Its not about last year's circumstances. Trump was President then and things were pretty divided then as well. The difference is that Gorsuch didn't have a rape accusation hanging over his head as he went through his interviews. Kavanaugh is being accused of sexual assault and being present during a gang rape. Spot the difference ?
 
This process is a confirmation of Trump's agenda: the destruction of imperfect yet vital American political institutions and norms.

Never mind that this appointment is dividing the country like never before, and the nominee cast any appearance of serene stoicism to the side in his hearing yesterday, and that regardless of his innocence/guilt (which again, I'm flabbergasted at the amount of people who are certain of it one way or another), the cloud over him is too great to allow him into the Supreme Court... feck all that. Ram it in.

Yes. And what Ford is doing is, IMO, is devaluing what these victims have suffered through. Every woman who lies about rape and ruins the life of innocent people does that. If I remember correctly, Anthony Rapp has been speaking about it for years and only recently it caught up. Furthermore, Spacey himself shot himself in the foot when he semi-admitted it. Spacey also got shut down for PR reasons than anything else. And call be sceptical, but I doubt he's going to be out for very long now. Give it a couple of years and it will be swept under the rug

You have your agenda and you will never listen to me, I'm at peace with that. But at the end of the day, facts are facts. You can't go around supporting someone who is accusing someone of raping her when she has virtually no evidence to support her.

Trump's own election was a pretty good sign that his agenda would be mostly implemented, especially with a GOP congress...so no big surprise here.

Your posts are almost entirely baseless accusations, incredible naivety and ridiculous irony.

In 'our imaginary world' you don't just reach a conclusion that matches your political bias and stick with it, regardless of how much of a prick it makes us look. We ask that someone with authority investigates and gathers the facts. Apparently that simple notion of old fashioned transparency, fairness and justice is a ploy of the evil Leftists rather than a cornerstone of a modern democratic society.

You seem like a horrible person judging by you're opinion on a very severe and delicate problem in our society. I feel sorry for any female or understanding male that has to engage you on a daily basis. The idea that it's all about asking for an FBI investigation is complete BS. The senate have the same power to ask for testimony as the FBI. The FBI will ask questions to witnesses, these are sworn oaths under a 302. Members of the Senate have the power to get people to testify and they don't need majority help. They can ask for the testimony of witnesses right now.

The FBI investigation is just about delaying things until after the election.

Let's not play confused here. The midterms are coming, we both know that. We both know that it is absolutely vital for the Dems to block another Republican candidate to be in the Supreme Court (dare I say, the position is more important than the President one). Trump's appointment of Kavanaugh is a big blow to them, if it passes (Which it will). What gang rape was he present in? I don't get it. There's no evidence of what she is saying. Why do you believe her?

She has no witnesses, she comes out 36 years later in the perfect time to disrupt Kavanaugh's appointment, she's obviously a Democrat, she has even donated to the party. She has nothing to support her theory. It's simply her word and her word is worth shit. If the Democrats retake the Senate, it should be made law that the investigative powers of the Senate should not be held bound to partisan politics. A valid issue should be thoroughly investigated even if a majority of committee members vote against said investigation because of their party.
