The Club have watched him enough to know if he's worth the money. I'll have to trust them on this one as I (like many) don't have enough knowledge on him to form a sensible opinion.

Have talksport ever broke a (true) story first?

They broke Owen to United first. I remember listening to the show live thinking these guys were having a laugh, but they were definitely the first.

Don't judge me, I was a different man in the past, I've changed and no longer listen to the station.

35 million? For someone who plays well in his first season or so in the Portuguese league?

DO NOT WANT.

People with far more knowledge of club finances and finance in general sanction our transfers and what we pay for them. If they decide to pay X million for Carvalho, its because we can. Stop moaning for moaning's sake. They're not asking you to chip in.

This, plus all the Sporting fans seem to be raving about him. It sounds like he's just what we need. I don't really care about the fee.

The only exclusive talk sport would have is micky quinn finishing a bag of chips.

They only do what likes of goal.com etc do and rehash stories from elsewhere. Everyone knows we are after this guy so its not hard to bring out a story like this in april for it to EVENTUALLY be right come june.

They also had these 'exclusives':

Hazard to utd (agreed)
Rooney to psg (remember that 120m story!?)

See, its quotes like this that annoy me:

talkSPORT understands United have already agreed a fee of around £35million with Sporting Lisbon and finalised terms with the midfielder on a five-year contract, although the deal will not be made official until the transfer window

What does that last sentence mean?

no transfer is official until the transfer window.

So why say that?

are they saying it wont be made public until the transfer window? Because thats what football clubs do, they keep these things secret for shits and giggles. Awfully convenient for utd to want to keep this secret so when it is eventually done in 2 months time talksport can say 'I told you so' yet if it doesn't happen nobody will remember.

We've had links with Lisbon for over 10 years, we are kidding ourselves if we think the club don't know every little last detail about this lad before Moyes even took over. We will probably have his dental records on a file somewhere.

Gundogan just re-signed 'til 2016, apparently.

I would have been incredibly nervous if we bought him this summer. Lets see how he does when he recovers.

The short extension seems to be the club giving him assurance that they will not abandon him if his back flares up and instead offering him a peace of mind to rehab with them. Offering big money for him was always out of the equation for any team.

The amount of money we spend is only an issue if we buy a player that you don't want at the club (eg. Fellaini). I'm with Jay... couldn't give a toss.

Thread seems to be tailing off about fee's for player's but either way, I'd imagine Gundogan signed that contract purely to keep him safe, if his injuries don't ease, he has a nice wage for a while longer... That's the only logical reason I can see.

Did his previous deal include a buy out clause? As if not, perhaps this one does, that would be an incentive for both him & Dortmund.

So Luke Shaw favourited this Tweet:

Hmmm.

The cynic in me....so me.... thinks if he does this sort of thing (which he obv knows will be picked up) it could scare chelsea into upping whatever they have offered.

Why else do it? From a cynical point of view. ...

He's 18. That's exactly the kind of wummery I'd have got up to when I was 18 too. The only difference is that I'd have drawn a picture of a nob on there somewhere.

Has no one else accidentally favorited things on their phone? I've done it a few times and I'm assuming that's what he did. He probably gets hundreds of those every week and was just skimming through them.

It would be a daft move even if he was coming here.

Has he said he's feeling red on his MySpace account? That's when I'll believe it's done.

Does he have a kid so we can see if he is wearing red or blue?

What do they know that we don't? New kit deal? Moyes leaving?

The market knows something, or thinks it does. Maybe another investor is about to purchase a large number of shares as Bamco (sp?) did a while back.
