You're the one talking complete bollocks I'm afraid- The fans welcomed them on arrival because when they bought the club they promised a new stadium (spade in the ground within 6 months), world class signings and I quote "No Glazer style takeover" . Had the Glazers took over United and promised no debt, a stadium expansion to 100k and signing Batistuta I doubt even a handfull of Utd fans would have been protesting. Shortly after when Liverpools assets were in fact leveraged and Liverpool were in £350m debt despite being bought for a little over £200m to go along with zero world class signings and a number of public spats with the manager Benitez and board members is when shit hit the fan and the mass protests started. As for the actual threats "The fans don’t want him [Tom Hicks] to have even one share of my stake in the club, based on what they are sending to me. As a result of that we [my family] have received many phone calls in the middle of the night threatening our lives, death threats. A number came to the office and my son, Foster, and daughter-in-law, Lauren, have received them". Gillett

Batistuta was 34 when the Glazers took over. We probably wouldn't have been very impressed with that.

On an unrelated note, I hate it when people think a suitable criticism of a player is calling them 'overrated.' The moment anyone uses this word in place of a more salient argument they lose my attention. All it is is a whine which says "some people like player x, but I don't." Have some courage in your conviction and provide a debatable point.

I was being sarcastic around Batistuta because we were linked with him for so many years and he was always one of the muppets biggest dreams.

Even without anymore signings (hopefully we sign some players anyway) we will more than likely make top four
I have faith in LVG and I think as long as there isn't any kind of freak injury crisis like we had a few years ago we will be fine

Despite all his good, Sir Alex needs to be held responsible for leaving the squad in the state it was left in. Not replacing Ronaldo/Giggs/Scholes/Evra/Rio/Vidic with talent, instead choosing to go for cheap options. Replaced the best winger in the world with Valencia, the best CM in the world with noone, instead choosing to turn an attacking number 10 Brazilian into a typical English number 6, the best CB partnership in the past decade with overrated young English players, and needlessly spending money on attacking players year after year whilst neglecting the squads obvious problems.

Agree.

Add to that all those ridiculous punts, Bebe, Dong, Obertan, Diouf, Manucho.

Will the money we spent on that crap we could have paid Hazards agent fee for example.

I would snap Hull's hand off if they are offering £15m or so for Welbeck.

Unpopular but we have already lost one of the two summer signings we made. That coupled with the loss of Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand, Giggs means our squad is even poorer than it was last season.

Let's hope pre season isn't a false dawn otherwise we are for it.

Hard to argue with any of this.

LVG is overrated by Man United fans. Hes not some sort of genius whos going to take us from 7th to challenging for the title unless we make more signings.
We wont make it into the top 4 with this current squad
Mata isn't suited to the club and is an inferior player to kagawa, we especially shouldn't have signed him with januzaj in the ranks
januzaj should be a first 11 player as the no10
Fellaini, if given the chance will make it at united
Mats Moller Daehli is more naturally gifted than iniesta

I agree mate white

Another one today. I think LVG has indeed handed in transfer targets and they include several world class players and Woodward has been too useless to pull any of the deals off.
He is absolutely struggling, thats for sure. if we did intend to buy more than just shaw and hererra, they should have been intergrated into the squad by now, i doubt we've even bid for a top player.

illuminati fixed fixtures list last season to make it tough for moyes

So many good points but feck's sake, bolded ones, why would you do that.

Evans is the worst centre half to play for united in the last decade and fletcher the most un-technical central mid in the PLs history.

Fellaini should stay another season. It still remains to be seen what his role is in the squad.

Given the fact we haven't signed any other midfielders thus far I agree completley. I think Fellaini has more to offer than Cleverley and Fletcher for that matter. If we are handing out second chances to those players, he deserves one aswell.

Agree 100%

Squad was left in a bad state and SAF is responsible for that. He is also responsible for all the titles we won in the last 20 years so there is that aswell. So can I frogive him that neglect, absolutley, but he is still responsible for it.

Wow, are you just trying to be controversial or are you dead serious? Because that is arguably the most delirious post I have ever read, particularly the part about Fletcher.

The 3-5-2 won't work against bad teams, and good teams will be able to press our back 5 (of whom only Evans (and Shaw when he's back) is good on the ball) and keep us from playing out.

