United in this Summer transfer window

It's funny. The transfer forum is full of shite at the moment. Yet there's not a mention of Ronaldo, despite him quite obviously wanting to come back to OT.

RM want Bale. RM can't get Bale. Thus RM will keep a hold of nurse for fear of finding something worse.

Simple really.

If Real really want Bale, they will get Bale.

Simple really.

Well, obviously they do want Bale. The comments of Perez and Zidane make this clear.

So I'm up for a bet if you are.

What is up with you and betting all the time, Glaston? I think you have a serious problem, pal.

Not really. I almost never bet aside from the few I've taken on in RedCafe, which I've all won ... even though one poster declined to pay up and then apparently disappeared from here.

And it's all on reasonably friendly basis money-wise. In fact I've declined a bet that I knew for 100% sure I would have won - and would have won as events proved - because the amount proposed was way more than I figured the poster involved could perhaps have easily afforded to lose.

So if there's a problem, it lies not with I but with those who bet against me.

It just seems as though a bet is a cowardly way of ending an argument that you really cant argue about. "I dont have to explain myself, I'd rather bet you for it. Dont want a bet, eh? I guess I was right then.."

A fair comment, though a bet doesn't have to involve money ... the winner could choose the tag-line for 1 year of the losing poster(s).

Anyhow, my original point was that Ronaldo will not be leaving RM this season ... or not unless Perez has a fit of madness, abandons his 'galacticos' obsessions and decides he'll go into 2013-14 with no Ronaldo and no Bale. I'll stand by that.

There is absolutely nothing to bet on. Generally if Madrid want a player, they get them. They have thrown Bale more than a few admiring glances and I'm pretty sure they will eventually make a move, whatever that is this summer or next, who knows.

If they nabbed Ronaldo from us, what makes you think that they won't get Bale if they really do want him?

Now that the Thiago deals looks to be going tits up I think the first order of business for Moyes will be to hold what we have, which means a new contract for the scouse scallywag and a big manly arm around the shoulder of Nani before pushing a contract in front of him. Anderson will be kept because as no one ever said, if you can't have a good CM, have one that the squad can laugh at.

Unfortunately I don't think Moyes powers of persuasion will reach as far as Evra but Baines will replace him and some journo can drudge up a story they wrote 3 seasons ago claiming they broke the story.

 Why do you feel this was worthy of mentioning?

Sorry, I didn't see this post until just now.

Because she knows as little as the rest of do about Ronaldo's true intentions. Basically, none of know jack shit about what's likely to happen with any of the players we're "linked to", such as Ronaldo or Alcantara or anyone else until it's an established fact that that player has signed for us.

Robben was supposed to be nailed on. Last summer it was Lucas Moura. Countless other players in between those two. There's nothing wrong with speculation on a forum like this, but we're really shooting in the dark most of the time.

With Fergie leaving this summer and potentially three influential players moving on (Rooney, Evra and Nani), I think it's imperative that we make a statement of intent. No tjust for the global image of the club but for the vitality and confidence of the team on and off the pitch.

Right now I am feeling somewhat pessimistic about those prospects, but recognize the fleeting nature of emotion in the transfer forum. I'd love for us to close an inspiring deal in the next week.

Daniel Levy the miracle worker, the amount of love Glaston has for the guy is staggering.

It's like one of those logic puzzle things:

"Glaston says Glaston's always right. Is he bullshitting?"

 well im stumped! Tbf though, Glaston has been right the one time i have seen him bet. Most notably against Lance uppercut regarding modric (iirc) a couple of years ago! Made amusing reading if nothing else!

Im leaning towards agreeing with him again on this one. Real want Bale and have made that perfectly clear, yet Bale has not asked to leave, and Levy will quite happily dig his heels in to prove he won't be pushed around. Same scenario as with Modric really, prove the point and get Bale to stay an extra year, then when Spurs fail to make top 4, he will be off to madrid next summer anyway! ;)

Got to say I'm a little concerned, Strootman looks like it's off (if it was ever on), Thiago looks more and more less likely as the days go by, seems Rooney will tell the club he wants out this week and the only player we've actually bid for is Baines which has been rejected and must mean Evra wants to leave also :nervous:

I bet him £25 back then. He must have made a pretty penny that day.

Was that over the same argument he was having with Lance? I think Lance was the one he was referring to who didn't pay up, even though Glaston was too classy to name him. Never been a betting man myself personally. My grandad advised me when i was a kid "you should only ever bet what you are willing to lose"! I have never really been willing to lose any of my money since that day!

Hard to read into anything too much until moyes gets back off holiday! it's been all change at OT this summer, so we could expect things to move a little less smoothly than in previous years. Don't lose hope yet though, if thiago stays, it will probably mean he will move ahead of Fabregas in the pecking order, so we can sign Fab instead! Silver lining charlene! :)

Loved the highlighted line by the way, quality! :D

It was a two way thing with Ronaldo though, he actively wanted to join Madrid too, no one knows if Bale has the same "dream"

If I remember rightly it was, he bet us all that Modric wouldn't leave in that transfer window.

Nope. Three other things are required.

A huge amount of money.
Bale has to want to go to Madrid.
Levy has to be willing to sell.

Not sure Bale is the type who is desperate to play for Madrid. Posh will have loved being in Madrid with Becks. They liked being the centre of attention. I think Bale and his family are more home birds.

I doubt that Bale wouldn't want to test himself at a bigger club. But if he has any brains, he will surely remember how Levy dug his heels in with Modric not too long ago. I doubt a transfer request from Bale would do much to influence Levy, and i don't believe Bale looks particularly unhappy at Spurs. He will probably give them at least another season, then by that time it will be impossible to accuse him of jumping ship first chance he got, he will have less time remaining on his contract and therefore would be in a far stronger position to negotiate a possible move.

Purely speculative of course, and much depends on Bale continuing to improve over the coming season, and at least reproducing the consistent form he has produced last year. If he does that, then Spurs have to cement CL football next year to reasonably expect Bale to stay beyond that.
