UCL Round of 16 - First Legs - Feb 18 - 26

Demechelis has been a massive liability for City. I was shocked they didn't go for another CB during the summer.

It makes you wonder why they didn't play the CB they have on the bench who is infinitely better.

Barca going for the jugular now it would seem. lol, here comes lescott, now they are really up shit creek without a paddle.

A newbie, GameOn, responded to my chat about Bayer and the Bundesliga. Somebody promote him soon.

I don't really know if you were serious about the Bundesliga and Arsenal, but as a Newbie (and Bundesliga expert) here is my opinion: Leverkusen are known as the greatest bunch of bottlers someone has ever seen, they usually get hammered in games against big names because they always shit themselves. But if they play normal opponents, they are always very clinical and good in defense. Overall Dortmund is far better but they struggled the first half of the season due to an enormous injury list. As far as Arsenal-Bayern concernes, there is always a chance for the underdog, but if Bayern plays concentrated they are by far the best team on the planet right know and Arsenal could easily be hammered.

I'm gutted, I said to my girlfriend in the first half that Demichelis would cost them the game, probably by being sent off. I should have put money on it, could have won a pretty penny.

Barca are gonna have 80% possession for the rest of this....City will be like the walking dead by the last ten minutes

Before the game I was nervous City would sneak a win and hold on to progress in the Nou Camp. Their fans would be in meltdown, they'd fancy themselves to win the CL and our small noisy neighbours would be the self proclaimed biggest club in Europe.

Less than an hour gone, Barca looking to kill off the tie.

I am absolutely fecking loving this.

Ooh, "best defender on the planet" Vincent Kompany was the one playing Messi onside for the penalty, by being about ten feet behind the rest of his defensive line.

It was a penatlty, the contact was made in the box even if Demichelis was tackling early.

As Gary Neville would say, the other defenders were too high up. He was the only one in the right place.

Manchester City 0-1 Barcelona
A shellshocked Manchester City have just 30 minutes to salvage something from tonight. Want some good news, City fans? Martin Demichelis is now suspended for the second leg...

Is Townsend having a quiet cry to himself now? I haven't heard him in ages

Are those posters who claimed United got out of a really tough CL group still going to peddle this myth?

Leverkusen finished 2nd. How on earth?
I already said it before the first game against United this season, the whole club is so weird, no one understands it. All their players shit their pants the moment they play a big side in Europe. They've beaten Bayern last season and managed a draw this season in the league, won in Dortmund this season. They can play good football, but the moment they face a big team, it's usually embarrassing. 2 years ago, they lost 7:1 against Barca, this season the games against United and today again. Yet, they can beat Donezk 4:0 and Sociedad twice. It all makes no sense.

Leverkusen down to 10 men now, should be fun in the last 30 minutes.

Pity they have an easy run of league games coming. Defeat here could screw them up a bit.

@Vato1979 - may be a silly question, who would you guys rather progressed? Your biggest rivals, or the biggest squad of plastic mercenaries in Europe?

What a joke. They get by far the most help from officials in the Champions League.

I have heard no chanting all night to be honest.
