U21 Euro Championships 2015

Nice game from both sides. I hope both go through to the next round.

I am very happy with the performance of our two kids. Very mature.

Not pleased with the way Portugal played. A bit better in the last 15 but in the first mins we were atrocious. If it wasn´t for Sá we could have been 2 down. Di Biaggio did some good changes. Much better in relation to the match against Sweden.

Finally Rui Jorge opened his eyes. We need a striker reference to bother the Italian defence, so they don´t pressure as high. Rafa can´t hold up the play and is a very poor on his own up front. Gonçalo Paciência (son of former Porto glory Domingos) on

Guess they didn´t see England vs Sweden. Hope they don´t regret playing for the draw. Carvalho looks injured, bad news. Looked like he was struggling since the first half. How the hell Benfica didn´t give Bernardo a chance :wenger:

Sérgio Oliveira back to being rubbish

Bernardo really had some magic moments. Even though he didn't succeed in everything you just get the feeling that he's a level above most of his teammates.

10 goals for Monaco in his first season. Nine in the league and one in the Champions League. It pains me to say it since he is a Benfica youth rank product but you are right. Thankfully they didn´t take advantage of him. Got 15 millions for him but with a run in the team, i think they could have gotten more

This last chance just shows how rubbish our striker is. That´s why we play without them

Unsurprisingly i got it right with the 0-0 but it wasn´t a dull match. Every team can still qualify

Since goal difference isn't the decider. For Sweden to go through, Italy need to draw (Sweden need to beat Portugal, ye sure) or preferably beat England (Swe would need the draw vs Portugal). It's looking rather positive for the english..

Why not? We haven´t been that amazing to be fair. It´s different matches but you played much better than us against Italy. And we will probably lose Carvalho because he played injured according to the reporters so i doubt he will play in the Sweden match. We have a slight advantage but every team still has a chance like i said.

Still feel a draw will be enough, from what I've seen i dont think Sweden will offer too much offensively and will probably play compact again like they did against us, could be wrong of course. Stones should be back for us which will be a massive boost, Moore and Gibson don't seem to have built enough of a repport to play together yet.

One shall hope. We do have a large group of supporters on our side as well. Milosevic back from suspension (red card is only one game, right?), although Baffo played really well vs England (prob go back to rb, liked the look of Nilsson-Lindelöf at the same time.. from Benfica). Hmm..

He´s a good prospect. He is getting promoted to Benfica´s main team after doing very well for Benfica B. It´s up to him now though since Benfica´s squad is very competitive.

Watched the first half yesterday and switched off because I was falling asleep it was so boring. I did see the Lingard goal in the highlights.

If this is what we have as our generation then I fear for the long term future of the national team, none of them apart from Kane and maybe Loftus-Cheek look good enough. Most of the midfield were too similar to each other, Tom Carroll looks like he is of the same mould to Tom Cleverley and Ryan Mason running around but not actually doing anything of real note and playing five yard square passes. Pritchard got a lot of praise in the build up to the match but I thought he looked rather lightweight. I wasn't overly impressed with Hughes either, he's been billed as a hot prospect but he's been round for a while now yet no Premier League club has bought him, why is that?

It will be tough for us but anything can happen. I don't think people are aware of just how bad Allsvenskan is and how poorly it pays(less than half of the Belgian league and one third of the Portuguese league in average.).

Even if we often do have some players both for the seniors and juniors who plays outside of Scandinavia, the backbone still plays in our own league and it isn't sufficient which is our current problem. We have four starters last game who played outside of Scandinavia in Tibbling, Nilsson, Guidetti and Thelin.

Our coaches are also of the same sort of quality unfortunately. The last time we did well in a youth tournament we managed to get so many of the players out in Europe, even if the failed horribly. So hopefully we can squeeze through here.

He chose to stay.

England has better talents in the 1995 age group and after (Loftus-Cheek is one of them) due to the improvement in coaching methods so I don't think you guys should really worry about it.Still have some outstanding talents in this group like Stones who was out injured and obviously some already made it to the full national team.

England's team is so average, asides from Kane. Think they'll struggle today. Guidetti and Thelin will cause problems.
Average? I look at that team and think it's pretty good. Many of those players aren't 21-23.

Yes average, many play in the championship. Pretty good is a team that has Wilshere, Sterling and the others that quality. This team is painfully average.

You've got Liverpool prospect on the bench in that team. Your own promising midfielder. I don't know what's so bad about being 19-20 and being a starter for a Championship team like Will Hughes. He's promising. So are Butland, Jenkinson, Redmond, Chalobah and Kane. Chambers and Targett on the bench and the United lads who are decently rated on here. Perhaps not world class talent the lot but what are you expecting? Seems like if it isn't a golden generation then it's average?

Can't say I know much about Garbutt, Gibson, Moore or Pritchett but comparing your side to mine that finished 2nd in their group behind France and got beaten by a 90th minute goal by group A winners Denmark and on paper there isn't a contest between the two teams. Just think you need some perspective.

I'm not English.

Will Hughes is painfully overrated. That's the issue. There is an incredible step between doing well in the championship compared to doing well in a top league or on the international stage. Jenkinson is very average, will have a career in the bottom of the Premiership at best. Redmond the same. Chalobah has stagnated for years and shows no signs of progressing in my opinion. Kane is absolutely class.

Kane was struggling and not even starting in the championship at some of those ages.

I simply don't agree. Jenkinson is average yet he plays for one of the best teams in the world. I think people hyperbole way too much regarding defenders.

I think it's weird saying that a player who has 20 and has had 5 different loans has stagnated. That's another thing. He's 20. Not all players are Hazard. Sure, the odds are stacked against him. Especially as he's playing for Mourinho who simply doesn't give youth a chance, but that doesn't mean he's average. Well, that depends on your definition of average. Is Jon Obi Mikel average? Is Loic Remy average?

dont like the england lineup but hopefully they will win....

Chambers, Loftus, Hughes on the bench, madness.

Not surprised from a such mediocre one boro reject like Southgate

JWP injured? I know he didn't play well in the first game, and I missed the 2nd game

didnt play in the second.....on a positive note, Carroll is finally on the bench!

Not too confident with that midfield, what on earth is with Southgate this tournament? Forster-Caskey should have been a last resort at the very most, frankly it was negligent to take him over another winger which has meant we only have Redmond and Lingard left, but to start him in a crucial game as well? And Chalobah? Chalobah has after a average club season for some reason become the midfields only certain starter, completely at odds with the qualification and friendlies.

Loftus-Cheek should have been starting after his sub appearance, and Ward-Prowse should not be bombed out the team for one mediocre performance (which was certainly no worse than Carroll who started the next game and Chalobah who's started all 3). If nothing else his set piece delivery should have him starting, lest we have another game of Garbutt providing heading practice for the opposition.

Not sure starting Ings and Kane is wise either, they didn't work too well together against Sweden. We're letting Italy win the midfield battle in favour of those two providing a greater attacking threat which is a hell of a risk in a game we probably only need to draw.

Someone on here said Garbutt is usually good with the set pieces.

Garbutt has Baines syndrome from world cup. Clearly its an Everton left back thing, any crossing ability goes out the window at an international tournament.
