Where would he go? Would he bought to be a striker or a winger at the new club?

Not saying it can't happen, I just can't see which top team out there would be interested right now. Everton need a striker :nervous:

Everton? Yeah,would do well there.

He'd be fantastic for them.

I could see it happening too, £25m and he turns into a 20 goal a season striker under Martinez as their main man.

Problem? Throw 300,000/week at it.

By doing that we've actually made the problem worse.

We're soon to become a mercenary club, run by the players with a constant succession of managers as soon as the players don't like him. Fortunately for Moyes, he panders to the 'big' players, so mutiny won't be an issue.

If we were to get a strong-minded, assured manager, however, he'd be out quickly, that is, if we go along with this big players, big wages policy we appear to be looking towards now. Fergie never had a raft of superstars, and as soon as players became unruly they were shipped out.

Imagine Moyes with your Krooses, Vidals, Reuses - good lord, it'll be anarchy.

Frustrated by playing time? He seems to have gotten quite a lot of game time to me, unless he actually wants to be seen as first choice ahead of Rooney or RvP.

He has been getting alot of playing time, but only sparingly has he been used in his preferred role. If you could remember Sturidge at Chelsea, the situation was similiar towards getting few games in his preferred role.

Which is why if he does go, a lot of similiarities will be drawn to that of Sturridge departure at Chelsea. With the former(welbeck) having a comparable ceiling to the latter, it is safe to assume that if he goes to a club like Arsenal, he could be a catalyst towards a title winning team in the future. If Martinez remains at Everton, they could also win it with the way they have been playing. Manchester United would obviously survive without him because sir Alex Ferguson has laid the foundation for the club to not enter despire, but his departure would hold question mark for future acedemy products and what would have been with Welbeck leading the line or having a role in our team.

Question mark towards players like Lingard, who despite his excellent pre-season might aswell start looking for a new club. The Keane brothers, Pearson and Wilson aswell, if we continue this policy of overlooking our acedemy players for established players. Young managers like Martinez, Pochettino, and Brendon Rodgers has shown that it is not all about looking for established players to build a great team and other managers should really aspire to that standards.

Surely it can't be just game time. Is he wanting game time as a centre forward? He's played 31 games this season. He played 39 and 40 games in the last two seasons. He could end the season on 35 games if he plays the remainder of the fixtures. That's a fairly standard amount for our whole squad as an outfield player, as we've been in complete rotation all season long.

Right now, I'd rather see him play centre forward over Wayne Rooney.

he played 1288 of possible 3000 minutes in the league. 365 of 900 in the CL. Considering that RvP was injured a lot, its not really surprising, that he is unhappy about that. He is a squad player and he´ll never more than that for Manchester United. If he wants to be "the main man" he has to join a club out of the top4.

There is a definite similarity but with Rooney and RvP still here I don't see how we can accommodate his wish to play in his main position. I'm sure next season will see a lot of Rooney behind RvP as our main starting line-up, and those two aren't suited to the versatile front 3 system Liverpool use that has benefited Sturridge, it's a shame but when we gave Rooney that huge deal it seemed to plant our flag as regards to how we plan to set up in the coming seasons.

Me too.
I bet quite a lot of those 31 apps have been late subs on the wings.
Welbeck absolutely loves United to bits and if he wants to leave it tells me something is seriously wrong.

Everton is the first team I thought of as well, he would be perfect for them.

I think he wants to be given opportunities as a striker, not winger.

"Raheem is the best in Europe - Rodgers" - at what exactly?

FFS, he has been impressive lately but that's just ridiculous.

He said something like "as a 19 year old, he's the best young player in Europe at the moment" from what I remember of his Sky interview.

Probably hyperbolic anyway. Who's he competing with, Gotze and?

Nothing wrong with building a young players confidence.

Gotze is almost 22 to be fair.

Sterling has been absolutely fantastic. Not just decent...

He's not wrong at all. I can't think of any players under 21 performing better than Sterling.

At least a sign that maybe moyes could get the sack and the rest of the posts are discussing Sterling

Exactly. It's better than saying the squad isn't good enough/blaming a young player for not training hard enough/saying your squad won the league last season because other teams were crap.

You couldn't make it up could you?

I've worked for shit bosses before who you work your ass off for, get no praise and get knocked down at the slightest mistake. Everyone who works there doesn't give a single shit, people are loathed to put in the extra 10% and it just doesn't work.

I doubt a football club is any different, probably magnified if anything.

Sturridge wasn't given a fair crack of the whip and believed he should be starting. I'd wager Welbeck thinks the same. Both are fantastic strikers, i have no doubt that if Welbeck was given a long run in our side as a CF (not a fecking winger) he'd be a success. So yes, same situation does apply, both will leave for first team starts and both will prove they're fantastic strikers. I imagine a number of clubs would be in for him if he did want to go. I could see him flourishing at Spurs.

I agree - Sturridge deserved a chance because the players he was up against weren't performing.

I don't think you can say the same about Welbeck.

He may do well at Spurs or elsewhere. I still wouldn't have him in ahead of RVP or Rooney.

It will be when he leaves and is played consistently as a striker and scores ~20 goals a season which I strongly believe he has the potential to.

Even if he does, what does it change?

If he wants to go because of lack of games then the only option is to pick him upfront week in, week out.

He might do well, but he isn't better than RVP and Rooney.
