UEFA Champions League Round of 16 - 4/3/25 - 12/3/25

Imagine PSG finally winning the Champions League after Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe left, hilarious! They built their whole project around those three and flopped, but now, without them, they might actually pull it off. Football, bloody hell man.

Luis Enrique is a great coach the way he lets PSG play now. Strange we never tried to sign him as a manager in the past.

like I've said yesterday, Liverpool aren't all that individually. they get results because they have amazing defence and one of the best keepers in the history of EPL, but chasing that goal just highlighted how few dangerous players they have on this level.

if it's not Salah doing his things... you're left with Jota and Nunez. kinda poor for what is going to become a dominant EPL champion. none of them would play for PSG.

Michael Olise played two really good games in this tie. He’s such an exciting player. Incredible first touch and very decisive and good decision making. He’s still flying under the radar a bit, I guess because he’s a quiet dude. But damn, what a great transfer he was for us.

By far our best winger.

It's also quite funny how reliant they are on him. As soon as any attack was developing they were trying to get it to him as soon as possible, hoping he'd make something happen.

PSG were definitely the better team over the two legs.
Deserved win for them.

Imagine getting a total run around in the first leg and then playing a almost full strength side at home to Southampton 3 days later when you know the second leg is in 3 days.

Absolute brain dead management.

But also hilarious in its own way too.

That would be a solid argument if not for the fact that we were much better last night than in the first leg and looked like the less fatigued team the entire second half.

Could've done with resting a few players though yeah (although Robertson and Mac Allister were), don't disagree there, but that's not what lost us the tie.

PSG should have thrashed them in the first leg. I think Liverpool just about edged the 90 last night but it was a fair result over the two legs.

Yeah, agree with that. Can't have too many complaints, they were class and we didn't do enough after going down yesterday. Could point to Salah off the line and Quansah inside of the post, but we also had our fair share of luck over the two games, especially with the Konate red card not given (I don't really consider the fact that they can't finish for shit as "luck" on our part, but that's another discussion). The only thing that leaves a bit of a sour taste in the aftermath is that we got a team as good as PSG after finishing top in the leauge phase (one for all the people on here talking about how lucky we always are), but on the other hand we always knew that this was possible, it is what it is and you just gotta beat these teams as well if you want to win the CL anyway.

Got to flip the switch quickly now and make sure that we're ready to go on Sunday. But even if that goes wrong, it'll all be quickly forgotten if we can raise the PL trophy at the end of the season. I'd still sign for that.

I would too, winning the premier league and champions league in the same year is an incredibly difficult feat.

I did not watch the game last night, just seen the highlights this morning.

How did you fare in extra time ? , just feel if more players had been rested, they would have been fresher and its games as tight as this, those small margins will make the difference between sneaking through or crashing out.

PSG were better in extra time. Felt like they had more possession and few good chances. Don't remember Liverpool having chances in ET.

Anyway, what do others expect tonight in Atletico vs Real game? Atleti are quite good but you'd think Real Madrid are too experienced in these kind of games and capable of getting result no matter what. I'm thinking it'll be a draw so Real going through to quarters.

I just want to see Simeone take the leash off his team and have them throw the kitchen sink at Real. Similar to how they had City on the ropes a few years back

Said to my mate a month ago that I think Inter win the CL this season, and I’m still going with that for now.

They are gonna be very difficult to beat over two legs, but they have had difficulty winning games against some of the better teams they face and a lot of it Comes down to a serious lack of mobility, pavard, acerbi, calhanoglu and mkhitaryan are all very slow and won’t be able to live with an on song Bayern or Barcelona. I watched for fiorentina 3-0 game and inter looked awful, and it was a very straight forward get in their faces approach from fiorentina.

What would people rather see? Barca Madrid final (I don’t believe that’s happened before in the CL) or the two stylistically best teams to watch, Barca v PSG?

I think most continental teams play a more measured game and don’t try to just run everyone to death in the way the PL teams do, so I think they can cope with the threats remaining. The slow players are mainly in the midfield, but in their backline - Bisseck and Bastoni cannot shift enough I feel to deal with fast forwards. I also think they will simply not be leaving huge space for those forwards to exploit and they are very organised.

I think it'll end up PSG/Real Madrid vs Barcelona or Bayern Munich, but I think Inter could get there.

I still think Arsenal could surprise people if they get Saka back in time. I don't think they'll win it though.

Inter ain't beating Bayern. No chance there. Not even with Sommer

Atletico are beating us tonight and Arsenal will beat them in the QF. PSG will fairly outplay Arsenal in the SF but they're still PSG, they'll probably bottle it anyways

Bayern are rolling now and they won't let Barcelona surprise them like in the group stage. They'll play more careful, pick them off in transition with their pace. Barcelona are young and still susceptible to wild swings in performance

It will be Arsenal vs Bayern at this rate
Can't see either reaching the semi finals.

What I'm expecting

Inter v Barcelona
Real Madrid v PSG

Only doubt is Real Madrid as their neighbours could pull the rug from under their feet tonight. If not a El Clásico Champions league final is very likely.

Nah, you're going through and with no Saka or Havertz, i don't think we'll have enough to beat you over 2 legs. PSG-Real and Bayern-Barca on the other side.
Real-Bayern in the final and one more CL for Carlo.

It will be nice to watch the CL without any stress now that Liverpool are out.

Social media will be a nightmare if Arsenal win it. Once they're out I'll relax.
Arsenal? Winning a European Cup?

I think there's still genuinely more chance of you lot winning it.

I was never stressed when they made it to the final the last few times. I was confident they'd beat Spurs and lose to Real both times.
