It was a good signing, but I wouldn't say Jones was a class player, which is what I believe he/she was referring to when he/she said class signing.

Err "class" was a fairly subjective word I must admit. Seemed that way to me because I thought he would turn out to be a Rio calibre player pretty soon. Still, there's plenty of time, he just 22. :)

We were in for all of them! Do you have short term memory loss? Dont you remember these "almost" signings? My point was the club of our status has always managed to stuff up big signings one way or other.
You're a fecking moron if you believe every piece of transfer gossip. You seem to be yet another spoilt brat who thinks United as a club are unworthy of your "support". Well there are clubs with endless oil money who might give you what you need.

Lull in reporting anything or any decent tweets could be that everyone has either gone to, or is taking a break before departing for, Brazil

I had a chat with Jan Aage today and told him to give us some good news, or else his personal trainer would make his next few months a living hell.. Looks like he finally caved in :D

To be fair, his comments could be aimed at most Sports teams in general, he doesn't just let us down.

Can I ask, someone that is a bit of an ITK perhaps, "working on a story", What the hell does that entail? Does he mean he's found some good rumours but needs to find something to fit his agenda perhaps?

Jones was a class signing at the time mate. Now with the benefit of hindsight we can change the opinion. Infact even though I'm a big fan of Jones I would concede that it hasn't worked the way we wanted just yet. But at that time he was seen as the next great English defender in the vein Ferdinand or Terry. We had to fend off intense competition from the likes of Arsenal who had even lodged a bid, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham for his signature. In a sense he was the "Luke Shaw 2014" kind of signing in 2011.

Even Harry Redknapp confirmed Tottenham among other clubs were in for him :

It's not really been allowed to work, Rio and Vidic were still there. If they were injured, you could guarantee Rafael or some midfielder was injured, so he got shunted here and there. Last season has wrecked both his and Smalling confidence, I just hope LvG can get the best out of both of them.

Kroos to Real? Doesnt make much sense but its Real, so sense goes out of the window. Must admit I thought Barca would target Kroos.

If it mean they're not in for Vidal then I'm all for it

Doubt the 2 would be related. Kroos would be competing for Modric's place, Vidal the other one. This is why it makes so little sense, Modric has been sensational for them.

It usually means that he's heard a rumour from a source, and that he has to check if any other of his sources can back it up.

Okay, at least that makes sense, if we're acting on the proviso he has "contacts" or "sources", then I'd assume checking with them before exposing their secret is pretty standard...

The de Brun tweet doesn't seem legit. No quality Dutch youngster apart from Strootman who's crocked...

Might be harsh but if LVG insists on bringing them then we need a Director of Football to veto his list and draw up a new one.

Seems he's been talking to Daniel Taylor this morning on his show

Depay, Strootman and Indi would be acceptable, only ones I'd take personally.

Oh god, we're back to no value in the market again..
Sorry chief, but what's wrong with that if we do. I will take any up coming top young talent over the likes off kross etc. screw all these shiny big players with big egos.

Ballack came to England at 30 and had some very serviceable years at the top level. I wouldn't worry about Scweinsteiger's age if he can maintain his fitness to play every week.

He hosts a radio show on satellite radio. Seems to usually be clued in most of the time, even if he is a bit of a 'look at me' drama queen. Has a regular mix of journalists, ex-players and coaches on the show from what I've seen so I imagine he does get a fair bit of gossip from people within the game. Today I think he had Daniel Taylor on, which is where I'm sure all this was coming from.

But he, like any of the so-called ITKs, doesn't work for the club so you can never rely on him 100%.
