UEFA Champions League Matchday 1 fixtures (18th - 19th Sep 2018) | Kick off @ 17:55 and 20:00 BST

Well no. At barcelona he was very active and did whatever the team needed from him

At PSG he's playing up to his worst habits with nobody able to call him out on it

Thank you.

This revisionism re: Neymar is annoying.

His move to PSG has brought out the worst of him.

The pundits in the studio all going on about the Cavani offside for the PSG goal, yet no mention of Neymar being wrongly flagged offside when he was clean through. Just like no mention of their stonewall penalty they should have conceded in the final seconds Vs Spurs.

I like to observe all these so called better managers than Jose. If Mourinho sets up his teams the way Tuchel (so far) and Poch have done today, he would have been slaughtered.
PSG have a chance in this if M'Bappe and Neymar actually do some defensive work

Robertson having far too much space

Nah, attacking and flair players don't defend. They need to focus on attacking. :smirk:

I'm very serious when I say this.
I just can't see anyone beating this Liverpool side. (It kills me to say this). They have a world class keeper now. They look so strong in defence. There midfield just press and harass like no other and their attackers just score for fun. And too top it off they have strength in depth.
How can this be ???. I hate klopp more than Moyes....But hats off to the cheerleader!

Are we sure Tuchel is good? Why is he playing Marquinhos as a DM when Liverpool literally has zero threats from attacking midfield area for him to mark.

PSG constantly look mentality unprepared for big games. Fraud team.

Their CB pairing isn't that good. The full backs have potential, but are not as consistent. Their keeper is dodgier. They don't have a playmaker in the middle, or a Ronaldo on the rings (Salah isn't that good).

And oh, a far inferior manager who doesn't really have a good record at winning - which is why they keep coming close but don't get over the line.

But yes, I can see a few similarities.

So basically a poor man's United 06-09

Conversely, would Tuchel and Poch have set up the way Mourinho did against Sevilla?

It's a silly point to make.

As usual this season we're a bit shit in the first half. Hopefully we get on second gear and get the win in the second.

Liverpool went from a decent side being carried by an otherwordly front 3, to an extremely good and solid side from goal to midfield with a "merely" good front 3. Impressive. If Salah and Mane have it in them to be great this season, i reckon they'd be my favourites for CL

Neymar seems to have stopped working hard since he went to PSG.

He needs to move back to a big league.

He wasn't this lazy at Barcelona.
He has no accountability at PSG since he knows he can do whatever tf he wants because he’s the star (Mbappe and co aren’t at his star power yet), whereas in Barca he was down the pecking order behind the likes of Messi, Suarez, and Iniesta who he probably respected which helped keep him in check. Neymar probably knew Barca was bigger than him, but at PSG he feels he’s bigger than the club.

Arm chair managers showing they are clueless. Theres a reason Guardiola is so highly rated, its not easy to play the way City do and maintain defensive solidity.

Thats also why SAF is the best manager ever. He was able to get the balance between attack defence at the right place for 2 decades.

Agree with posters pointing out the lack of defensive effort from Mbappe and Neymar. Liverool are constantly spreading it out wide in the final third with their wingers/fullbacks having loads of space to run into or cross from to their dynamic forwards. It's too easy for them at the moment.

I think PSG could benefit having Cavani play from the right, and leave Mbappe up front. And ideally a kick up Neymar's arse, but I guess you can't do that at PSG.

Perfectly said

Would Neymar just play regardless of how badly he plays? Be interesting to know if he’s ever been dropped or even subbbed at PSG through playing badly.

Would you still have them in that category of “best of the rest” with Athletico, City etc, or would you say they’ve fallen below that rank now? I will confess it’s been quite some time since I’ve watched them.

They are well below that right now. Would put them in maybe fourth tier with the likes of Galatasaray, I honestly wouldn't expect them to even beat Porto or Monaco (third tier). No German team other than Bayern would, German football looks to be at its nadir after the heights of the early 2010's.

Fully agree with you.

Yep. All these arguments are pretty stupid. And defending with 10 men isn't the only way to play Liverpool at Anfield.

By luck or a true stroke of genius, LvG happened on the ideal system at Anfield where we won 2-1 in his first season. That was the perfect formula at this ground. Measured focus on attacking with a solid backline. Sure, that was Rodgers and not Klopp, but the approach would certainly work against Klopp's style. No need to park the bus and hope for a point if you have some tactical guile.

Right 2nd half I need:

1. Liverpool to score and 4 corners for them for £125

2. Both teams to score, Mbappe to score and TAA & Milner to be carded for £250 (from £1 bet)

He could use some of that treatment, but he has too much power at PSG. If any manager tried that, his daddy would kick up a fuss and the manager would probably get fired. Sad how powerful players have become.

Agree with you. He had respect for Barca. And description for him and PSG is funny( because it is true:))
It's not just that he had respect for the club, they signed him as a young superstar joining a team with Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Pique....he had to prove himself to them first and foremost

PSG were so desperate they spent waaay too much money on him and bent over backwards to make him happy. It's like it's PSG who have to prove themselves to him now. And that's never a good thing

Have I missed something? Did Liverpool win anything recently?
Can’t remember what they last won and when!
Was it a Carling cup?
This season it looks to be coming all together sadly. They look strong in all areas.
