United under LvG: verdict so far!

I rarely post anything about van Gaal, but I'll post it now. I think he is idiot, I really do, I am not joking.

I wouldn't sack him, he's a good manager and he's more then capable of getting us playing really well. He's just being stubborn as hell for some reason and is sticking with a shite formation and 2 world class players in the wrong positions. Frustrating as feck, but if someone slaps him to his senses we'll be fine...

With everyone playing out of position and choosing the safe option every time it looks like we're so scared of losing that we'll never win.
Need to take a few chances and put players in the midfield with some unpredictability and directness like Herrera and Di Maria and put Rooney further forward.
Started to get a bit worried about our chances of a top 4 finish this year now.

The tactical genius tag is out the window making very basic errors repeatedly and seems have mDe virtually no progress from the start of the season. If we don't make top four he will have to go as a big rethink is needed with the players, squad is unbalanced and full of players who just aren't good enough, are overrated or past their best.

I was optimistic we could make top four and kick mon from there but think we might struggle now.It might be that a long term rebuild is required if we don't make the champions league because the big budgets and big name signings will disappear.

Quality of football is scandalous despite quality of players on the pitch. Formation and players out of position to blame.

The decisions he is making are getting worse. He is now playing our best players out of position and expecting them to magically be able to make this 3-5-2 work.

I want the LVG who was at bayern. The one that implemented a 4-3-3. Not the holland manager who took a bunch of average players to the semi final via a quirky formation.

Phil Jones taking the corners is just the bottom line really for me. He is going to lose his job if we continue in this fashion.

He's stubborn which tends to only get worse with age. If he persists (which I think he will). It will ultimately lose him his job.

Putting it down to stubbornness is almost being too kind. As if he's capable of sorting it out, but chooses not to.
I think he genuinely just thinks this is the best idea.

I don't know which I'd prefer, to be honest.

This is a mad house. Manchester United is a mad house.

If we don't win pundits and MOTD are going to slaughter him

Almost looks like a piss take.

Van Gaal's trolling goes up a gear.

I keep telling myself that he is a fantastic football manager and knows a lot more than all of us...but then I see some of the bonkers things he is doing with less and less of it working and I genuinely am starting to wonder if he has lost the plot.

Still hoping he proves me wrong and the team starts to click and we can all have a laugh about it in an hour or so, but his tenure as our manager is starting to turn into a farce.

There's real quality on the pitch.

Now we understand why he was run out at Bayern and Barcelona and possibly why doing the same sooner rather than later would be a wise decision. He is a stubborn fool who is cutting his nose to spite his face.

We looked brilliant going forward in the diamond, even if our defence was godawful at times and we imploded at Leicester. That project was dropped the moment we played a poor 30 minutes. We've now looked like shit for three months in this horrible 3-5-2 egotrip of LVG and no sign of changing it. He'd actually rather stifle all our best players to prove he's right than do the obvious.

Starting to have serious doubts now.

The Villa game cast some doubts (i mean 10 men and feck all attack), the southampton game is when I realised that his man has no clue - today just reaffirms that!!! (Jones taking corners??!?!?!!?!?)

Its stupid isnt it? Everyone can see that, so why cant LVG??! Just because Robben worked for holland doesnt mean di maria will.

But Robben didn't work that way. The Dutch were defending the whole time, so he had space (he is also better at close space then di Maria, but space allows you to beat 4-5 players), which di Maria doesn't have.

The slight problem being there's no one at the clubs to slap him(Which at the start of the season was seen as a positive). But whenever someone has told him(This happened at Barca and Bayren) 'Hey Louie this might not be working' things tend to go bat shit crazy and Louie ends up showing his balls to everyone.

He's annoyed me for a while, but now, I've just gotta say, I don't like the guy. I'm not saying we should sack him but if Woody got rid tomorrow, I wouldn't be all that upset about it.

I'm starting to think we are Van Gaal's "project". He wants to go out with a bang by proving the world he's a genius that can succeed using uncommon tactics. The 3-5-2, playing Di Maria up front and Rooney in midfield, Jones on corners. It's like he's deliberately going out of his way to make things as awkward as possible, so that if it succeeds he'll earn all the plaudits and people will call him a genius. All it's doing at the moment is showing him up as an extremely arrogant, stubborn and quite frankly idiotic man.

Maybe if we lose this game LvG will HAVE to change things given what the other results look like

I am sure LvG has some sort of performance-based clause in his contract. If he does not get us in top 4, he is a goner. With the quality we have in our squad, by the end of the season we should be in top 3 minimum, and top 2 next season. However, as the season gets older, looks like we are not progressing at all. Woodward won't buy any excuses, e.g. neither injuries nor philosophy.

The fans are going to turn soon, shit football in a shit 352 formation that utilities nobody in the team.

at the beginning of the season we were decent, but now we play like relegation candidates. His decisions get worse from week to week.

Nor should he. That spending spree in the summer was the club basically saying 'we've given you the recourses Louis, now get us back into the top four'.

Has the feeling of the Fulham 81 crosses game, where the tide seemed to fully turn against Moyes and his inability to recognise what everyone else could plainly see. The baffling thing is how senseless this is. Van Gaal could pull this from the fire at any time, by switching to a back 4, moving Di maria into midfield. His team selection is a bizarre act of self-sabotage.

edit: appears he's just changed to a back 4

edit again: and we've scored almost immediately

I can see why some people are reluctant to criticise him. I mean you turn the draws into wins and we're title contenders and everything looks much more rosier. But let's be real, how many of them draws did we really deserve to win? Not many. We played tumescent football most of the season too and sometimes look just as bad under LvG as we did under Moyes, except packaged differently.

He really needs to take some responsibility for his actions and come to his senses about the 3-5-2 bollocks that blatantly isn't working.

At the moment, I'm undecided about him. I was in the summer but his performances at the World Cup along with the whole Cafe optimism after Moyesgate swept me into the LvG in crowd. He could make me eat my words but at the moment, it's looking unlikely. If he would just be less stubborn...

We've scored against QPR but we're still looking shit. Not that easy to just switch gears after slow, blunt football for 55 minutes.

I hope this destroys the illusion that the only reason we created nothing vs Southampton was because they were so well organised. QPR are rubbish, one of the worst teams in the league, and yet we're struggling to put any sort of move together at all.
