 I highly doubt its true, and where would he go anyway? He's not good enough for a top club. Can't imagine Chelsea or somebody trying to sign him

So United are not a top club?

There are many clubs who would like to sign him.

Who are you again? Im entitled to my opinion. He doesnt cut it for me sorry

What does who he is have anything to do with it?

You're ridiculously wrong about Welbeck.

journos know there will be a lot of transfer activity,do they ll simply link each squad member with a transfer. If we are to believe them we ll need to replace 10-15 players next season(de gea,Rafael, evra,Río,vidic, smalling, fletcher, cleverley, nani, welbeck, rvp, hernandes, giggs were all linked with leaving the club).

I doubt the story is true. If their is some truth to it, I rather we loan Welbeck to tottenaham and get him game time like what Chelsea has done to lukaku. This is done to give him consistent game time and help him develop as a striker, rather than playing him all over the place like what we have done to Kagawa. Once Van Persie retires, he can come back and fill his boot when he has established himself as a striker.

Welbeck has been a productive member for United and has been consistently used for our big games, while also showing some noteworthy performances against the lesser opposition. As a reason, I can not see why United would sell Welbeck unless he wants more gametime as a striker. My hypothesis is, that watching sturiddge who was considered his lesser two years ago improved significantly because of consistent game time has made Welbeck question his development at United. If United are not willing to develop a young striker like Liverpool done with sturridge, maybe for his career it is better to seek a team like Tottenham, Arsenal or Everton who could do just that to his career. It would be a great move for Welbeck, but like Chelsea with Sturidge, a bad move for United. In particular when Welbeck and Rooney seems to be our only productive strikers under Moyes so far.
I highly doubt it is true but I was thinking about it at the start of the season that Welbeck could actually have done with or still do with another loan. He is very talented and with consistent game time as the main man up front I am sure he would be scoring 15+ goals for a Tottenham, Everton or Arsenal. If it was just about his development a move away would be best for him like Sturridge. As it is here I don't see him ever nailing down a spot up front. He'll continually be used all over the place up front and never get a long enough run to establish himself as a top striker. Something I think he is capable of. As it is though he'll always be the back-up option. If we got rid of RvP and Hernandez I don't see Welbeck being trusted to step up and another big striker would be brought in. As you say leaving would likely be good for him but awful for us. He's a big United lad though so I highly doubt he'll think about leaving.

I'll be gutted if he goes. He's a great squad player and a local lad, it will be strange if he want's to leave.

It would be another signal that the players don't want to play under Moyes. If that's the case and we choose Moyes over loyal servants of the club, I'm gonna cry.

You think he's good enough for Utd to try sign if he belonged to some other club?
That's not the point, who knows? Would we have went after Butt, P.Neville, Evans, Cleverley, Fletcher to name but a few? The point is, like Welbeck they came through the system and have had a very successful career, we didn't have to go after them, we already had them.
There has been loads of youth players who have left the club and went on to have successful careers. Welbeck has always been in or around the first team, he's still only 23 and is a very good squad player. He's a full international and will most likely be heading to the World Cup.
Against Bayern he was one of the best players over both legs, and have played well when played in his natural position this season.

Ive said to people on here before that the problem with moyes and the players runs far deeper than you think.

People assume hes moving on dead wood or ageing players ala vidic, Rio, etc. You will be surprised at some who will go simply down to the manager.

Woodward will not know what has hit him if he sticks with this impostor. Not only will Rio, vidic, and evra go. Add Carrick, fletcher, welbeck, rvp and Hernandez to your list.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least if the likes of Welbeck and Hernandez moved on.

Hernandez I totally understand but why Welbeck?

That said, as I've said before on here, If welbeck wants to become the best player he can be, he'l need to leave us. I seriously hope its not a permanent move away but kind of a Lukaku to Everton thing for a year, 1 full season of PL football at Everton as a striker and he'l become a top player I reckon. Unfortunately, I dont see a loan deal happening at all and understandably so perhaps.

I'd imagine both of them want to be lead players rather than bit part actors. They're both in their prime years now, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone if they left - especially since we're in transition and neither look like they are going to see more action in the future with Moyes.

