UEFA Champions League Round of 16 - 4/3/25 - 12/3/25

Thank God it was Barcelona that got this side of the draw and not Liverpool.
Yeah, but only Liverpool could get a Champions League quarter final draw of Aston Villa or Club Brugge.

It's mad. I don't think anybody could have seen that coming.

The bloke was bang average for them for two seasons, they were actively trying to get rid of him but couldn't - so they shunt him out to the left wing to make way for Yamal, and now he's suddenly Captain Tsubasa.
To be fair, a lot of players struggled under Xavi but you could see some flashes of what he can do occasionally. What's happened this year, though, is incredible.
And nobody would consider Raphinha their best player either

Because of a 17 year old
He's the one who'll win Balland'or if Barca win the title and yet its crazy that both Pedri and Yamal are probably even more important to Barca than him.

Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szobozslai, Salah, Jota, Diaz.

PSG: Donnarumma, Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Nuno Mendes, Joao Neves, Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz, Barcola, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia.

Liverpools game is set up for a cracker. Both have very strong teams out. Come on the Paris!!

Madrid or Barca are beating Liverpool anyway. (If they get through tonight) I still fancy psg

Raphinha was still at Leeds when we got Antony..... so happy we didn't go for Raphinha instead. We ended up with the correct left footed RW Brazilian. :annoyed:

PSG aren't winning tonight.

We should all know that by now, Liverpool and Real just get away with being shit in the CL and still get through.

Xabi Alonso is such a coward, this lineup, he is just making sure they wont get humiliated. Shick up top, but no wingers.

Watching Pedri every week, I don't think I've enjoyed watching anyone play football to this extent since Messi and Neymar. He's just a complete artist in midfield.

Barca are blessed to have a young talented team. Think most of there squad must be valued at 100m+

And a coach, who trusts his youngsters. If they manage to replace aging Lewandowski at some point, say with Isak for example, they'll be scary good. Ter Stegen yet to return too.

I guess one advantage for Liverpool/PSG is that Barca and one of the Madrid sides will need to go all out in La Liga still, whereas both of us are way out in front in our domestic seasons.

It reminds me so much of the joy I had watching Zidane play.

When you think about that, he's become unique because there aren't players like that anymore. Players who are scoring consistently while playing on the wing of their stronger foot.
These players have disappeared

I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing for Barca/Madrid to be honest. They'll continue to be fully focused whereas Liverpool/PSG could lose momentum if they wrap up their leagues early.

He's brilliant. In terms of ball carrying and decision making when to pass/dribble, who to pass to, it's beautiful to watch
Absolutely. I think only Yamal and Musiala are players that come close to exciting me like Pedri does. He really does seem like a hybrid of Xavi and Iniesta and has inherited a lot of both their qualities. Barca are so blessed to have two players like Olmo and Pedri in the team who are both just so so good with their close control of the ball.

Puzzles me just how many Barca fans still seem to want Leao/Nico/any LW despite how effective Raphinha has been all season.

TV going on mute for the next few minutes. Don’t know why the broadcasters indulge this bollocks

Yeah always a risk and we've seen sides wrap up a title early in England and then their form dips. I'd like to think Slot wouldn't allow that but sometimes it can't be helped. We're also a better side with match rhythm vs long rests.

Honestly Pedri and Yamal seem at a level above for me.
