I agree with most people here, we have to be looking at better quality than Lallana. Someone like Draxler for example.

What is this obsession with English talent? It's so overrated & overpriced. Germany & Spain are the way to go.

If we want a player who can play on the left I'd prefer Griezmann or Munian. Or of course Reus.

I'm a big fan of Lallana, I really am, but we need to be more ambitious.

Indeed. If our plan is to improve our squad to the extent that it can win titles even with Moyes as the manager then we really need more substantial signings than Lallana. Nice player from what I've seen but not really the level we need.

If we're looking at wide players we should be looking to buy someone more athletic with pace and finishing. I think the qualities Lallana would offer we already have in the squad between Kagawa and Januzaj. Classy player though.

Alessio Cerci would be a great player. Skillful, pace, good finishing and wouldn't cost the world.

How amazing would it be if he's done his scouting all over Europe and his major targets are Shaw Lallana and Coleman?

I was thinking the same thing the other day. It’s like “premiership proven” is the most important factor.
I understand that we probably won’t get players like Reus this summer, but as far as wingers are concerned there has to be someone better than Lallana on the continent? I would take Shaw though.

Almost as amazing as the apparent upgrading of our scouting system so far leading to our targets being Fellaini, Baines, Fabregas and Mata. Those hidden gems just weren't available to us under Fergie's antiquated regime

I quit twitter ages ago but will someone please do me the favour of asking this irish fella who works for a radio station in LA where he gets all this info? He is seeking attention for his show nothing more nothing less. My gran is more 'ITK'.

Madness, if true. But if you consider that Young is on 120-130k per week it seems decent ...

I don't trust this guy with anything. I didn't believe when he said last week that it was difficult for us to get him, and I don't believe him now that he says that we are offering Kroos this extra-ordinary amount.

IF we are indeed offering him these kind of wages, it is easy to see why he would want to leave Bayern though. I mean, these are the kind of figures that even the oil clubs don't pay. Bayern would pay him approximately half that, and that too if he digs his heels in.

I think Shaw is a good long term investment and I rate Lallana higher than most here seem to, but in Kagawa and Mata we have two players of a similar skill set, and you could even add Januzaj to that list. If we add another wide attacker I think we need a jet heeled bugger to burn up fullbacks, preferably Reus.

To be fair, which elite players will want to: a) play for Moyes and b) play without the Champions League?

That will be our biggest difficulty if nothing changes regarding point a) this summer.

35 million? For someone who plays well in his first season or so in the Portuguese league?

DO NOT WANT.

It is, but if Rio and Young were to leave this season - going off of reputable sources - it would recoup in the region of £240K a week. We have a lot of heavy earners at the club who no longer play integral roles in the squad or should be considered surplus to requirements, so we should be looking at recouping a lot of money in the way of wages.

In all fairness, City signed Fernandinho for 30mil+ from the Ukrainian league and he is 28.
Carvalho is 22 and arguably the best player in his superior league.

Not exactly cheap but could be worth the money.

Oh im sorry. I didnt know you were helping Man Utd pay for him. So Im guessing you have never seen him play. And just because you havent heard of him you dont want us paying £35m for him?

I think this will be one summer where I won't care how much we pay for players.

I think the 35 million tag has to be a potential cost. There is no way Sporting could demand that upfront for him. If we win titles, Champions Leagues etc, I can can see where the 35 million comes from but not just for his signature.

People will moan now but if he goes elsewhere and does well then you just know the same people will moan about us not paying the fee for him.

It's not a far-fetched story really, and not one I am surprised about at all. I will certainly give Talksport a bit more credit should this be officially announced in the next coming weeks with similar figures reported.

With Madrid sniffing around there could be some truth to this, about him signing that is, not the fee.

You will when we get that fair play transfer ban.

Why will we get that? It's not like we have a sugar daddy. Plus, if RM can spend 100 million on a player, I am pretty sure we will be safe.

As long as we make the CL next season then we'll be fine with the FFP.

They don't finish 7th in their domestic leagues and set targets of trying the make top four the year after. Like someone said aslong as we are backing this money with the aim of ruling European football it shouldn't be a problem. Performing like Spurs for the next 3years whilst players sit of £200+ wages wont. I just hope they are thinking everything throught and not just what our bumper funding can afford.

Exactly. I've seen and heard enough to be excited about this guy, and at this stage I'd be pretty gutted if we were beaten by another club.