We'll start the season okay because of our weak schedule, but we end it playing a normal 4-2-3-1 with one of Mata or Rooney wide and Januzaj on the other wing.

Why exactly will it not work? Also the pressing issue, the players just need to get used to it more and more confident. In the first half against Liverpool we were awful and what you said happened, but the second half we improved and were fine. They just need confidence.

There's one less player as an option in attack, so against teams that sit deep, it might hurt us a bit. As long as the 3 CB's stay back, you've got one less passer and dribbler, and with the wingbacks fairly loath to come inside it'll often be our 5 central midfield/attacking players struggling to get open against congested center midfields, as happened against Valencia.

Also, when the other team plays 1 up front and wing forwards it's basically 3 vs 3 or 5 vs 3 at the back, and neither are good outcomes for us. Look at what happened to Bayern against Dortmund, who played 4-3-3, had one forward on each defender and just pressed them a ton.

I think we'll end up playing 4 at the back this year and 3 at the back will be very, very useful in Europe and certain big games where the other team is trying to play quick, intricate football (Arsenal, Citeh). But I don't think it will work against Mourinho's Chelsea, and I'm not sure it's the right formation to pick up the 80 points we need.

First 6 games are the easy part of the schedule. I think we'll win enough of them that everyone will love it, but by the end of the season, 2 centre backs, or at the very least a lot of 0-0 halftime scores and Januzaj coming on for a CB a la Depay for Indi Martins at the WC.

I hope I'm wrong and every team comes at us and we murder them on the break, but I have doubts.

I am not sure about this. I agree that 352 isnt a great formation and there are good reasons, why almost all teams play with a back 4, but there are also few benefits. The formation allows the defenders more room for error. A back4 with Shaw - Evans - smalling - Jones/Raffael/Valencia looks really shaky. Its an accident to happen. Putting a 3rd CB in the middle will prevent tons of goals so that might outweigh the downsides. A normal 433/451 just doesnt suit the squad, but that got already discussed a 1000x times. Switching back to 433 wont be the solution for the problems that come along with a 352.

That we have quite a good team. So many people think it's average. Some even think it's not better than everton's which is laughable.

Everton have a more balanced side then we do. We have better strikers, GK and no.10's but their midfield and defense are better.

I don't think their midfield is better. Fletcher, Carrick and Herrera is better than what they have. I expect our defence to match theirs too. Distin is getting on, and I see our fullbacks as no worse than theirs either. Shaw will in time prove to be much better than Baines.

I just don't see the comparison in terms of ability. Before Moyes took over no one would have picked everton's squad. Our backbones (defence and midfield) are similar, but going forward we have far far more.

Herrera, Fletcher and Carrick are all better players than both McCarthy and Barry. Cue some Irish poster coming in and telling me I'm wrong, of course. The Everton pair are good players, but they'd face the same stick our lads do if they were here. Expectation is a massive influence in terms of how players are rated.

At City, Barry, despite his regular good form, was routinely hounded by rival supporters. As soon as he heads out on loan to Everton, plays exactly the way he was at City but for a team not as good, there are calls for his inclusion in the England squad and so forth. It's all very fickle.

I disagree. McCarthy and Barry at both better than Fletcher and Carrick. While Distin is getting on they have Stones who's very promising while ours like Jones and Smalling have basically regressed since they moved here.

Overall what I'm saying his they have a very well balanced as in they have players in their actual positions who all suit Martinez' philosophy.

How is Barry better than Carrick ? He's never ever hit anything close to carrick's top level. He's a solid player and that's where it ends. Carrick despite being overrated by some United fans here, is comfortably a level above when in form. I mean, Gareth Barry has never had a season where you thought he was one of the better players in the league.

Jones and Smalling haven't really regressed. They just haven't become top defended yet. Stones is basically where jones and smalling were when they burst on the scene. I don't see stones being where they were years back is an indication of him being better. Would you actually start tomorrow with stones ahead of jones based on the here and now?

You say Everton have players who suit Martinez' philosophy but I bet you didn't think that before last season. Give LVG time. He'll change some of these players to suiting the system over time. He might not do it as seamlessly as Martinez who caught everyone off guard with how quickly he changed them but you seem to be still judging this lot as Moyes' United.
