United in this Summer transfer window

Your talking about 6 million quid ffs, isn't that much?

Its okay saying just pay the inflated prices but unlike the oil clubs our resources have to be invested wisely. I still think we are hoping financial fair play will curb the prices so we're willing to wait if need be.

One thing is for certain we shouldn't over spend just to appease the fans.

Money is all relative and when it comes to a club the size of United 6 million is feck all.

Something has to occur before deadline, otherwise Moyes simply won't be happy with his transfer window.

I honestly think Rooney in central midfield deserves another shout this season, should we fail to bring in a new one. We're stuffed enough up front, and he's good enough there.

He has every chance of playing ahead of Tom Cleverley, unless we are going to prioritise playing an academy graduate. For me, Cleverley hasn't really established himself as a better footballer than Anderson, who on his day can be very good himself. He had a good pre-season too, and have no idea why it seemingly isn't closer between him and Cleverley in terms of competition since the season started.

Well it depends what you mean by a better footballer. Obviously there are certain attributes that Anderson has, Cleverley does not have, like running with the ball and beating a man. But I'd say that Cleverly has better positional sense and is tactically more astute. I think the team is more effective and solid with Cleverley partnering Carrick then Anderson partnering him in a 2 man midfield.
Anderson has had 6 seasons to establish a first team spot at the club where for long periods Hargreaves, Fletcher and Scholes have been either injured, or retired. The fact he has failed to so, despite United having not bought a midfielder since he was bought, is the reason why United are looking to bring in 2 midfielders in the first place. It's not a matter of prioritising over someone from the academy over someone who was bought for around £20m. The simple truth is that Cleverley has been more consistent then Anderson and had had longer periods of being fit then Anderson. You can look at it from a more gloomier angle and say that Cleverley is a less worse option then Anderson.

Herrera , Fellaini and Baines before the window closes and i'll be happy

Defensively we don't need anyone and with Rooney staying and looking motivated again our attacking options are more than fine.
Having Herrera and Fellaini for the midfield would greatly improve that area, which has been our biggest weakness for a couple of years. I'd say with Carrick, Fellaini, Herrera, Cleverly, Anderson, Kagawa, Giggs and Fletcher we'll have one of the best midfields in the PL. Baines is a good and very usefull footballer with great crossing ability and a great freekick, he'll bring some needed quality competiton for Evra on the leftback and could also be used as a LM.

Herrera €36m
Fellaini €28m
Baines €20m

Should get things sorted, it is overpaid, for all three, but that is the price we pay for leaving it all so late. I'd rather spend €10m too much than have an absolute shit season and see us drop back from our status as top club, with all problems included.

You see I disagree with your assessment of Anderson. I just don't think Cleverley, when we really break it down, has done enough himself to be established as a better option if both are fit. Anderson's form prior to his injury at Reading, for example, is of a higher level Cleverley has shown. Also, he has had more than his fair share of poor performances too - if I recall he didn't get onto the pitch for like 10 games in a row at a point last season due to poor form.

I think the fact that he is fit more often is all he really has over Anderson.

Would be nice to wait for one or two midfielders to actually get signed before complaints about too many midfielders start

And even then Anderson could not establish himself in the team which within the squad had only 3 fit orthodox midfielders at the time.

Well he was in the team, then he got inured.

I wasn't aware of that although that just about sums his career here up. And before that he was gash in his previous 2 or 3 matches. But surely Anderson could not have been injured throughout all of Cleverley 10 game rest period?

Do you honestly think its the bids that is a problem??? I think thats just part of of it. What I cant understand is a few days ago we were thinking of Fellaini and Baines and today it is Herrera and De Rossi. WTF?? To me that is more of a problem than anything else.
What makes you think Fellaini and Baines were our only targets?

So Moyes didn't think Thiago was good enough but Herrera is?

Herrera is not a £30m player. We really have pushed ourselves into a corner with our transfer strategy.

Have you made that up or has that been reported by a trustworthy news outlet?

Numerous journalists briefed by United have stated that Moyes rejected Thiago rather than the other way round. The line is "Ultimately Moyes was unsure that Thiago could stand up to physical side of Premier League" Seems to me far more likely Thiago chose Bayern over us but United have definitely been spinning that story. Ogden of Telegraph, Miguel Delaney, Daniel Taylor Guardian, all the usual press guys who have good sources into United

His agent is Guardiola's brother. I still refuse to believe that we ever had any chance of signing him.

Stupid decision to wait this long, its looking more and more like we are going to spend nothing again, while other clubs strengthen. The Glazers have a lot to answer for, creaming off the miilions for themselves and not investing in the team. The whole transfer window has been a disaster. Without Ferguson here to sugar coat the Glazers pernny pinching its worse than ever. We clearly chose our manager as the one who wouldn't complain about the lack of spending power the club has due to the awful situation the owners put us in.

It's a reflection of our ambition or competence in the transfer market when our club record signing is equal in price to a club the size of...

Well so far Woodward hasn't done anything to make me think he could pull something out the hat in the next two days.

Not saying he's useless but if he fell into a barrel of tits he'd come up sucking his thumb...

For all the frustration of the summer, if we can push through the Fellaini and Herrera deals before the window closes, I'd be pretty satisfied with the end result. Nani has apparently signed a new deal, and Rooney is staying. Just get Januzaj tied down and it will be a successful summer.

We've got the worst starting schedule in years, let's hold off buying anyone who can improve our squad until the last day of the transfer window... Geniuses.

Said the same thing earlier. Signing should've been made much earlier. Shocking planning.

we dont have money to buy imho, all these news on trying to buy fabregas fellani etc are just for shows

If trying to buy Fellaini is for show, what would the show be called? Low expectations?

"From what I saw today, I'm more than happy with what I've got. It's the best we've played this season. I wouldn't be worried if I didn't add to the squad."

He can't honestly believe this can he?
