U21 Euro Championships 2015

Southgate said he was too inexperienced and lacked the positional discipline to start.

Maybe Southgate should have gotten him more experience. England just seem to pick an ex-player who struggled as a top-flight manager to coach the U21 team instead of someone good at developing youth.

Wouldn't Meulensteen or someone from a good academy like Southampton be a better hire?

Much better midfield, but the wingers are still not ideal - Schulz and Younes. What's wrong with Arnold?

Sly! There you are. Just wanted to say congrats on Sportings cup win. Found out late.
So hope you had fun. :)

If you support Sporting.....:nervous:

Thank you mate. Yeah it was excellent day. It was our first silverware in 8 years, so you can imagine the party.

About the game today, not very confident and the german manager was smart to reinforce their midfield since it is our stronger sector, but i hope it´s a good game and the players give everything. Some are extremely tired but so are the germans, no excuses there. We don´t have a good historial against them but someday we will have to break the cycle. We just need the spirit of Sérgio Conceição in our team

And the lineups:

Germany XI
ter Stegen - Korb, Ginter, Heintz, C. Günter - Geis, Kimmich - Younes, Can, N. Schulz - Volland

Portugal XI
José Sa - Ricardo Esgaio, Paulo Oliveira, Tiago Ilori, Raphael Guerreiro - William Carvalho - Joao Mario, Sergio Oliveira - Bernardo Silva - Ricardo Pereira, Ivan Cavaleiro

No surprises. We barely rotate the lineup besides Mané and Rafa inclusion against Italy. Not sure it´s the right strategy in these short lenght tournaments.

Tobias Figueiredo replaces Ilori who didn´t recover in time

Ah classic portuguese finishing

What happened to Bruma? Wasn't he supposed to be a great talent??

Rui Jorge prefers other options. That was kinda expected when he choose to go to Turkey. Still has potencial to be one of our best wingers in the future.

No idea why the hell he moved to Galatasaray. Such a talent.

Commentators saying that the historial actually favours Portugal at this level. Didn´t knew that. Thought the germans had the edge

No doubt he´s getting good money but his career has stalled. When he was at Sporting he was getting called to our senior side. He has alot of talent but in mental terms he is too easily influenciated by his agents.

Yeah I know. 20 isnt the age to me making money though. He's just ensuring he gets the big move much later than he would have had he stayed at a good league. Typical short term money move which makes no sense not just from his career's perspective but even from the money side long term.

Portugal look excellent, deserve the lead.

We are playing well but i just don´t get the point of going constantly to the line and crossing since we only have Cavaleiro in the box and he is useless. Nice play by Sérgio Oliveira.

Edit: 1-0 Bernardo Silva. Deserved. Germany very bad so far

Can should have done better there, that header was horrible

That´s what i fear the most. Like what happened against Sweden. We usually struggle in those plays against more physical teams.

2-0 Ricardo Pereira. Germany´s defending  We never score from corners and seeing Ricardo Pereira who is one of the shortest players in the team score is strange.

You're probably not the only one thinking that now :D

 Two goals and one ball off the post, well done by the boys so far. Rui Jorge seems destined to be a serious case as a manager in the future.

Ivan Cavaleiro what an useless player

Close Germany, nice save Sá. Incredible he has been playing for Marítimo B :wenger:
