Manchester United would be playing better with Ancelotti, Guardiola, Mourinho and Klopp in charge.

I like Diego Costa's dirty side of football as long as he doesn't do it against Manchester United.

With the incredible amount of imbalance in our squad, that would be far from a certain thing.

Here's one from me: Fergie was spot on when he tried to marginalize Rooney when he was retiring. He's been an absolutely superb player for us but at this point in time he creates more problems than solutions. His versatility (but not top class at any position) combined with his stature at the club (simply can't be dropped) is a key reason why we can't find a suitable system to play this season.

This isn't unpopular at all with me. Very much in agreement.

Rooney should never of been made captain. He isn't good enough as a midfielder to play there, and as a #10 or a #9 there is much better players around. Massive elephant in the room, he shouldn't be starting for us.

Every first team defender at the club except McNair, Rojo and Shaw should be made available for transfer. You can't have players who can't play the ball, can't stay fit or are just useless in your defence.

We will never play to suit Di Maria. He'll eventually be wasted on the wing.

1) Agree about Rooney.

2) Agree except Jones.

3) Sadly, agree too.

Also, we will not finish in the top 4 this season, causing Louis to get his shit together and have us guns blazing next.

Mata is better then Rooney as a #10, RVP is better then Rooney as a striker and Herrera is better then Rooney as a CM!

But we need Rooney in the team

Personally, I wouldn't agree with the bits in bold. I think he's the same level as both in those positions.

Liverpool and Arsenal are both going to finish above us. Maybe even Southampton will.

We'll play attractive football under Van Gaal once he's got the team he wants.

It's unpopular but you're spot on.

Rooney's a world class striker. It's everywhere else he's played where he's not top class. If Rooney had been playing as the main striker all these years, he'd have smashed our record by now.

Not sure about that. I think he's a world class goal scorer, but it isn't necessarily the same thing. I think he's more like Lampard than Shearer.

Rooney only ever looked world class (as a striker) to me during one season, the 09/10 season when he scored 34 goals, but I don't think he was ever the same after that injury he suffered against Bayern away. Looked dismal for a long period after that, definitely not like a world class striker.

To his credit, he re-found his form, but still not sure I'd play him up front. I think his best position is just behind the striker (in fact, anywhere except midfeckingfield).

I don't agree with this at all. Both Mata and Di Maria are much better than Cazorla. Sanchez is better than Mata and Di Maria on current form but if you asked me who I would rather have in the summer then I would have said Di Maria.

In what world is Mata a 'much better' player than Cazorla?

Utd & Arsenal will still finish 3rd & 4th imo, positions depending on how quickly and to what extent one or the other gets their shit fully together.

As for unpopular opinions Van Persie is still the best striker you have, you've just never played to his strengths for lack of midfield quality. Including the season he won the league with you lot.

Agreed. I'd be happy to see Rooney and/or Falcao played as a striker at RVP's expense for the rest of the season.

Pepe was as good as Godin last season.
Neymar will be the best player in the world after Ronaldo and Messi.
Rodriguez is a much better player than Koke and will go on to be better than Di Maria.
There isn't a striker in world football who could do Benzema's exact role better.

I would actually agree that we've never played to his strengths. As you rightly suggest, the midfield has never been good enough.

With that said, he's lost any kind of dynamism and his overall influence on our football is nowhere near what it was. He's not our best striker; certainly not the best fit for our first team at the moment.

Which team do you support?

We shouldn't go for Hummels. He has already passed his peak - mainly because of his injuries.

The RVP Kagawa and Mata signings were all short sighted and damaging long term.

It is important to have talented hone grown talent that are fixtures in the side. The current lack of intensity and urgency is part of this.

6 of Spurs' best 11 are English or came through the academy and are younger than I am (and I'm just 24). Lloris, Vertonghen, Eriksen, Lamela and Chadli (average age of about 24 themselves) the exceptions.

Think our second oldest outfield player after Adebayor, who's contract runs out in the summer, is Vertonghen, at 28.

Agreed totally with van Persie and Mata (to a slightly lesser extent) but not Kagawa.
Kagawa, Rooney and Welbeck had potential.

Another that I was talking to my dad about last night.

LvG doesn't seem to have a plan for how he wants us to play, and is taking far too long to get things right. Lesser managers have done better jobs at lesser sides. We are putting a lot of faith in someone who's best part of his CV was years ago.

I actually agree with all of this.

(1)Ryan Giggs shouldn't have been allowed anywhere near the first team coaching staff, should have been allowed to earn his stripes.

(2) Ryan Giggs would make a terrible coach.

United fans suck up to Ronaldo too much, his transfer was damn near a slap to the face but we act like he is our saviour and have been begging him to come back since he left which is just disgraceful.

Agree with all of these.

Brendan Rogers would have made a tremendous Utd manager.
With our current squad?

I'd agree with that.
