UEFA Champions League Round of 16 - 4/3/25 - 12/3/25

And rightfully so. That would have been the assist of the season so far for Musiala.

I think "decent" is downplaying Bayerns performance a bit.
We adjusted to Leverkusens insane pressing by playing WAY more diagonal long balls and we won the majority of second balls because we were more aggressive.
And against the ball our counterpressing and tackles were really good. Kimmich almost man marked Wirtz when he was in the center.
So i would say that the tactics and the mentality were spot on today.

The only good chance for Leverkusen was due to a mistake of Upamacano. Other than that they didnt have a single good chance.
Using your opponents mistake is also a sign of quality. And if Tapsoba doesnt hold Kane like that before the penalty he probably has a good chance to score after the corner.

Yeah, Leverkusen looked bad. But i think it was because we made them look bad. Just as it was the other way around in the league game 2,5 weeks ago.
Match luck was on our side today, i give you that, but that is also only fair after our game in the DFB Pokal.

Until now Kompany and Bayern were always criticized that they didnt win a big game convincingly so far.
So now that they have done it i would say credit where credit's due.

Yea it was markedly better than the last match at Leverkusen, then Bayern were just not able to control the midfield with Leverkusen's pressure. That being said, I don't think Leverkusen applied as much pressure as they did in that match. While Bayern had control in the middle, they still weren't able to create many open-play chances themselves. Besides the goal from Kane, which wasn't a clear chance in itself but rather a brilliant header, the only chances came off set-pieces; the Goretzka and Musiala headers. The story definitely changed in the second half though after the Kovar howler and them going down to 10 men. Regarding the Tapsoba penalty, the part of Kane having a good chance is why I think it was a harsh penalty. I don't think Kane was going to get to the ball as it was an easy collection for Kovar (though considering he dropped one earlier you never know ).

Anyways, Bayern really should get to the semi-final since they've wrapped up this tie and have Inter likely next. While I was about to say Inter have struggled in the league, I know see they're first after Napoli have seemingly fallen off a cliff recently. That being said, I remember Leverkusen beat them in the group stage so Bayern should go in as the favourites.

He looked so pissed when Palinha missed that open goal

Decent performance from Bayern, comfortable win but I think it was more Leverkusen being really bad than Bayern being great.
He has no right to be pissed. Take the shot yourself after your lovely bit of skill. Why is he laying it off when he's right in front of the goal himself?

Not that i ever watch PSG domestically, so he could be good for all i know, but whenever i see Donnarumma in UCL, i'm less than impressed, time for an upgrade?

GKs that are on par with him or better than him are unobtainable. MATS, Courtois, Allison won't move if their current clubs don't want to move them on. Oblak might be the one but even then I doubt he'd be an upgrade given his age profile.

Always the impression I get when I watch him (which isn't often). But also, aren't many world class or very good GKers around.

Yeah he looked like potentially new Buffon for Italy and Juventus (as it looked back then he'd join Juve) back when he was 19/20 but seems like he's not that good really. PSG should go for Onana to improve there.

Donnarumma just ain't it. He's good but he will always let in a goal that he should save in a big game. Milan haven't missed him and have a better keeper in Maignan (when fit).

How long does it take until Sommer's thumb is healed?

Yann Sommer usually gets into hero mode when he faces Bayern - and facing Milan clubs in knockout rounds aren't Bayern's best memories...

Oh, i wouldn't want you to sell Onana, how would you ever replace him?

Is Allison not on the move? Liverpool have a big money keeper coming in, so I kind of just assumed he'd be off in summer.

Can’t bother to write his name, but Giorgio Mamar will do for pronunciation now. Apparently not having a good season at Valencia so hopefully Allison sticks around. One of the other two(most likely Kelleher) will be starting somewhere else. He deserves it.

I'll stick with BMK. Or Mama if I'm dressed as Freddy Mercury in a confession booth.

Maybe a cheeky bid for Onana?

Barcelona currently 1-1 on the night v Benfica 2-1 on AGG were they meant to struggle like that?

Later on tonight I'll be stunned if Liverpool don't get at least a draw, prove me wrong PSG!

MATS is nowhere near the other 2.

Most Barcelona fans want him out and prefer their current keeper who came out of retirement.

Yamal is genuinely the best RW in the world and that includes Salah. Incredible almost every single match, even when he's poor.

Went goalless for months. Salah still better.
Yeah, Salah can be very poor in game and mask it with a goal. Yamal has still had very very good numbers this season and on top of that, he's actually fairly unplayable game in game out.

Benfica punished so hard for not taking their chances first match, Barcelona stole that with a random longshot from Raphinha and, in my opinion, bad goalkeeping.

That was bizarre. I guess they gave offside so referee called it back for the free kick, and then when it was inside the goal is given.

Raphina already has 11 goals and is only 3 goals behind Messis Barca record for goals in a single CL campaign. Considering they will have an easy next round I almost expect him to break it. He could maybe even give Ronaldos 17 goals a run the way he is scoring.

Raphina is putting in Ballandor level numbers and performances.
It's mad. I don't think anybody could have seen that coming.

The bloke was bang average for them for two seasons, they were actively trying to get rid of him but couldn't - so they shunt him out to the left wing to make way for Yamal, and now he's suddenly Captain Tsubasa.

And nobody would consider Raphinha their best player either

Because of a 17 year old
