it looks like lvg
Ballack came to England at 30 and had some very serviceable years at the top level. I wouldn't worry about Scweinsteiger's age if he can maintain his fitness to play every week.
what about his injury record?

So Bayern are going to let Muller, Kroos and Schweinsteiger go in the same summer? Ok.
I don't think Müller will be allowed to leave, but at least one of Bastian and/or Kroos will leave.

I think fjortoft is semi-reliable.He doesn't spout 100 rumours a week like some people and he usually only talks about players in Germany where he claims to have sources. He also usually goes by the policy that no player will ever join Manchester United, so this could be promising.

I actually think it's the likes of chelsea, liverpool and city that brief the journalists over who we're signing.

I would have no problem with signing Bastian, it wouldn't be a long term solution but I'll take a short term fix right now if it helps us get back to where we belong.

I would have no problem with signing Sebastian, it wouldn't be a long term solution but I'll take a short term fix right now if it helps us get back to where we belong.
It's just Bastian. ;)

Feck sake, I went with the first name because I knew I would spell his Second name wrong and then I go and do that.
I actually also thought it was Sebastian for a while myself, but I then saw a Bayern fan on here giving another forumer a bit of a lecture about his name...

What selfish parents he has that they couldn't add the extra 2 letters just to make me look a twat.

If we're going young, why not Tielemen along with clasie or maybe Oliver Torres:

he's already in Anderlecht's 1st at the age of 17. I heard we have been scouting him. Would love to at least tie him up even if we loan him out.

Big talent, my cousins are both Anderlecht supporters and say he has been very impressive.

Exactly - he can help us while LVG is in charge and the younger additions can help us beyond. Sounds like a plan to me.

:( Noooo.. Have to say I've been rather calm during the market. But this de Brun is extremely disturbing if it's based on the intel of Daniel Taylor. We shouldn't touch any of the Dutch players (apart from Strootman) with a bargepole. This is probably the worst Dutch generation in a long time. Some of them like Clasie or Janmaat are good but Newcastle-Swansea level of good, not for a team that intends on fighting for championships in the near future. Blind would be a decent signing but no more than a rotational squad player or marginal starter, not first choice at LB or CM. Even the highest rated one, Depay would be a punt because he's raw and his decision making is a bit off.

I've no problem if we miss out on big name players like Cesc or Rakitic. But as a fall back we should scour U level teams and overload on the best 18-20 year old players in Europe - who could be the foundation of our team in 3-4 seasons. Not a group of above-average Dutch players that will never reach the European elite and will hold us back in the long run. I'd much rather we spend zero money this summer and maintain the status quo than waste it on subpar talent. That way we could splurge next season with the added attraction of CL football if that's what the elite players are looking for.

While I can appreciate the fact that most managers like to bring a couple of players they're familiar with, the club should seriously question Louis' market expertise if he plans a Dutch overhaul of the side. Bring in a couple for 10 million apiece as utility/ backup players and that's fine. But if he wants more than that then we need to consider employing a sporting director like Barcelona/ Bayern did with him to evaluate the targets and scrap Van Gaal's list.

Wouldn't mind Schweinsteiger, and out of all the Bayern players we have been linked with, he actually might be the most gettable one (doesn't mean that it is likely to happen, but not impossible). He is almost 30 and has finally won everything with Bayern. So he could be willing to go abroad and LvG might be a bonus. On the other hand of course he might want to end his career in Munich and his gf is a model and whatever, so she might not be willing to move, so no idea!

He's 29, seems like similar type of signing to RVP.

Anyway I think we could do with his experience in the midfield tbh

He'll be 30 by the time the season starts though.

Only if he actually plays regularly, I just don't think we are at a point where should be risking big money on players who may have limited contributions, our midfield is too weak for that.

He won't cost big money, the sum banded around was £10m wasn't it?

Next big thing to come out of Belgium. Has the talent ceiling akin to that of Januzaj/Hazard.

And so the cycle of muppetry begins :D

We're currently at the denial & refusal stage.

The de Brun tweet doesn't seem legit. No quality Dutch youngster apart from Strootman who's crocked...

Might be harsh but if LVG insists on bringing them then we need a Director of Football to veto his list and draw up a new one.

What do you mean theres no quality dutch youngster? and Strootman is hardly a youngster anymore is he?

Complaining about a world class 30 year old footballer. Some of our fans will never be happy.

I thought it was 30 million Euros, can't believe for a second that they'd sell him for £10M and if they did I'd be seriously worried about how far he has gone back.

Van Gaal seems to like De Vrij. Gave him his Holland debut and seems intent in having him in his team for the World Cup. Could see us going for him and Depay

I mean seriously there's absolutely zero young Dutch player that I'd want United to sign. Now I'm no expert but I've seen a lot of Eredivisie football in the past couple of years. And none of them players have been impressive on a semi-consistent basis even if we factor in the lower quality of their league. I'd put Depay/ Wijnaldum at the head of the queue purely on the basis of potential but IMO they won't be a great improvement on what we currently have. Some of the others - Clasie, Blind, De Vrij/ BMI seem okay in isolated cases but if one watches them over an extended league season, I'd daresay Clasie will not be a great improvement on Cleverley. Blind would be okay but as a rotational/ squad player. And De Vrij/ BMI will be Vlaar/ Heitinga level players 3-4 seasons down the line. I mean if we look at their national team midfielders they have Leroy Fer who plays for Norwich and De Guzman who plays for Swansea. That's really indicative of their current dearth in quality TBF.

Again I won't be disingenuous and claim to be a great evaluator of talent but their current young generation really doesn't strike me as United calibre players. I'm sure someone more familiar with Dutch football like @Henrik Larsson or @Kevin will be able to shed some light on this matter.

If we signed schweiney I'd weep in a corner until I was so dehydrated that I fainted.

Pep let a lot of players go in his first season at Barcelona.....He's not one to shy away from it.

Also, look at us in 1995....We let our player of the year go, Ince and Hughes.

It's not uncommon.....I don't believe it'll happen though
