Us Open 2012

Really good fourth set really after the first three were both kind of lopsided with one of them playing well. Shame when that happens.

Congrats Nole.

WOW, and Federer was looking so good. I caught McEnroe talking about him earlier and he thought he was back to his best. Plus he got some extra rest last round. Murray has a good shot at making the final now.

Shame for Federer.

Lost rythm in this tournament after the Fish withdrawl. Berdshit has always given Federer problems, and so the result is not as shocking as it may first appear.

Best chance Murray will have to win a Slam for some time IMO

In fact even for likes of Ferrer and Del Potro, this is a great chance to win . Novak remains the fav. ofcourse

Wow, just saw the recording and I'm a bit shocked at how Federer played. Berdych has caused him problems in the past but he's been playing brilliantly of late. feck.

Rooting for Del Potro now.

That's a possiblity. His groundstrokes just seemed well off today. Was particularly surprising given how good his level was in Cincinanti.

Think Nole wins here, Murray AO, trying to win that AO for a third time in a row has broken many a man. Though having 4 different winners in a year, the definitive top 4, would be ideal.

I don't know why but I don't want Murray to win. Djokovic would be the only guy to win 2 GS' this year and being a Federer fan I guess I shouldn't want him to win. But Murray just annoys me for some reason.

But yeah, Djokovic is definitely the favorite now.

Murrays raised his game. Actually looks like a proper Slam Contender now whereas before he always looked like a player who had that bit missing. Smart money imo is to put a bet on Murray to win, he has excellent momentum after the Olympics.

most people watch to see good tennis, they don't usually pick sides and hold grudges like football.

I'll be hoping the best man wins. As a Brit i'd like that to be Murray

What a stupid statement. You mean most people, who aren't big fans of any individual. So basically, it's the same as football really.

As I said, it's not a grudge. Can't think of a reason to hold a grudge against Murray. He's not exactly achieved great things to cause that. But for some reason, I don't find him likeable. I like Djokovic much more so I'd prefer Djokovic over Murray. But I like Del Potro's aggressive game and want him to push on and win more GS's so he'd be my first preference.

Would love a Berdych - Del Potro final.

The ball would take some beating. I think it could be a really fun match up. Don't think it will happen. Berdych has these days when everything hits the sweet spot and I don't think he'll keep it up.

Credit where credits due. Berdych was really good in the 4th set. I expected him to fall apart after that shocking drop of the 3rd set but he managed to raise himself and for the second year running takes Fed out of a Slam. Really hope Djokovic/Del Potro win the tournament!

Not really. He looked garbage last night until Cilic had a brainfart in the second set. I still don't know who he managed to mess up the second set. 5-1 up , had set points and was 4-2 up in the TB as well. The match was there to be won for him.

Federer was really in top form and played excellent tennis - shame it was not his night at all and everything went wrong.

Hope Djokovic doesnt win so Federer can stay as the number 1

Agree with everything you said there! Don't want Murray winning so anything else would be fine. Would be absolutely delighted if Del Po won it though but I can't see him beating Djokovic.

Yet he turned it around and then dominated the match... that's what makes champions. To have the ability to come back from what looks like an impossible situation.

Anyone even slightly better than Cilic would have punished Murray last night. He also struggled against Lopez. He's certainly capable of winning the Slam but he'll really need to pick up because so far Djokovic has been in stunning form and even Berdych could trouble him (he has a 4-2 losing record against Tomas)

Have a sneaky feeling Murray will do it but I too would prefer Del Potro or Djokovic. If Djokovic plays his A game Murray doesn't stand a chance though.

Del Potro winning it would be great. Injuries have been cruel at such a crucial part of his developmental stage. Comes across as a nice guy as well (know full well I could be wrong).

well not everyone supports a football team or tennis player because they're successful. That's glory hunting :D

Listen to the crowds at these things, they'll applaud great play from both sets of players.

Don't have anything against anyone who doesnt find Murray likeable though. Hes certainly a bit dull but I'm not looking for tennis players to be larger than life.

I'd like to see Del Potro do well, he was progressing fantastically well until his injury.

That's not what I mean't. I'm saying I can't possibly hold grudge against Murray because he's done nothing great to make that happen. I held a grudge against Nadal for awhile definitely due to his rivalry with Federer with him doing great things.

It's not the dull thing either. Del Potro looks asleep during matches half the time.

A war between Tipsarevic and Ferrer. Currently 4-4 in the 5th set, after Tipsarevic was 4-1 up.

Ferrer takes the tie-break 7-4 and wins in 4h 31'. Tremendous match.

Djokovic should win it comfortably.

Anyone see Tipsarevic's slip? I laughed like feck as sad as that is.

ps. Whats this shite? Mcenroe, Adam sandler n Kevin James out on court.

Poor Tipsarevic. His backhand seemed so wrong but got him many points

I hope Murray wins it now. Djokovic has already won a lot.

The backhand pass that was over the top of the net post was phenomenal.

That point there. Wow.

Djokovic's defense is crazy.

That could have just been the best straight-sets victory match of all time. Fascinating to watch.

The end of that 2nd set was trademark Djokovic 2011!

Damn, I missed this. Didn't expect a straight sets win for Djokovic. Shame for Del Potro.

Got him at 4/1 prior to the tournament.
