U21 Euro Championships 2015

Just when you think they look like they're picking up some momentum.

Chabolah is getting worse...

Loftus, Hughes, Prowse on the bench, it's incredible

team selection from Southgate is really bizarre - a load of average Championship players like 'Arry said. Michael Keane played nearly all the qualifiers and doesnt get a look in for the main event, no coincidence that the defence is to blame tonight.

Gibson and Moore have been pathetic too all tournament and you have Chamber and Keane on the bench?

They're shit scared of Kane.

How have we played? Look like we can claw this back?
I'm sure a lot here will say how shit we've been, but we've been much the better side, just two moments of craziness.

Ugh, watching the senior team doesn't look as though it's going to get any easier anytime soon.

England have actually played pretty well but there is no spark in this midfield , I have been blaming Chalobah but the Foster guy has been virtually invisible

With the ball, just a nothing performance. Everything is slow and safe. Without the ball, this defence has looked like a pub side all tournament.

We have been slightly better in fairness. Chabolah and Forster-Caskey have been pathetic in the middle of the park. Chabolah has the second worst pass completion behind Kane in the team, that is simply unacceptable in his position.

Redmond has completely gone into his shell in this tournament none more so than today.

Cheeky should have started. We all know it.

Just like the full England team, we're able to have majority possession in a game against another team without looking dangerous. Our issue, as always, is not that we can't keep the ball, it's that we don't have enough movement off-the-ball to translate possession into dangerous chances or pull defenders out.

Yeah spot on, in fact Hughes or Ward-Prowse both should be in there ahead of the 2 selected by Southgate.

Up against it and England revert to a 4-4-2 or am I looking at that lineup incorrectly? Both Kane and Ings strike me as fairly static #9s so I can't imagine one is playing from the left or off the front. Just got home though so I could be wrong.

Gibson instead of Chambers, I don't think he is better than him.

Thorpe is class above Gibson and Moore......the main problem for england are managers, you can expect that they win something when they are lead by Stuart Pearce and Gareth Soutghate ffs. The decision to play 2 strikers when your midfield struggles in previous 2 games can only be made in england camp, shame as this team has potential.

all to blame goes on Southgate - WTF is he thinking with this team selection?!

Forster-Caskey has not played 1 minute of this tournament so far so why the hell would he start him in such an important game and whats the rush to bring Stones back from injury? conceeded only 1 goal in first 2 games.

Hard to understand how players like Chambers and Ward prowse are good enough to play regularly in the pl but can't get into this team

Old habits die hard for English football. Pundits who played football are a little like that too. When a game goes against your team, the default response is to revert to 4-4-2. Hell, even half of the 'Caf did it when United were struggling initially to adapt to the new style and system.

More to the issue is when guys like Southgate try to modernise by employing a 4-2-3-1 system without understanding that you can't just put square pegs in round holes. Systems aren't just shuffling players in different areas. Roles of the players change, different movement required. Might be why Ings seems static behind Kane.

Think you might be right, also Lingard switched position so he could be more a winger.
