7 renewals in 11 years; that is just ridiculous.

They need to keep him happy. He's worse than Rooney. He gets away with it because he is very valuable to the club and such a good player.

This will be his last big contract. If he complains again, Barca will probably tell him to feck off.

This is true but if Barcelona showed even the slightest hesitation in not treating him like a king, you can guarantee that PSG, City and anyone else with a bottomless pit of money would be tapping him up

Or least that's my view on it

And he told them that if they didn't give him what he wanted(before the world cup started) that he would look at other options.

He will not hesitate jumping ship.

Bit like Keane in 1999....Wanted United to break their wage barrier, United laughed at him...Munich, Milan, Juventus, Barcelona and a few others all contacted Keane....United and Fergie shit themselves and gave him what he wanted

Messi is very unlikable, probably a high maintenance diva. Wasn't it him that basically made Pep quit Barca?

What annoys me the most about him is that he is painted as some sort of down to earth saint. A darling of the media. Much like Henry was when it was clear he had an ego the size of Greater London.

He's a petulant little child. The stories about him with the likes of Ibra and Villa, along with the one where he played an entire training session with a spoon in his mouth and didn't say a word speaks volumes about his so called "perfect footballer" image

He has done an extraordinary job at fabricating his image. It is that false image that has helped him be even bigger. Every debate involving him always revolves around him being a humble person. The club also protects his image.

Yes he is, he'd have any club by the bollocks.

So do you think Rooney is bigger than Manchester United?

Messi is not bigger than football. Personally, I have only watched Messi play 3 games this season. If Messi were to retire tomorrow, I wouldn't miss him. And I am sure football would go on without a hitch,

Rooney has proven as much. The club have allowed Rooney that position, we couldn't risk losing him, he had us by the bollocks and was in complete control. Like it or not, it's true.

It's a very narrow way of determining if someone is "bigger" than football/a club. I'm not sure it holds much water

So who would be a better mate, Ronaldo or Messi? I reckon Ronaldo would be dead nice and let you hang out at his house and watch telly whenever you want. He'd always reply to text messages really quickly and "like" whatever you post on Facebook. Messi would probably be cool too, though. Let you have a go on his Xbox and stuff. Plus make you sandwiches when you were hungry.

Gee, it's a tough call when you think about it.

Am I doing this right?

Messi seems like a hipster....Can't be having that

I read Ibra's book twice. He likes Messi, they got along. messi discussed how he wants to play centrally and Ibra played there, but they got along well.

That's good they got along, which I am sure I have heard before, but that second part is one of many incidents where Messi wanted it his way.

You can buy the speculation from the media all you want, but every player has a preferred position. I seriously doubt Messi demanded it or something along those lines. Besides, the move to centre forward has proved to be a pretty good one..
