United in this Summer transfer window

Really poor Devilish. "I never knew how important I was" is such a poor way of responding to anything. My 13 year old cousin does it a lot. You'll be talking about "haters" next.

You've been here for a decade saying how we're in decline. It's not hard to find. Search. Post's by devilish. Include the word decline. You'll find posts from 2007 ripping our midfield and saying we need to replace Giggs and Scholes. A bit further back there are posts where you're telling everyone Giggs is definitely going to be sold to Juve. Eerily reminiscent of you saying Rooney's gone already.

One thing hasn't changed. You're always negative, you're always proven wrong and you're always still around.

Maybe i should post copy and paste posts about us having the best side ever and how cm is excellent as it is as u did. Youll probably ask me to bring up the posts to back it up. I cant get arsed doing that though. I got a life

Pls be a good boy and make more research of what i said 8 yrs ago. Geez this is getting interesting

I think we have an excellent squad. I am very happy with how our team has done over the past 10 years and don't think we can expect much more. You don't need to bring the posts up, I'll stand by that.

Good boy indeed. Now let the adults discuss now. You can keep digging old posts. Thats fun

I see devilish hasn't changed.

Ive always said that the cl is the pinnacle of everybig clubs success. In my opinion if we slightly improved the treble (decent gk to replace schmeichel) and the 3 cl side we would have had won 2-3 more other cl titles which, in my opinion is a shame. But lets stick to this summer

I think we were looking for the perfect signing this summer and it just isn't easy to find somebody that could improve our team in the way RVP did last year.

Fabregas might have done so but now it seems like he is a no go. I wouldn't mind Fellaini because he would improve our depth and give us something in midfield we currently don't have, steel and power.

We don't need wingers if they live up to what we know they can do. We defintely need another midfielder. We don't need another striker if Rooney leaves as Kagawa can fill the space. For us to win the title we need another great season from RVP and Carrick with Kagawa and one of our wingers really stepping up. Our defence is still the strongest part of our team.

So what do we make of Moyes' comments about being closer to a signing? I'd love it if it was a bolt from the blue (and I'm not talking about Fellaini!).

I guess we won't do any business until 20th at earliest, most likely we'll have to wait until the last week of the transfer window.

Yeah, whoever comes in now will have to earn their place in the team. The start to the season is too taxing to throw in players who have only just arrived.

Indeed, I don't expect any of the new signings to jump straight into the team with the fixture list we have. It'll probably not be until the late September before any of the new players (if we sign any) get their proper chance.

Well if it isn't Fellaini, I don't think anyone has a clue who it could be!

We signed RvP in the week when the season opener kicked off last week. I remember he travelled with the team to Everton and didn't start because he wasn't match fit at all. We might well see the same scenario happen again

According to Everton, Fellaini genuinely missed the game today because of an infected cut leg. Moyes confirmed his absence had nothing to do with us.

Maybe this mystery player we're close to is someone more exciting?

I won't hold my fecking breath.

I'm actually not expecting us to sign anyone who could walk into the first team. Perhaps even no one at all.

well, we have shirt numbers 7, 9 and potentially 10 available ... Space enough for 3 mega players!

I don't think there'll be any additions to the team in this window either, if they are they're going to be left late.

I don't mind Fellaini cuz i think there is space in the squad for a player of his kind but I also hope you're right about an exciting player.

Fellaini would be very good for us looking at the team at one point today we had Vidic, Smalling, Jones, RVP, Wellbeck, Carrick, Valencia all easily 6ft plus adding Fellaini to that would make us very dominant and physical frightening at set pieces and able to hold our own against anyone! In open play we are more than a match for most already.

Maybe we will sign someone that is exciting in a position outside of CM as there seemingly few realistic targets at this point?

Has to be said, no other club of our stature misses out on their transfer targets anywhere near as often as we do.

I wouldn't want Usain to sign with Shitty!! ;)

If Ronaldo is returning home then it makes sense getting Felliani. Lets face it Ronaldo is magnificent but he was never a hardworking player. The likes of Jones, Felliani and Carrick will have to do the donkey work.

If we were to sign Baines and Fellaini and entertain no other incoming and outgoing transfers I think we'd have a pretty sick squad. I'm optimistic that we have a great chance to win the league without any further signings with Rooney staying, though we'd probably not really beat the top teams in the CL unless Moyes pulls a blinder tactically

With those two, I could see Baines possibly playing left midfield and Evra overlapping giving a balance to our left side we have not really had on a consistent basis for quite a few seasons now. That will free up the midfield quite a lot for players like Rooney and Kagawa to really exploit that space and with Fellaini we'd be a much more of a set-piece threat as well as having about as much physicality in midfield as you can have (for the record, I think he offers much more and would consider it a bit of a steal if we'd sign him for just over 20m)

If Moyes were to go back for them and for them to then really perform, as I'm sure they would, it coul strengthen his position quite a lot

Signing Baines would make us look desperate. Waste of limited resources when we have other priorities. Felliani makes more sense.

Why would anybody want us to sign Baines and then play him left mid? You know one of the reasons he gets so much space because he is a fullback. Where as he'd be more tightly marked, if he played left mid and isn't really the quickest.

I remember people saying to do the same with Bridge and Cole for England. And it didnt work for one game.

I'm happy with Fabio as cover for both Rafael and Evra, but I certainly wouldn't mind one of the best, if not the best left-back in the league in the last couple of seasons who can also play midfield, and is left-footed, something we currently haven't got (apart from Januzaj)

I agree that it's not as pressing a concern as center midfield, but he give us great options and is top quality

Maybe that's because Bridge is shit.

I don't think Baines would be signed exclusively to play left midfield. He'd be a longish-term replacement for Evra and would probably get quite a few games at left-back - Evra is not getting any younger and the over-reliance should maybe be avoided if possible.

Baines and Fellaini aren't my first two picks. I was just entertaining the rumors as a thought experiment and, contrary to my initial "aw, I wanted to sign Ronaldo and Cesc" I actually realized I think it'd be a good bit of business and it would strengthen us

He's not a long term replacement for Evra. He's 29 later this year, so how is that long term?

You want us to play him left mid is more baffling.

So not Fellaini, Modric or Luiz Gustavo, I can't think what CM's are left that would even be of interest to United.

hence the wording longish

he's left footed, he creates loads of chances, he's got an excellent set-piece delivery, I mean, his stats are rather good...

I just think he'd provide us with options, like I say, not necessarily what we need most, just entertaining that rumor - you mean to say you'd be unhappy if we'd sign those two?

Sick squad still lacking in midfield though which is how it's been for years. It would be a slight improvement though I guess,
