still doesn't answer the question of how they got these people's names. I think hacking is a good guess.

@TEN_G0P I have a bombshell story dropping tomorrow. I just need a conservative publication that I can trust to help me publish. Looking for reporters to work with. If involves a high ranking democrat and sexual harassment. #MAGA

The Justice Department and FBI have formally acknowledged that nearly every examiner in an elite FBI forensic unit gave flawed testimony in almost all trials in which they offered evidence against criminal defendants over more than a two-decade period before 2000.

Of 28 examiners with the FBI Laboratory’s microscopic hair comparison unit, 26 overstated forensic matches in ways that favored prosecutors in more than 95 percent of the 268 trials reviewed so far, according to the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) and the Innocence Project, which are assisting the government with the country’s largest post-conviction review of questioned forensic evidence.

The cases include those of 32 defendants sentenced to death. Of those, 14 have been executed or died in prison, the groups said under an agreement with the government to release results after the review of the first 200 convictions.

How do they square these things off? Trump & Co being sexual predators and rule of law?

I don't know...I've only seen the polls from Oct 2016 and 2012 (Trump and Romney).
I'm assuming it's the simple nationalist appeal of the right.

I think it's more to do with the uniformed services population being dominated by white males. Most younger members (under age 30) I've met admit disliking or seem to not like Trump, voted for someone else or did not vote, and many don't identify to either party. But that's from a small sample size (20-30 persons) in the USAF that I've spoken too or have heard talk about politics. So perhaps things will change as we move forward. The main Trumpians I've noticed are older service members and retirees, with the occasional separated member still under age 40, and 100% white.

What does it take for them to go off Trump then? Trump's support of Roy Trump wont do it?

The party of family value. :D

Hetro-peado only means that Roy is a hot blooded man. Homo-peado on the other hand...
The next normalisation bar down will be Hetro-incest peado bar. Their justification is with a the dangerous genetic diversity .. it's best to stick to the purity of the gene pool.

I was well upset for a while with Trump being president of the electoral college of the US, thinking he'd destroy the world, but after almost a year, I've come to the realization that he's not got what it takes to destroy the world, yet is doing just enough to destroy the GOP.
