Liverpool won't pay £37m on Carvalho. Because that's what they'd have to pay.

It depends on a few variables for me.

If they receive 80m odd for Suarez, then I could see them blowing half of it on Carvalho, while spending the other half on a replacement for Suarez. If however Suarez sticks around, then no chance will they blow probably the majority of their transfer budget on one player.

Liverpool need a winger and a centre back more than they need a midfielder.
Especially not at the price of £37m I'd imagine their maximum budget must be about £60m

Good news on the DDG front. If Athletico keep Courtois, Barca get Ter Stegen then I think we should be safe with him for the distant future. I doubt he would ever go to real.

If Liverpool get Carvalho and Arsenal get Di Maria then I'll be very annoyed, I would love Carvalho here.

I think that was sarcasm? The deal was pretty much confirmed months ago.

The tweet was sarcastic but if the quote is legit then it's good to know it's a done deal.
Yeah, looking back, it was confirmed ter Stegen would leave Monchengladbach when they announced they were signing Sommer, but no confirmation was given he was joing Barca at the time.

Matins Indi? feck sake, he plays more often at LB than at CB. That's proper bobbins Alice. :nono:

Martins Indi is a decent young defender but he never struck me as potentially top class. That said, he's versatile and as far as I know he's got a good injury record. I wouldn't mind bringing him in so long as it's in addition to Hummels or another top CB.

He doesn't really have an in with the club I don't think. Does interviews for a radio stations so he might have spoke to some people who would know but I wouldn't take much from that.
Except his radio show is the official partner of Machester United news in the states....or something like that.

Martins Indi certainly isn't a name I'd even considered but a relatively versatile left footer who Van Gaal knows reasonably well would make sense if he was available for a decent price.

Was it Demichelis that said that Van Gaal preferred a left footed player in the left hand side of a defensive partnership? I don't know the numbers but I guess there aren't that many about - Mangala, Ogbonna, Vermaelen, Chiellini - probably others but not a huge number and not all available / reasonably priced.

Over in Italy, Juventus fans are panicking over Antonio Conte as reports about an exit grow. Probably trying to up transfer budget.

Out of that list Shaw and Carvalho are the only two you'd think would be easy enough to get. Hope to Christ Woodward knows what he's doing.

Perhaps this explains why it took him about 3 weeks to get back from Australia. He walked.

Mark Ogden has done a rundown of our Summer 2014 transfer plans:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ransfer-news-and-rumours-for-summer-2014.html

On the wanted list: Toni Kroos, Marco Reus, Luke Shaw, Edinson Cavani, Cesc Fabregas, Eliaquim Mangala, William Carvalho, Arjen Robben, Thomas Muller and Mats Hummels.

Looks ambitious.
  • Toni Kroos - Possible
  • Marco Reus - Won't leave this summer
  • Luke Shaw - Looks likely
  • Edinson Cavani - Very expensive
  • Cesc Fabregas - Possible
  • Eliaquim Mangala - City bound?
  • William Carvalho - Very expensive
  • Arjen Robben - Bayern might get rid
  • Thomas Muller - Another AM!?!?
  • Mats Hummels - Don't think Dortmund would allow him to leave
Agreed, very ambitious.

I know there's no speculation but I think Garay will sign for us. One year left on contract and we need a central defender.

We really should be in for him, had another great season for Benifca, shouldn't cost over 20 million.

It isn't beyond the realm of possibility that Robben becomes a serious target. His age doesn't bother me and we could do with a player like him. If he and Van Gaal get on, well...

Was it him or Ribery who said they hated playing for him? Or am I completely wrong?

Lionel Messi will sign a new record-breaking contract extension at Barcelona by the end of this week. [Daily Mail]

That's not going to please Ronaldo..

I saw Antonio and had a twinge of excitement that Valencia might finally be getting linked with a move away from the club :(

I don't see why Di Maria would leave Real Madrid. He's been one of their best players this season and is always in Ancelotti's strongest XI. ahead of Isco. Any rumour involving him makes no sense. He's not playing second fiddle to anyone at Real.
