Who is this guy and why does everyone believe Woodward see's Cavani as some marketing merchandise. I don't see any United fan really caring for this signing nor did I realise he was such a big shirt seller across Europe and South America.

The United we used to be is dead. It's all about the short term now. We will end up like them if we're not careful. Short term managers that bring in short term (late 20s-early 30s) players to be successful, with probably little interest in the team beyond their contract.
Fergie and Gill despising Woodward I can fully believe. He's undoing all their work and breaking traditions that this club was built on whilst our fans lap it all up.

You seem to be having plenty of dinners with the Moyes's.

He just had daniel Taylor on his show, so he's got some contacts.

Taylor wrote a piece a while back that we had two deals in place, so that doesn't seem BS to me.

Seems to me that even Daniel Taylor knows feck all. It wouldn't surprise me if the much fabled "list" doesn't even exist. From everything I've read that sounds very unlike Van Gaal.

Don't think its short term, but the emphasis is to quickly get back to top 4 level with seasoned pros while building for the long term slowly. I think we realize, we can't immediately start conquering the mountains.

The concern about Schweinstiger's age doesn't really matter. Having such an established player in the midfield would do wonders for us. Not exactly like he's a total 36 year old past it playing for a modest club, he's only 29 and still a class player at Bayern Munich. Apparently just doesn't fit into Pep's style.

The best thing about the Cavani link/rumours is the idea that Woodward is infatuated with him. He doesn't have much by way of a football background but he's certainly taken to Cavani's hair or something.

On what basis are we deciding journalists know feck all, if we don't like what they write? What's our 'sitting in pants with vest covered in yesterday's dinner ESP' are we using?

I thought it was media bollocks and truth be told it probably is, but if LVG has in fact vetoed the Kroos deal, I'll be so disappointed. Fair enough, if he's got plans for another midfielder, there's no need for a player that LVG doesn't rate that highly but I really don't see which other midfielders of similar quality are willing to come to United at the moment. Obviously, there's no point in bringing in players that the manager doesn't want but when they're of the quality Kroos is, it's hard to see us turn him down when you look at the state of our team. He's ten times better than any midfielder we currently have and the fees bandied around were pretty fair too. Fecking hell, it's gonna be a long summer. Let's just hope Woodward and LVG don't feck up the transfer window like he and Moyes managed to do last year.

Maybe no one knows anything because there's nothing to know at this point and we are waiting for van Gaal to get back from Brazil and make some choices.

So am I suppose to believe that we've cancelled quality deals we've been working from quite a time ?

How much dumb can twitter get... However if that absurd shall be confirmed by the club or BBC / SkySports I think I'm gonna die a little bit inside.

The Kroos thing is bs because the most optimistic sources, were saying that we had a deal in place with the player and that the only thing missing to close the deal was an agreement with Bayern, which was always the toughest point.

If Bayern don't want to sell, what can Woodward or Van Gaal do ?

I think maybe what van Gaal is doing/does is look for people to fulfil very specific roles within the team. Rather than look for signings with the wow factor or even players generally good, such as Kroos.

I refuse to believe that we 'pulled out' of a deal for Kroos. There's just no way that's possible, right? Right!?

I'm not hitting panic stations like some yet, you'd have to think (if there's any truth to it) that van Gaal has someone in mind other than just Strootman in 7 months time.

I really hope this isn't true. You would have to question LVG's eye for a player if he decides he doesn't want Kroos.

Well he's apparently targeting Bastian and Hummels so I don't really think there's too much to worry about in terms of his ability to spot a good player. Not thinking someone fits your system or what you're after is not the same as not rating a player.

We don't even know what is true and what is not... LVG is focused on World Cup and perhaps he will scout a little bit for us there but tweets like this one just totally change perspective and it doesn't make any sense now.

He had Kroos once and shunted him all over the place. No chance Kroos wanted to play for him again.

Utter bollocks.

Van Gaal loaned him first season he was there. Then the next season played him next to Bastian. Hardly shunted all over the place.

I believe it when they put out something substantial with a story/quotes to back it up. There hasn't been much of that since the Kroos/Fabregas stories so it's clear they're either getting fed less information or very little is going on behind the scenes(I find that hard to believe considering our current predicament). This had led to stories along the lines of 'United have looked at player x but don't want them'

I think sometimes what people don't appreciate is that real life isn't like fantasy football or FM2014. You don't just buy good players for the 'oooh' factor. If you do this for a living, as van Gaal does, maybe what you look for is specific attributes. So many people bemoan letting other teams sign top players without our interest but maybe these players don't have the specific skillsets required. If we wanted a midfielder who had a bit of pace (as an example) then if everyone around us signs £50m CMs and we sign one for £20m, we're going to feel we got the best player as we'd be signing someone who has that specific attribute we need.

It seems too many people are like a WAG in a shop picking out a new handbag. "How can anyone not want it? It looks wonderful and looks very expensive", but it isn't always about that, especially for someone who seems to have such a tightly defined tactical approach as van Gaal.

Even if this was true (it isn't), I'm pretty sure LVG saying to Kroos "I want to drop a shit load of cash to sign you and will make you my key man in midfield" would be enough to get past any trepidations Kroos might have.

So the only transfer stories you believe are ones that everyone confirms on the record is happening? So you never believe any then and are presumably constantly surprised when almost every deal happens?

I've read on various places that Woody has tried to freeze out Fergie. It wouldn't surprise me if that was true.
