UCL Round of 16 - First Legs - Feb 18 - 26

It's fine to say that with a still image but it's a lot harder for the ref to see it with them moving forward at that pace, that tackle takes place over a few yards and is over and done with in a second.

True enough, Spanish TV awarded a red card and no penalty, interesting that the English commentators were still looking for a foul on Navas. They don't know what to complain about

Is Busquets actually immune to yellow cards? Be good fun if Barca get someone sent off too.

Momentum is taking him inside, definite peno.
Penalties are only given for fouls inside of the box. Not fouls made outside of the box but momentum brings the player inside the box. In real-time it's obviously extremely difficult to discern whether or not it is a penalty - I thought it was a penalty too in the beginning. But the reality of the situation is that just like every year or so, Barcelona get favourable decisions in knock-out ties...

Definite penalty, sorry.

That's the key part of course, because the referee only gets that part, he doesn't get another go to look over it. Wether or not he should is another argument altogether.

It's a favourable decision but I'm not sure I'd hold this one against them.

It's the same as the Pepe-Alves red card from the 2011 semi-finals. It looked like clear contact to the referee but they once again got a crucial decision in their favour.

Just like this one - a penalty that resulted in an away against Manchester City.
