United under LvG: verdict so far!

I remember why I used to dislike him. He can be crazy in his stubborness.

I dare to suggest that Netherlands had success mainly because of Robben who made the 352 system work. Now LvG is trying to find a new Robben in AdM but the latter is nothing like Robben.

Think you're under estimating quite how big a job it is, yes you can point to the £150 m spent but to lose Evra, Vidic, and Ferdinand at the same time was massive, whether it was his fault we didn't get a top CB is a mute point but the defence is what is holding us back, and for me he has done a great job with the defence since the Leicester Fiasco, yes it has cost us going forward but for now, and with the injuries that's what he has had to do, he's not playing 3-5-2 to wind people up, he's doing it out of necessity.

Have ultimate faith that once a proper CB is in, and a top RB then we with play 4 at the back.

I can understand that in the games vs the top teams but not against the weaker teams at OT or the constant playing players out of position.

Big tests ahead. From March on we have somersault tough fixtures. Without a bit of a cushion I don't think it's inconceivable that we could drop of out of the top 4.
....
You should be safe by then regarding Top 4. The next 6-7 games are all winnable considering your recent form. So you should be okay with getting something like 1,5 points per game during that difficult period.

I remember why I used to dislike him. He can be crazy in his stubborness.
....
There is not a top manager out there who is not literally crazy in his stubbornness.

Yesterday, LvG seemed lost and devoid of ideas. A little clip on Sky of the bench and there seemed to be an argument between the coaching staff too.

I felt sorry for Falcao. He works tirelessly but there is virtually no build up from the midfield.

And if pace is such a pre-requisite, then why didn't we keep the pacy striker we already had - Danny Welbeck? That why, Di Maria could be left to excel in his proper position.
Good point. Sold an absolute gem of a player who was different to our other strikers.

The pressure of English fans and press has made him put 5-3-2 on hold at least.. The reason we are losing the title.

He's clueless. We're going backwards. It's the same pattern of regression as we had under Moyes.

His belligerence and air of arrogance covers up his lack of managerial ability, but sooner or later the board will have to come to their senses. What a spoofer.

Not doing a very good job, league table is keeping him in credit but looks 50/50 we will make top 4 and if we don't he could well be gone.

Rooney in midfield isn't working, falcao and RVP as a partnership hasn't, isn't and won't work, if he keeps repeating those mistakes we won't finish in the top four.

Verdict is very bad and very underwhelming to say the least. One change at the 70th min and another at the end because of the red card, keeping 2 useless strikers all game long. Having a striker as a CM ... He's a phoney, terrible tactically and has zero reactivity when things go bad. Very poor manager.

No idea why he persisted with Falcao and RVP upfront. Not confident either way on our long term ability.

I think he's doing really well. It's funny, most at the start of the season suggested a realistic target of top 4, and he has us playing top 4 level football (which admittedly is a level below what most here are used to) and somehow that isn't good enough? I really don't get it.

By the way, you can't judge any manager until after their first two seasons. I will always stand by that principle regardless of modern trends. Nevertheless, even if we were to judge him in this moment, I think he's doing a good job.

We are getting results and it isn't because of him.

We're playing West Ham, you need physical players. Fighters like Fellaini. No surprises we did something when he was on. Herrera fights. No sign of him.

He's making problems for us, not solving them. Talks about imbalance and we're still imbalanced with all these players that can make us balanced finally fit.

He's got results but he's been shit and we're playing shit football. West Ham weren't anything special.

I'm starting to lose confidence in him. The worse is I think so do the players.

With every passing week I am losing a bit of confidence in him. In terms of personality, LVG fits the club and position perfectly, but tactically he just seems to want to play these ridiculous systems and formations all the time.

I am being increasingly disillusioned by Van Gaal. Continues to make some baffling decisions that just don't work.

Starting to get fed up with him, he's not a lot better than Moyes (points wise they are on par) and we're on course to finish with around 65 points... he won't get us top four if he doesn't stop being stubborn and neglects changes during the game that might actually help. He'll be gone by the end of the season at this rate and rightly so.

Getting that feeling too. You see so many of these managers across the corporate world. Presentation over substance, excessive jargon, overcomplicating simple tasks all under a veneer of arrogance.

Quite similar. Today is the day I feel he hasn't got a clue how to set up in this league.
Trying to fit Rooney, RVP and Falcao in this team is killing us, especially when Falcao and RVP are just not good enough right now

Please LvG stop this two striker nonsense. Especially with two strikers who are so out of form as Falcao and RvP. I mean how many more bad performances of this duo does it take until you realize this isn't working?

I have completely lost faith and confidence in him. This is worse than Moyes to me considering the players we have.

This.

I always said I'd give him until after Xmas, this is just dire. He has great players but is making shocking decisions.

We are more difficult to beat. But his tactics from the start have been poor. He's got it right only a few times this season.

He has spent 150 million quid on players. He plays players out of position, and we are in top 4 mainly due to DDG, the player who is arguable least effected by LvG's training and tactics. This squad is easily good enough to finish in top 3.

The only thing LVG ever did was to last longer than Moyes when it comes to keep my confidence up. However, this is all and truly over today. Sheer stupidity after sheer stupidity... is there any end to stupidity when blatant mistakes are made by a manager?

He can pack his bags to his summer house in Portugal and stay there.

I'm pretty concerned with a lot of what has gone on and chief among those concerns is the idea that LVG might not 'get' English football but he is a smart, adaptable coach and I reckon he'll be much better next season.

I agree. Its sad to say but for the first time since he joined i'm starting to question his decisions.

I say its sad because i felt this same way with Moyes, albeit slightly earlier - I think it was October when it really set in.

Trying to be to clever with his formations. Either that or he doesn't have the balls to drop Falcao and/or RVP.

We clearly would be so much better off in some variation of a 4-3-3, especially away from home. How Herrera and Mata don't get to play over RVP and Falcao is beyond me. Don't even get me started on Rooney being played in midfield.

And we are on course to do that, so what is your problem?

Still very suspect and it doesn't help that he's such an unlikeable, arrogant person.

It's very simple, with the ugly football and the many tactical horror shows we've seen this season, the only way he can save his job is if we finish in the top-4. Otherwise he must be sacked, and I wouldn't miss him.

Don't think he'll be this time next year. He's still doing dumb shit after ample evidence it isn't working. You could accept tumescent peeformances like that here and there, not with this frequency.

That game against Fulham where we rained in crosses was the point I realised Moyes wasn't up to the job, though it wasn't until the Everton game when I got the feeling he was actually a dead man walking.

That "Fulham feeling" came today for LvG.

If the player lost confidence in him then it would be bad, frankly giggs should have a go at him tbh if he cares about utd

I think that might be the nail on the head tbh.
