U21 Euro Championships 2015

Good win but feck me, England U21's are eerily similar to early season United. Only 3 shots on target but plenty of possession to bore the opposition.

That would open the group up a bit!

I hope i´m proven wrong. Even in the Figo, Rui Costa U21 generation where we had an amazing team, we lost to them 1-0 in extra time in the U21 European Championship final. We are cursed i say.

On a funny note we beat them last week on senior level without Ronaldo and with a goal from freakin Éder

He shouldve started ahead of Carroll in midfield against Portugal, he could've given Carvalho a harder time physically.

Yeah i bet he would struggle with that. Specially after outmuscling Matic in portuguese league matches

Pleased for Jesse. Jenkinson and Loftus-Cheek played well.

Moore is absolutely pathetic. Is that really the best out there after Stones?

Very much like watching us for 70% of the season. Meaningless possession.

Two strikers is pointless. We won't create enough for them.

Are you really blaming England for that dull affair? Sweden played for the draw with 10 men behind the ball for most of the game!

Well Sweden just needed the draw. They gambled with the result and lost in the last mins. It was dull match because of both teams i guess.

Other than Kane, of that starting 11, I don't see anyone having a career at a top 8 team.
Probably true. I do see Lingard having a career at a PL club. Not special by any stretch of imagination, so he might almost never make it at a midtable club let alone a top club in the PL, but definitely got a few good attributes to make it at a number of lowly clubs in the league.

Ings, Stones, Chambers, Kane, Loftus-Cheek, Jenkinson and Ward-Prowse will definitely have top flight careers. I am dumbfounded as to why two of those players were on the bench today. Especially Chambers, he was playing Champions League football this season whilst Moore had a failed loan in The Championship!

Sweden might act/feel hard done by but if you play for the draw for the whole game you deserve that kind of thing to happen.

Great strike from Lingard.

Lingard saved England from another dismal tournament exit. Obviously Cheeky needs to start the next game and I think we might as well play with Igns and Kane up front as Carrol and Hughes have not taken their chance in the hole.

I also think Southgate should bring Chambers in with the returning Stones as neither of the CB's look good enough to me.

We have let Lingard stagnate for too long at United, he should have gotten his chance after that terrific pre season some years ago. Not knee jerking but he's a very good talent, hope a club come and get him.

Didnt we give him a chance in first season game where he got injured?

He sure proved that poster wrong! One good strike that the keeper should have saved.

Made the difference in a tumescent game that was must win and was dangerous previously against Portugal. Fair to say he's more then worth his place in the squad.

Oh I'm not doubting he would've still got the better of RLC, hes an absolute monster but come on, you don't think he would've put up more of a fight than Carrol?

Feck.. decent game from Sweden against a better side. A shame they couldn't get something out of the game. Going to be difficult to qualify now.

I really like Simon Tibbling. He's so tidy on the ball and is really good at finding space for himself. He's also so adorably awkward in every interview. The Swedish Scholes ;) ..maybe

I was just messing with you. And you are right obviously. My biggest criticism of England against Portugal was your midfield and Southgate´s defensive tactical setup.

Ah you got me.

I'll agree with you there. I think he was relying too heavily on Chabolah to break up everything in the Portuguese final third, you were too easily able to get hold of the ball there so could control the middle of the pitch. Chabolah had a poor game then and another one tonight, unfortunately we don't really have another option for defensive midfield.

What has happened to Bruma? He was supposed to be the next big thing at one point.

He´s at Galatasaray. He did alright this year i suppose because we just recieved a two million euros bonus because of appearances and performances after he won the league there. I think we are trying to bring him back since they want our left back jefferson. We are trying to pull a Nani but it will be harder because he is attracting interest from clubs from bigger league such as Italy and Spain. But Rui Jorge has his own choices that´s why he wasn´t called up. His and Bruno Fernandes (Udinese) absence has raised some questions over here. Lots of potencial, very good in technical terms and pace but there are some questions regarding his mentality.

Southgate is loyal to his players that helped the team qualify. I understand that but if we are going to progress I feel that we need Loftus-Cheek in the team. Chabolah won the U17 European Championship with England when he was only 15 but he just hasn't kicked on and is most likely looking at a career in The Championship. Personally I would go with RLC, Hughes and Ward-Prowse but it looks like Southgate likes RLC further forward so he will like replace Carroll who is a major disappointment.

@Sly

Cheers for the info.

No, I think it was in SAF last season. In Afrika. Or Moyes.
He was the outstanding player during the summer of Moyes, though that was a particularly poor tour from the team as a whole. Moyes should've used him during the season on the back of that pre-season, but that's about the least of the things Moyes did wrong

Really hate playing against the italians. We could be one down already :nervous:

Meh i think Carvalho has an injury

Half expected today's game to be a repeat of the Portugal game. Might have been, had Sweden carried some attacking threat. Wasn't impressed by Redmond's performance, far too quiet on the right wing, and didn't have much influence when he drifted central, and the sooner we can bring Stones in for Moore at centreback, the better.

I like Chalobah though, he has a nice calmness on the ball. I don't really see him as a defensive midfielder, his strengths seem to lie in his ball control, and his ability to move the ball about. I think he needs to leave Chelsea though, and go to a higher level Championship team. He's young enough that he could get promoted with someone like Derby next season, and play first-team for them in the Premier League, and then move his way back up the ladder.

Bad performance by us so far

Agreed Chabolah hasn't shown anything in the last two games to start against Otaly. The problem being is if he feels he can trust RLC or Hughes in the deeper role.

Two teams with excellent technical ability playing hoof the ball :wenger:

Unless your lads pull their socks up looks like your worst dreams might be coming true - Italy started well

Yep, it´s the usual with Italy. We just missed the easiest chance of the match :(

That move deserved a goal, lovely play.

I´d love to have Ings as a striker. Yes we are that desperate. We are going to play the whole tournament without one.

Just two fouls by us. Looks like an english premier league match. That´s incredible given our nature.
