United in this Summer transfer window

Someone on Talksport said Madrid were going to break the world record and bid 85m for Bale. I'm sorry but he's no Ronaldo. Also where would he play? Ronaldo takes the free-kicks etc. I think at this stage it would be a disaster for Bale. unless we solved that problem and got Ronaldo off them.

Agree. In fact, knowing Ronaldo's ego, I don't think that he will be happy if Madrid break his world record and pay more than 80m for Bale. Also, Ronaldo plays as a left forward like Bale, and there is no chance that Ronaldo would be happy to share his free kicks with Bale. Bale would be in Ronaldo's shadow and could easily be a disaster if he goes there while Ronaldo is still in top form.

Bale doesn't seem the type to play abroad. I honestly think if Spurs could get in the CL again he would happily stay there. It is up to Daniel Levy to provide the money for quality players.

We would be happy to accept him in United society though

And I think that he should make the big move this or next summer. There is no point to still continue staying at Spurs and never win anything. And very likely, we would be much better for him than Madrid.

Don't think they can both co-exist. It will be one or the other at Madrid. My guess is that they'll sell Ronaldo if they sign Bale.

One of them is coming here for sure. :p

Agreed. I'm actually surprised by the amount of people that say he will go abroad.

He's established himself in English football and is still very young. Why would he leave the PL so soon?

I think you're just setting yourself up to be extremely distraught with comments like that. Neither of them are coming here for sure, both have a small chance of doing so yeah, but that is a very small chance.

I agree. It seems more of a move in a few years time. Ronaldo or Ronaldo's mum had always wanted to go to Madrid. More of a draw for foreign players.

Are people really comparing Bale to Ronaldo? jesus christ

I'm not, I mentioned earlier that Bale is not anywhere near Ronaldo's standard yet and might never be. It worries me that agents seem to trying to push him to Madrid when it might not suit him or his family. I hate agents.

If we sign Garay, then I can only guess that Vidic is leaving.

So of course, I'd say that all this is bullshit.

Bizarre transfer if true. If Vidic leaves then it will be a major blow for the team.

One more year for Rio and he may retire and you'll never know how much of luck we'll have with all the injuries, next season.

It could be a good move that could raise the bar for other defenders in the team... for healthy rivalry.

We've got 5 centre halves. They each have their own hefty set of qualities. I would be stunned if we signed another.

Would be surprising, especially now Ferdinand has signed on for another year, and as above Vidic hopefully back to full fitness himself.

Having said that, the last 2-3 years we have had one ridiculous period where seemingly all the defenders have been out at the same time!

I could sort of understand if we consider Jones to be midfield cover for Carrick and Smalling our back up right back.

I think we've already signed a couple of players, big signings, one was probably done when Gill flew to Madrid last month, we just aren't announcing them until Moyes officially starts work cause it would look wrong announcing players before announcing the manager.Plus we also want pics etc taken in our new kit which isn't out yet.

... and on top of the muppet cake - Wilfried Zaha.

Poor Moyesy. After Gill's uber spree, he'll be left with little money and his only option will propably be to sign Ross Barkley for the future. Quite awesome scenario, anyway !

Yeah that was last Christmas thought, doesn't count does it.

I think so because Zaha deal was done with christmas money. That means United is having a brand new, untouched funds for summer.

Moyes is the kind of manager that will surely find money for players he wants. He had hard times in that department in Everton, yet he managed to build a machine that steals points from top clubs.

Good points.

That's a good point. We may not announce anything, even if already done, until after Moyes is announced officially. Can you imagine if on July 1st or 2nd, we announce like 3 signings? That will sell those fecking shirts!

The Vidic who can barely play 2 games in 10days these days?

Total myth.

He played 90 minutes twice in 3 days two times in the latter third of the season. He's had rehabilitation on his knee and he's only getting stronger now, a good summer per season and he will be right as rain.

OK, Zaha, de Maria and Strootman. I can live with that. Fix this guy Alacantararara also and we have piece full and perfect summer. Last time was 2008 so we have earned it.

That could very well be the case. I think we'll confirm the deal(s) once everything is finalised but won't unveil our signings until Moyes returns. This fits into my view that the club want to make sure Moyes has time to really work with the squad and reduce the number of transactions he has to deal with in the transfer window. I honestly cannot see our club allowing any transfer saga to last the whole summer. After SAF's departure, I think everyone at the club realises the importance of starting on the right foot

Player's valuations do fluctuate of course, usually based upon demand. Is Rooney as coveted as he once was? We will have to wait and see, but there doesn't seem to have been as much serious interest compared to the last time he wanted to leave.

Have a word upstairs.

David Moyes to bring four big names to Old Trafford this summer.

New Manchester United manager David Moyes is targeting four players in an £80million summer spending spree, according to reports.

The Scot has been given the unenviable job of replacing the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford, after the long-serving boss announced his retirement towards the end of the season, and looks set to be given a big transfer budget by the United board to help him put his own stamp on the team in his first season in charge.

It is understood that Moyes will aim to spend the £80million on Marouane Fellaini, Karim Benzema, Nicolas Gaitan and Thomas Vermaelen.

Moyes has earned a great reputation from building a strong team from limited resources at Everton, and will be hoping to show he can also spend big money wisely at a bigger club with far greater expectation.

His main target is said to be a raid on old club Everton for Fellaini. The 25-year-old Belgian has just had his best season in an Everton shirt, scoring 12 goals and establishing himself as one of the stars of the Premier League with his dominant displays in midfield. United are certainly short in that department, with Paul Scholes retiring and Anderson likely to be sold, and Fellaini would provide a good complement to the playing style of Michael Carrick in the middle of the park, as he is a more physical and aggressive presence who can also get forward to good effect, which would help replace the goals and assists of Scholes. He has a £25million minimum release fee clause which may also attract bids from Arsenal and Chelsea, but it is understood that Fellaini would welcome the chance to continue to work with Moyes.

Nicolas Gaitan is also an essential signing as United’s weakness this season has certainly been on the wings. Nani, Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia have all struggled to weigh in with goals and assists, and Gaitan has been a long-term target for United after an impressive few seasons with Benfica. The Portuguese side are expected to ask for around £28million for the Argentine.

Moyes is also preparing for the departure of Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez, two strikers who have been unhappy with their roles in the team this season, and will make a move for Karim Benzema as a replacement, who could be available from Real Madrid for £22million after a slightly disappointing campaign from the Frenchman. This could prove to be a bargain if the former Lyon star can recapture his best form, as he is capable of being one of the most lethal finishers in the world, as well as drifting wide to good effect and helping provide ammunition for Robin van Persie.

The final £5million could go on a surprise swoop for Thomas Vermaelen, with the Arsenal captain thought to be available this summer after falling out of favour at the Emirates Stadium. The Belgian has had a poor run of form since being made captain, and could be the second player in consecutive summers to move from Arsenal to Manchester United. At his best, he is a dominant centre-back who could improve United’s backline, which leaked goals on many occasions and conceded the highest number of goals in the top four this season, despite their title win. Nemanja Vidic has had numerous problems with injuries and the Arsenal man could help fill that gap at the back for Moyes.

The likes of Claudio Marchisio and Nemanja Matic have also been linked with the club, and could be backup options if Moyes misses out on his main targets. More players could also be brought in if the club can make a decent amount of money from the sales of the likes of Rooney, Hernandez, Anderson and Nani.

I know it's as shitty a source as you can get but what the hell, it's muppet season.

Why has the Ronaldo thread closed? That image I posted wasn't a wum, it really is from UWS summer edition. I'm not saying it's true, but it's not a wum either.:(
