Yeah that was really taking a gamble saying Moyes would be sacked. How does some lad in California know whats going on with Woodward and Van Gaal?
And yet our journos had absolutely no clue on whether he'd be gone or not until 24 hours before the sacking.

That de Brun guy also gets prominent Irish/British radio people or broadcasters on his show from time to time. He can't be too much of a fake if he has a show on a subscription based satellite radio.

1. Can't spell Phillip properly.
2. His surname (De Brun) probably means "the brown", and we all know what "the brown" is.

Can't be trusted in my book.

Superb!

Not really, if we'd hired any manager that was able and willing to continue to build on our traditions, I'd be all for it. Even if it was Giggs or Martinez I'd have given them a fair crack at the whip.
What exactly are our traditions in your eyes that made Moyes suited to it and not Van Gaal? Van Gaal plays attacking football, Moyes does not. Van Gaal has as good of a record at developping young players as anyone, while Everton's youth team coach spoke out how Moyes constantly ignored the youth team. Van Gaal is a proven winner, Moyes... well we all know how he negative he is and the extent of his trophy cabinet.

So please tell me, why do you think that Van Gaal won't be willing and can't continue to build on our traditions?

Is there some sort of rota system devised between the journalists/ITKs with transfer stories? Something like:

Hack 1: breaks "exclusive" linking United with big name target.
Hack 2: takes on hack 1's story and develops it.
Hack 3: adds credibility to the story, but adds some doubt at the same time.
Hack 4: kills the story dead, but starts/resurrects different story.
Hack 1: develops this new story, etc.

Keeps the industry ticking along throughout the window in the absence of actual news, and creates material to pick-through in the aftermath as required during the narrative that develops throughout the actual season. Keeps feeding itself.

Pretty much, it's only when you have all the reporters reporting the same thing at the same time when you realise they're actually in the loop. Most other times they seem to know eff all.

Just two days ago this guy tweeted United are 'very confident' on signing Hummels, yet today we are 'nowhere near signing anyone.' I generally think that all of them, including Taylor, just don't know where we're up to with transfers at the moment or even who we want. So instead we get anything from a wild rumour about yet another new target, or the polar opposite and a doom and gloom article that we're not going to end up with anyone.

I really hope this isn't true. You would have to question LVG's eye for a player if he decides he doesn't want Kroos.
He was his manager before so he knows all about Kroos, but I think he chose not to go for him because Van Gaal isn't somebody to just buy for the sake of it, he wants somebody who will suit the system. I know everyone hates speculation on how he will have us playing, but I'm pretty sure it's just going to be a 4-3-3, with a defensive midfielder, a box to box player, and an attacking midfielder in the midfield trio. We already have more then enough for the attacking player, so all things point to Van Gaal wanting the energetic box to box player, which isn't Kroos, or Fabregas for that matter. Strootman or Schweinsteiger, or Vidal, are players who Van Gaal probably wants for that spot, let's just hope we can get one of them in.

Sensible post.

Who are our attacking midfielders? Rooney, Mata and Kagawa are #10's, it's not the same role, one requires a lot more defensive tracking back. I also don't think Schweinstieger is a box to box player anymore, he hasn't got the legs for it, if we bought him it would surely be as the holding player.

Give me an example of a player you consider to be an "attacking midfielder"

I like how MUTV keep bringing a different journalist every week to tell us the Shaw deal is done.

Guess if we tell Luke Shaw he's going to play for us next season, he'll eventually believe it.

I completely understand your logic and reasoning. I also agree with that van gaal will use the three in the middle as 6/8/10 type midfielders. The problem is kroos is the perfect 6 in his midfield. The current kroos plays that role very well, he dominated city and played against us in the very same role for guardiola who uses a variation of the van gaal system(remember i said system and not formation). I am very surprised to know that he does not want kroos, but would rather have bastian. Also the 10 role will go to mata/rooney/kagwa/januzaj.

The main problem will be the 8 role, the box to box one, which for me is van gaal's most important player. Van gaal has to complete revamp his team if he doesnt have this player, you can see it with storotman injury and sudden change to a 5-3-2 ..We do not have that player, we havent played with such player, hell if we had hargreaves he would have been that player. There is a rarity of these players that is why you see pep guardiola using a second "6" or more of a interceptor in this role. Hence his use of lahm in the current bayern and of busquests in his barcelona team. Strootman wont sign before january, before that our season might already be over if we go with the current team. One solution i think van gaal might use is rooney, I think he will improve tremendously under van gaal, he is a very good player some bad first touches aside, he is a quality passer and has the workrate. I wont be surprised if somehow van gaal re invents rooney as a player and pushes him deeper in midfield. Maybe ask him to play the 8 role, with carrick behined him and mata/kagwa/januzaj infront of him. At 28 rooney is in best physical shape to do it and also it will be a phase of rooney's career where he will know he will have to change his game. If gerrard can play the deepest role, i think even rooney can.

I also think van gaal will want one may be two wingers, as he wont like young or valencia and may be even hate nani for his stupidiy in decision making. van gaal's TIPS system will ask for intelligence and nani even to a comman fans eye lacks that. Its going to be one hell of a task for us to get back into that top 4, its a very unbalanced team we have, too many 10's and strikers, very shit wingers, no midfield and an inexperienced defense. Its going to be a tough season unless woodward can pull some magic out of his ass, although i wont hold my breathe for that.

Rooney is a #10 but could probably adapt. Mata has played at the tip of the midfield plenty of times, it's similar but it's a lot more involved in keeping possession and creating from deeper. That's also probably kagawas best position, at the tip of the midfield. Sometimes he can get too isolated if he's a pure #10 but as the creative midfielder he'd be on the ball a lot. Anyways, the point is that van gaal won't waste 3 excellent players because they've been #10's before because they can easily adapt to the attacking midfielder spot, so it's pointless to buy someone else for more then 30m just because he's a top player. Basically it's a similar situation with fabregas as it was with mata, only now van gaal won't go for him because we already have top players who play there. Moyes bought mata who is a world class player, but if we're being honest, wasn't all that necessary considering our options in his position.

I wonder what this means?

I can only assume (and it is a guess) that it relates to Fabregas. Whether it is true or not I obviously don't know, but I've read in more than one place in the last year that he/his agent totally messed us about last summer. It still doesn't excuse the fact that we shouldn't have left ourselves in the position where we were panic buying Fellaini, but I doubt it has been forgotten either.

Its a show on MUTV called United In Press which has a presenter and a few journalists each week to discuss the United linked media reports from that week. Obviously at this time of the year it's almost solely transfer related but it's not something they've contrived because of our current predicament.

I know mate, I was joking! I believe them, I think the Shaw deal is pretty much done.

Fecks sake. We're gonna have a tournament with no great players apart from Aguero and Messi.

Lets hope it was Mkhitaryan who caused the injury, wanting Reus to leave Dortmund with immediate effect.

On a serious note, I hope he makes it to the world cup, was really forward to watching him

Could somebody please sum up the Malachians, or whatever his name is, tweets for me please. The bloke goes on a bit.
