United in this Summer transfer window

What would you guys say is our biggest weakness in midfield?

For me, it's a) our inability to cut open teams through the middle through our passing. We always seem to go wide because we're not confident of going through the middle. B) our ability to hold on to the ball when pressed.

Kagawa can be the man for these purposes though cant he?

My main worry is more when we dont have the ball, winning it back and then doing something simple but useful with it. Again, not such a huge issue because Carrick is good at it, but in his absence we look lightweight. And against he top teams it doesnt hurt to have multiple people who are good when we dont have the ball.

This seemingly snail speed at which we're bidding for people is bizarre

I honestly do think that players are slightly more hesitant in joining us now Fergie is gone. It's not completely out of the question that we may drop out from the top two for a good few years for Moyes to adapt (if it does happen, it will separate the "United fans" with the real United fans).

Maybe we've found is difficult this summer because players would like to see how we survive a year without Fergie before deciding if joining us is wise.

I know there is history of the club etc and it isn't all about the Fergie-pull for players; but its definitely a possibility.

Do you think it takes a day or two to prepare a bid?

I'm under the assumption that the club approached the initial bid thinking there would be no chance in hell that it would be accepted, one or two days certainly wouldn't be very long when you're bidding with the knowledge that the bid has zero chance of going anywhere.

I think you may well be onto something here. The history of the club ensures that in the medium to longer term the club will thrive, but in the short term the loss of a manager of 26-odd years is a big deal and could easily create short term instability.

I dont think Fabregas wouldve been massively enthusiastic anyway because he already plays for his dream club and will want to fight for his place there. Thiago as well, joining his old manager makes sense for him and German football is peaking at the moment so the timing is good. But for both the SAF factor could have made the decision easier to make. And who knows what else has been happening in the background, it wouldnt surprise me at all if a lot of players adopted a wait and see approach, especially those with no real link to England.

The worst for me is that our scouting team have seemingly lost the ability to find talented players who might not be so well known. We've barely been linked with anything other than established PL players and well known stars.

I wonder if we'll miss out on Fellaini and Baines too...

Varela? Maybe we're at the point where we want to sign established PL players and well known stars.

What about Strootman? he's a bit more off the radar.

No, we bid for Baines months ago. Why has it took this long to go back, and even worse with exactly the same offer. There's nothing to defend this summer so far its been terrible.

Dutch international and pretty highly rated, and seemingly we were never even in for him.

Lots of good players have been moving around this Summer and we've been doing nothing about it.

Oh well..

I think Cina meant people who are established first teamers somewhere but not so well known. Not another kid who will disappear in our youth setup and end up at a championship side. We need someone who is first team ready, but not necessarily a world wide name.

Look 45 sec into the video:

We just play wide players regardless. Thats our culture.

I disagree. The manager is the person responsible for tactics and he's the one bringing the players in. If decides to play with a narrow 4-5-1 system and he brings players who have played that system and remove those who cant adapt then we'll change our system.

One mustnt forget that systems evolved even under SAF. We went from a 4-4-2 system were wingers hugged the line right to wingers capable of cutting inside and score a record number of goals. At one point we had strikers acting as inside forwards (Welbeck and Rooney). Players also adapt and change their style. Scholes and Giggs are prime examples to that.

I can see United getting less reliant on the flanks at least in terms of crosses.

We'll get eventually someone. Moyes is happy with the current youth and the stars in United but he clealry showed that he wants to add more than one player.

When he discovered Fellaini while being Everton manager, the afro man was pretty much the player you and Cina are talking about. Not known but talented and ready to make an impact.

BTW if anyone thinks that Moyes isn't changing us then he's mistaken. If the man had his way he'll bring half Everton with him (Round, Philip Nev, Wood, Lumsden, Baines and Felliani)

l wont be surprised if there are two players in mind.

If we gather all news and rumours, we got from past week to now, there could be even talk about two midfielders and two defenders as there's still some rumour, hovering about Garay interest.

We're linked pretty much with the whole Real Madrid's midfield, now, except Alonso.

I wont be surprised if we end up with a left back (Baines) a DM (Felliani) and a truly creative player. Its difficult to believe that Moyes sees Felliani as fall back to Fabregas. The two players are too different.

That's what has puzzled me about why people are disappointed about Fellaini, I think he is one of the midfielders that Moyes want, we will have to wait and see if they can get the creative midfielder Moyes obviously thinks we need.

So, does it look like United is going to do some more business this summer? Haven't been following any of the muppetry lately.

Many forget how reliant we are to Carrick. Felliani is no Carrick but at least he can play DM.

Meh, Chelsea could sign players when they didn't even have a manager. The manager factor is a bit overrated, CL football and money are the most important considerations.

I still have a sneaking feeling when Bale signs for Madrid we will go for Ozil. He isn't as central as Fabregas but boy can he create.

Not so long ago, even Cabaye was speaking about move to United. Many things can happen, now.

Baines-Fellaini combo is pretty much the most confirmed news we got, this summer. The riddle is indeed, the creative player's case and from what I see, Moyes and Woodward are being very careful with making it public.

On 95%, there's something going behind the scenes, about it.

I actually think it does take a day or two to prepare a new bid to be fair, we've been awfully slow.

Nah, he's not a central midfield. That's where we need more players with technical ability. Kagawa is better much further forward. More of an attacker than a playmaker.

He'd be brilliant in the premier league. But for him to come Rooney would have to go and no one abroad seems to want him.

IMO we are done as far as this summer is concerned. Moyes was clearly talking about Baines and Fellaini in his post game interview. and it seems Everton will want to charge us extra / don't want to sell. Either way we are not getting our targets.

If we sign somebody it will be a big surprise to everybody I believe.

a midfield trio made up of Felliani-Carrick-Cabaye would be pretty solid.
