Don’t want to be a downer in this thread, but him coming through the first 6-8 weeks back, playing any level of football will be an achievement in my eyes. Then, I’ll be thinking he may be an option for the 1st team and top level football with proper integration.

Be good to get him in the shop window for Jan.
Yeah teams are going to be queueing up for somebody who's played a handful of minutes against Huddersfield in 2 years.

Shhhh, if he plays 5ish times before Jan begins with Amorim starting brilliantly then we can catch a buyer! Have faith.

I was very impressed with his first few months. Went through tricky stage 2nd half of season which isn’t unheard of from younger players moving to big clubs

Then has been injured ever since. I’d love to see him get another shot if if he recovers

People come back faster from ACL injuries. I wonder what really happened.
I mean it's been fairly well documented what happened. The abridged version is that he went for surgery with someone he chose and not the club. The surgery did not go well for Malacia. He had to have further corrective surgery. This is obviously something you don't want to happen to your knee, especially as a footballer, even in today's age of medical science.

At one point there were rumours that he might be done. Plenty of young players have been forced into early retirement like that.

Happy for the lad that he's able to play pro football again. Hope he's able to carve out a good career, whether it's with us or somewhere else.

I really hope he gets over his knee issue and it doesn't become a chronic problem, or he's done. Glad to see him back finally anyway.

I just haven't seen a valid reason to sell Malacia from anyone on here that are advocating for it.

He was bought for peanuts, he's one of our lowest first team earners, seemingly has a good personality and mentality, is content with a squad role, and has actually been decent for us at both sides of the defense.

Why sell him for like 2 million instead of trying to rehabilitate him and see if we can turn him into the player he was pre-injury? It's also a bad look for the club to just throw out a player who just missed 18 months at the first opportunity.

No valid reason to get rid of Malacia yet.

Correct. Play him, let him play well. Let him have an increased value. Then sell him.

Not really following your logic here? Selling a player who plays well? Doesn’t seem to be the cleverest way to build a good squad if I’m honest.
Especially when we have such a dearth of options at LWB for Amorims system that we have people advocating we try the likes of Anthony there.

The Malacia I remember was dynamic, pacy, good on the ball and a dogged defender and I'd like to see what he could do under a new manager if Amorim gets us playing to our full potential.

First things first I hope he came through last night's game ok.

Well said. Some really weird and toxic views in our fan base.

Good to see him back. Suspicious he's back since trump became elected, but what do I know..

I mean that he's had an injury layoff that's been worse than reported. There's next to no information on why it's taken this long. He's a good player but not sure I want to rely on a wingback - who's role is going to be super stressful in the Amorim system - who has had a terrible injury and must play in a football season that is get busier by the year.

He is not some superlative talent that's worth taking the risk is where I'm coming from.

looks like he's filled out a bit

if he can stay fit who knows, maybe he can get back into the fold

He’s our starting LWB
His ball carrying technique isn't very good and he's not great on the overlap. He's much better coming infield and he is a very good passer of the ball. Probably better to suited to the back 3 then a LWB role.

Hopefully won't pick up common muscle injuries after having been out for so long. I thought his first season was promising so hopefully he can get back to it.
