U21 Euro Championships 2015

Well on the basis of that I can't see anybody beating Portugal. That was a brilliant team performance.

Denmark vs Sweden coming up. Should be a good match

I didn't know the Portugal vs Germany game was on at 5, I missed it. :( I thought it was one semi tonight and one tomorrow.

5 fecking nil  can't imagine this place if that happened to England.

Looks like a poor call - just a coming together judging by the first angles.

I´m thinking Germany´s system is due for another intervention, cause it only produces (attacking) midfielders and goalies on the male side. Defenders and strikers are shambolic. And the female side is also trending downwards technically and tactically. But there peak fitness, strength, organisation and the usually strong German goalkeeping history can compensate for a lot.

Red and white eyes. My blue and yellow eyes saw a clear cut penalty decision. He ran in to him from behind. Clumsy challenge. @Sly , a neutral's view?

2-0. This feels weird. Sweden doesn't win stuff.

LOL. Everybody was like Germany vs. Portugal is the real final and Sweden is just trash. Lock Denmark in. Turns out it might have been the German group that was the weak one.

Yeah, it was a clumsy, reckless challenge. It´s harsh but i´d call it a pen too

If that was a pen then we would see around 10 pen in every match!

I really like what i've seen from the Swedish team so far this tournament. Alot more talent there than I thought. Lewicki has impressed me the most, he's like our own little Scholes.

Lucky Swedes. Debatable penalty and the second-best team for me. Hoping for a quick goal, feel like we're still in this.

Think he loses the ball in dangerous positions to often in this tournament

We certainly have a few problems in certain positions, but let's not go overboard. Spain for example didn't even qualify for the u21 Euro.. This summer we reached the final in the u17 Euro, the semifinal in the u21 Euro and the quarterfinal in the u20 World Cup. If 4-5 players out of those 3 teams become quality and good enough to start for the senior team, we don't have to worry about our nationalteam at all. Also, since UEFA started those youth tournaments in the 70's, we've won only 1 u21 Euro and reached one more final out of 22 tournaments. While I enjoy youth tournaments and think it's great that there's a bigger focus on them today, we shouldn't overrate them either.

I think our risk-limiting style and tactical maturity compensates for lacking the type of talent that the other teams has. These youth teams play very risky football and they lose the ball in dangerous areas so much that we don't need our own play to break them down.

Oh come on! Well, best team lost. Hopefully Portugal will wipe the floor with Sweden too.

Oh yes. Still I hope they tackle these issues and address them before we have another period like between 1996 and 2006. Clearly the youth system is pretty good, but for some reason it does not produce defenders or strikers. For the last 11 years Philip Lahm, Miroslav Klose and *insert CB here* have covered three crucial positions and behind them it always looked pretty dire. So they might have to tweak something there in the scouting or/and training to produce some proper fullbacks and strikers.

As for the women´s side. I think they are totally in the "rest on their laurels" phase.

Bitter?

No way we'll defend worse than Germany did.
Yeah I'm bitter, think we were extremely unlucky to lose that. Except for five minutes after that dubious penalty we dominated the entire match.
