Us Open 2012

I've followed him almost his entire career so no. I didn't start supporting him when he was on 15 Grand Slams!

I was lucky enough to see Roger at the Australian Open in 2002 when he was
still relatively unknown and I have followed him ever since. I am a bit old school as I liked Borg, Edberg, Rafter and other more attacking players and I remember when Roger beat Sampras at Wimbledon in the days when players could still serve and volley on grass. Now we have baseliners who are terrific at what they do but in my opinion the variety that Roger brings is unmatched by anyone else and the fact that he could be number 1 in the world and win another Slam at 30/31 is a testament to his genius on the court.

Have to agree that some people here seem to have it in for Murray no matter what he does. He might be a bit moany but I think it's almost better to have a bit of that edginess as opposed to Henman who would be happy no matter what most of the time.

Shame I'll never get to watch him :(

So agree. He's the greatest for me. He'd be great in any era on any type of surfaces. He's got the whole lot. And there's the small matter of how unbelievably graceful he is.

Ferrer is seriously pissing me off with his fetch routine.

Whats in your ones hand at the net? She's following the ball with it.

Routing for Murray whoever he plays in the final, hes too good a player to lose his first 5 finals and really deserves this. The criticism he gets on here, and with the public perceptions in general is pathetic.

'Hes boring' - oh right ok, you do realise hes a professional tennis player, not a fecking comedian?

Hes not boring by any means, I think his dry sense of humour and gangly, awkward presence actually adds to his appeal.

Think people need to stop getting on his back because hes an apparent grumpy, moaning boring guy and appreciate the guys talent. Fact is (aside from JMPDs fluke in US'09) no guy outside Djoko/Fed/Nadal has won a slam in 7/8 years. Murrays the consistently closest to ending that, for any neutral tennis fan thats a great prospect.

That's a matter of taste. I don't care for him, argue what you want. I don't get why people get their knickers in a twist when someone has different tastes than their own.

I really hope Murray does it. I can't help thinking losing another final or two could completely destroy his confidence.

Come on Novak! He's been exceptional all tournament (apart from one set yesterday) so I expect him to win.

I think that Murray is in a much better position to win this US Open than he has been for any of the other grand slams he's been in. He's been playing some of the best tennis of his career and remember it's the first time he's got to a grand slam final twice consecutively.

Despite that though, if I was a betting man my money would still be going on Novak. He's unstoppable on the hard court at times and I expect him to win. Unlike some other events though, I wouldn't say it's a dead certainty.

Not true. He's been quite poor in some of his matches here in NY. Not great at all vs Lopez, got lucky vs Cilic and his brainfarts and wasn't really at his best yesterday either. Murray was playing much better tennis at Wimbledon and at the Olympics.

Djokovic a strong favourite tomorrow. I hope Murray wins, would really add to the spice next year.

and Djokovic didn't get lucky last night?

He was all over the place, didn't adapt to the conditions atall and probably feels like gods on his side with that suspension of play.

In saying that I do fancy Djokovic to do it in 4. Some of his defence play has been unbelievable and he'll have the extra confidence and peace of mind of having already won a few slams.

Yup Djokovic was pretty poor last night but then he's been playing brilliantly apart from that one poor set all tournament and that's why I expect him to win on Monday.

Totally agree; let's have a Roger love-in. I have also seen him twice at Indian Wells when he unfortunately played poorly but that was o.k. I don't really care who wins tomorrow but I hope it is a good game and not a 5 hour slog fest.

Don't think he's had a good test either if im being honest.

But I agree with your prediction

Which is exactly what I mean. When I say some of the best tennis of his career I'm also referring to previous events recently where he has delivered. The fact that he can be rather average and still win though is a major positive. Against the players you mentioned he'd have ended up slumping out against one of them in recent years due to one bad day.

Not really, he has been consistently beating them in the slams. Its rafa, roger and djoker that he struggles against in the slams. He hasn't beaten any so far. I think he has a decent shout tbh, although I think djoker will win.

As I said though, this is the first time he's reached two GS finals consecutively. He's never done that before. Then you think that he wasn't destroyed by Federer at Wimbledon and that it was his best performance in a GS final, and that he destroyed Federer in the Olympics final. He's undoubtedly made a lot of progress.

I agree, thats why I think he has a decent shout. 5 slam final loses won't be nice though, so he got to win tomorrow.

So hope Murray does it tomorrow but very much have my doubts that he will, Djock is often ridiculous on these type of occasions.

Ding dong match though. Amazing power from both of them. Come on Serena!

:lol:It is- missed Azarenko's semi with Sharipova but was apparently like two pneumatic drills having a shout off. Serena is a beast though- fights to the last.

Great fight back from Serena to win it.

Hope Novak wins tomorrow, although I wouldn't mind Murray winning - he's become less annoying recently.

F**king Williams brother won it.

Azarenka's horrible service match when she had a chance to win it will haunt her forever.

I think that is a bit harsh- Azarenka won the Aussie open and it was a hell of a display from an all-time great to beat her narrowly. Think Azarenka will win a good few more opens. Looks a fine talent (not sexually).

Really felt for Azarenka at the end there. Did well to make it a contest, after losing the first set. To lose after serving for the match must be a crushing feeling.

On a side note, how does Annabel Croft manage to look hotter year after year?

Hoping Murray wins it, but Djokovic is a special player and he often raises to the occasion brilliantly. What's all this nonsense about him not playing Ferrer well? Apart from the first set, he played blindingly well I thought.

Come on Murray, do Fergie, Judy and Connery proud :D

Good legs:drool:

Surprisingly good women's final. Not a huge fan of women's tennis but that was a good game.

Azarenka was the better player but she choked that service game and Serena is just brutal when she gets a sniff of a win. She's won 15 out of 19 GS finals. Amazing record.

I don't normally like Murray but I'll be rooting for him tomorrow. Don't know why, but he's gained a lot of respect from me over the last couple of months (not the he gives a feck).
