US Politics

It's no secret most of the states in the South are ranked very low in terms of quality of life. The only states in the south that still has some semblance of normal are Texas and Georgia. Louisiana is a prime example. Bobby Jindal's Republican policies have totally decimated that state. It's been over 12 years and they still can't recover from Hurricane Katrina, simply because Jindal chose to not accept federal funding, cut taxes and assume it would bring more investment to his state.

Alabama isn't half bad if you live in a university town like Tuscaloosa or Auburn. Georgia outside Atlanta is a dump.

Mississippi is a god-forsaken shit hole through and through. Louisiana is the emblem of racial suppression.

Guess Franken's going to have to resign. This might just open the floodgates like we saw with Weinstein and we see a lot of political resignations.

From what I've read, losing Franken won't hurt the Dems too much as they would have a replacement in place until 2020 if he does resign.

Also, can anyone tell from that picture if he is actually touching the woman or are his hands hovering?

Would be surprised if this goes anywhere. Tweeden is a known conservative nutter (despite being a former playboy/fhm pin up girl) who has appeared on Hannity to proclaim her affinity for the Tea Party, so this smells like a bit of a "let's use the trending #metoo movement to knock off a Dem or two" to me.

There is an extra hurdle with political abuse as congress has forced many people who have come forward in the past the sign NDAs - but this obviously doesn't stop people who didn't file official complaints at the time, like in the above story.

They're absolute masters of Whubbism.

I'm not sure that really matters.

I don't know whether Franken has any Presidential ambitions. Senate wise, I doubt anything happens other than a GOP led inquest. Trump will be wise to steer clear of this since he has about 3 dozen accusers waiting in the wings.

Da'fuq? Athens is good, Warner Robins is alright. And the other smaller towns piss all over Alabama small towns.

I've lived in Bama, Georgia, and South Carolina. All great places to live, although I can I could easily see visiting Europeans having a bit of culture shock.

Columbus is great. Macon... eh...

I try to avoid Macon as much as possible. Despite close proximity to Macon, Warner Robins is night and day difference.

Only been through Columbus a couple times. I'll be back in a couple months to see a cousin (who's half my age!) graduate from Army basic.

Good to hear. That's where she's going to continue her research.

Not excusing what he did, but that is that the first decent apology/statement by someone in a position of power after this #metoo campaign started?

Agreed. Compare that to the likes of Trump and Moore who have threatened to discredit and take their accusers to court.

Menendez looks like he's going to seek re-election - should get primaried.

Another one with a not-insignificant lead for Jones

Usual caveats - month to go, just a poll, shy voters, Alabama etc.

I can see Jones winning this. All he needs is for about 5% of Moore voters to stay home on Dec 12th and another 5% to not vote by mail.

To be fair in Alabama the shy voters could also be those voting Democrats