Yeah, I can understand that. Fact is though, Welbeck atm isnt good enough to be the lead striker at a Manchester United and I think he knows that. But he has all the tools to be one which is why I'd much rather he had a loan at Everton than leave the club. I really have high hopes from the lad, he'l be a top player :(

Spot on.

I've often said, Welbeck would likely always have a role at the club, but probably not as a nailed on regular.

I suspect one issue is his England place. Forwards, more than any other international position, get picked on form. Hard to hit form when you're playing sporadically and in umpteen different positions. He probably realises this and I always suspected that at some point he might want to go.

It's a shame if he leaves but the reality is he won't get in before Rooney or RVP upfront and he isn't a natural wide player. If we get a big fee it might benefit all parties.

I don't see why he would want to go on loan when a good side might come in and commit good money for him to show he can be a regular long term, rather than slotted in for a season.

And he's not a 19 year old - I personally think that if he were going to kick on to the level he needs to it would have happened by now or at least looked like it might.

As it is, if and when Rooney or RVP move on, the club will likely want a top class player upfront to lead the line - as most of the best sides do.

I think it's clear he isn't going to be a regular starter upfront. If he's happy with that, then great, if not then It's not fair to hold the player back.

I doubt that.

But yes, this is bollocks. And it astounds me how underrated he's here by some.

The news is bs. And he is criminally underrated by almost all in football, not just fans but also pundits. And although we will never find out if he would stay with us even if we are relegated because we probably wont ever be, he is a massive fan and so I think he would stay. He is a local lad, has grown at united. There are several video clips of him where his passion for united clearly shows. Genuine passion. He would stay. I think there have been several players who stayed with their clubs even through relegation. Welbeck is one of those kind who would do so. Take this with a pinch of salt. We really cannot decide how much he loves the club and whether he would stay through relegation. This is just what I feel he would do. :)

Remember when Anderson said lots of players wanted to leave because of Moyes? It's getting truer and truer. Apparently we're just going to let Moyes tear the club to shreds because we're too proud to sack the lame bastard

I think signing RVP has gotten in the way of his development as a striker. He was coming along nicely in the 2011-12 season. Although he played quite a number of matches last season, he played more on the wings than upfront (where could I find stats for this?). But playing him like that has aided in his overall development. He has grown into a tactical role but his development as a striker has certainly faltered.

Yeah - let's turn this into another "lets sack Moyes" issue.

If he wants to go its because he wants more games, in his preferred position.

I suspect the vast majority of managers would pick Rooney or RVP upfront over Welbeck.

Fact is the club is in transition and players will be coming in, possibly top players in sons positions. Some players will realise they won't be regulars. It's as simple as that.

Welbeck can go, he's a squad player who falls over a lot. Not a big loss

I can’t imagine Rooney on the bench in this game. He’s ready or not, I will be surprised if he doesn’t start.

I expect a tough game. They will be on fire, we will be “trying” to get something out of this one.

Moyes likes Welbeck, wont be leaving

Surely depends on what the player wants? I think if he wanted to go and Moyes can't guarantee him first team football he'll be away. Especially if the price is right.

No sense in having unhappy players.

Eventually yes, lots of players are kept for a while after they ask to leave

He's a local lad and we're a huge club. Am pretty sure he'd be fine with a loan spell at say Everton for a year if he can come back a much better player capable of starting for us regularly.

That cant be an excuse though. That comes with being at a top club, you'l always have top players as competition. He's done well though, whenever he's played. What he needs now is a season as striker, no fecking about and I dont see it happening here.

Yeah fair enough. Its all hypothetical so cant really say for sure either ways.

No white-text? Don't you think that you are being a tad too harsh?

It probably is too harsh but the ridiculous over-rating of the lad forces a dichotomy of language. In truth he's a decent squad player/rotation option but around here that description isn't good enough or acceptable, so instead he's "brilliant" or "fantastic" or "hey look here's a stat that proves he's better than Messi", and I think that people who disagree with that almost feel obliged to be perhaps overly harsh as a result.
