US Politics

Watching Fox News tonight, they seem convinced Kavanaugh will be a Justice by the weekend.

After what happened to Garland, and the lengths that McConnell is willing to go, it was a losing battle right from the start. McConnel has single-handedly destroyed multiple institutions under his watch.

This one week pause has worked out quite well for the Republicans. No new allegations have come out and this controlled investigation, which will find nothing, can be used as cover by the undecided Republicans to vote yes.

I just saw on the news that the highest paid college football head coach gets $8.3 million a year. That's fecking obscene. Imagine how many staff are also getting big pay too. It's no wonder higher education is so fecking expensive.

The salaries of the staff plus stadium maintenance and other stuff comes from television, gate receipts, merchandise, endowments and other revenue streams. It hardly has anything to do with the cost of education. In fact student athletes in division 1 schools have their tuition (whole or part) paid through scholarships.

Wow, it's almost like this investigation had nothing to do with the true or suitability, and everything to do with covering the few asses that care about their reputation.

Not only will they confirm him, but the 2 dems whose states are hugely for him will vote yes too.

I've found it grotesque that the highest paid state employee in each US State is either a college basketball or football coach. Maybe someday they'll end this charade of "amateur sports" and call it what it really is - a professional minor league with major funding and revenue streams. And justly compensate their non-paid employees. Oh, and actually take care of them for life when a player is severely injured and no longer can play.

So what is the caf verdict then? He's a drunken gang rape leader that suddenly stopped after college? I'm having a hard time believing all this. Something just doesn't make sense.

Hard partying college guy who often got so black out drunk that he did bad things ranging from throwing ice at people who disrespected him to covering the mouth of a 15 year old girl so no one would notice he and his pal were accosting her against her will. The behavior continued after college and he opted to deny and conceal his past because he thought no one would ever look back that far - and when they did, he continued to lie and obfuscate because he made the bet the President and GOP congress would have his back.

I'd be a bit disappointed if Avenatti or one of the news outlets doesn't drop a bombshell at the last possible minute.

It wouldn't really matter at this point since all avenues have been exhausted. If the Republicans are willing to vote yes with him having sexual assault and perjury allegations hanging over his head then nothing that gets reported today or tomorrow is likely to change that.

Very hard to take Schumer seriously . Especially when he calls McConnell a good friend that sometimes laughs at his jokes . If you have friends like him who needs enemies

They might confirm him but I bet allegations will keep coming out over the next few months. If something really bad comes out then repubs will have to explain themselves.

They are supposed to work together. If you can't find an ounce of common ground and at least respect each other then there really is no hope.

And how as that worked out . Republicans get what they want and Democrats say thank you.

I'm generally all for opposing sides putting aside differences and working together etc when they can, but yeah, if you're an average American citizen who's getting fecked over by this increasing extreme Republican party then it's probably quite difficult to see a Dem who's fairly pally with them as someone who represents you and who understands your struggle.
