Unpopular Opinions Thread

I like football weekly. Mainly because of Jimbo's eccentric nature, and Sid always sounding like he's in the back of a dodgy cab in Valencia when he calls in. I agree it doesn't offer much insight, but I come to the caf for indepth pedantic discussion.

Anything that isn't the Times podcast.

Macotti related more like, I used to think he was a great journalist \ pundit a few years ago when he done his European chat segment on TalkSport but now it seems that his ego has just taken control and he is unlistenable and very unlikeable on the Times podcast and on TV, He seems to think that he is the always correct and will talk over anyone he doesn't agree with

Yeah he's basically the reason I hate that podcast. I couldn't stand him talking over the others. It's incredibly disrespectful.

I dislike Ronaldo

Whaah? How can anyone dislike this loveable piece of puddin'?

Oh, you mean the other one? I see - well, that's more understandable. Unless he happens to have played for your team, he's not very likeable at all - and certainly no piece of puddin'. How unpopular an opinion it is would be debatable, though. I know many who detest C. Ronaldo - including United fans.

I dislike the reduction of players' (and managers') names to initials: RVP, LVG, ADM, SAF (in particular) B&Q, LIDL...

C. Ronaldo seems like a friend you'd want, from the stories I've seen. Also who wouldn't want to be?!

Yeah, me too.

People can't be bothered to type out van Gaal or van persie, but will type out Schweinsteiger or Mertersaker.

I dont think Fellaini is pure shite, and I think he can be of value for us, if things go his way more . Very bad start, he came in injured, came in the worst United side ever, got a lot of abuse, and the wrong role was expected from him (creative CM)/

I don't think anyone expected him to be a creative player. People expected him to be a defensive sort of midfielder if anything.

Said it wrongly, we were expecting a creative midfielder but then he came (not creative).

You are still wrong, people wanted a midfielder who can defend and he can't. They also wanted a creative midfielder and he is not creative.

Re: Football Weekly,

They should just have either Michael Cox or Jonathan Wilson on every episode as the person who will actually talk about tactics and the game. Doesn't overwhelm the light nature of proceedings but gets a bit of football in.

But it's the only football podcast I've ever stuck with.

Aye Mascherano for me is superior at the moment. If Barcelona had two quality center backs I believe Mascherano would have taken Busquets spot in the last 1-2 years. Busquets between 08-12 was great and he one of the most important players in their squad. But he hasn't reached the same levels over the past 2 years.

- I dislike Cristiano Ronaldo and his fans, I think he betrayed the club and specially Sir Alex Ferguson by not staying longer in his prime. I think his fans have an homoerothic love for him. Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't care about Manchester United.

- Statistics are ruining the way football fans see the game. They are almost useless when you put it in context.

- Sir Alex Ferguson biggest mistake was being way too "old-fashioned" during the latter stages of his carrer, his approach to the transfer market and the decision to appoint Moyes as manager show that, he was losing touch with the changes of the game.

- I like Roy Keane and players who are imperfect, I can't trust players that are too perfect or nice, like Juan Mata, I don't relate to them. The new generation of football players is too nice and too soft. There should be a come back of the drinking culture in football. More Roy Keanes and less nice guys. More drugs and cocaine, less instagram.

- Fifa, Uefa, Barcelona, Madrid, marketing, and the mediatic explosion of the past 10 years are the cancer killing football.

- Real Madrid is the representation of the facist wing of spain, franquism, nationalism and racism. Barcelona is the representation of the fallen left of europe, just another bullshit club that tries to sell an image of being the nice guys but are exactly the same as Real Madrid. Both Real Madrid and Barcelona are the iconic figures of the debacle of the capitalistic era and in the future their values will be seen as ridiculous and grotesque.

- Jose Mourinho is the most overrated manager of all time and brings nothing positive to the sport. He will have no legacy or nothing to be remember for other than winning some trophies and being a legend of a club runned by dirty money from one of the worst russian capitalists.

I'm completely with you on this.

De Rossi was never gonna leave Roma and he will never do so, Matic yet but not nearly as much as Herrera/Fabregas/Thiago/Strootman

Come on ! you only asked me if we were linked with this type players. :)

I don't like Ryan Giggs anymore, at all.

I think he's bland, dull and seemingly unintelligent. I think what he did to his brother DOES factor in to his suitability as a leader, and I don't like the idea of him as a future United manager even being entertained until he's proven himself to be, without question, the finest manager we could hire.

Some opinions are unpopular because they're absolutely retarded and bereft of any sort of reasoning.

These are opinions, not unpopular opinions.

Where's the reason in the belief that Ronaldo DOES care about Utd? Or that our fans SHOULD support a Real Madrid player more than they support many of our own players?

Madrid are a shit-house of a club and it says a lot about Ronaldo that he'd rather go to them than stay at Utd while we were easily the better team.
