I don't want Fabregas for multiple reasons.

And i just want to say that i am confident that we will bring in players we need. I always belived that our team does not need more then 3-4 players and we will get that. Woodward and Glazers will do anything to do their business because we can't afford one more season like last one.

If we don't bring at least two players in a week after van Gaal start the job as United manager i will be very surprised.

If we just got CM sorted and a Hummels-like CB, I don't think we'd be far off. This is hardly a second-rate XI:

DDG / Rafael, Hummels, Jones, Shaw / Strootman, Schweiny, Mata / Januzaj, RVP, Rooney

So who exactly are Van Gaal's targets again? An injured Strootman, a nigh unattainable Hummels, Vidal that doesn't seem likely to happen, who else?

Half of Bayern Munich and all of the Dutch national team.

I am worried but I optimistically feel all of these rumors are just 2+2=5.

I am certain that if the press didn't come out with a story a few weeks ago saying LvG wasn't interested in Cesc (because of a so called list.) Then stories from Piques quotes would have been "Cesc to United done deal"

  • The 33mil would make the journos assume Arsenal aren't the ones paying as it's not the same figure as their clause.
  • There were reports in the past few days regarding City and them not being interested
  • Of course, our "list" which doesn't have Cesc on "means we aren't interested"

It is so simple to say the deal has been agreed with Chelsea. It makes sense but that doesn't mean it's official.

I'm surprised PSG aren't all over Cesc right now? I find the lack of interest in his signing weird.. The media tried linking him to Liverpool, us and Arsenal.. nothing stuck, and even the Chelsea move hasnt garned as much hype and attention as I'd have imagined it would..

We will know soon after the WC i am confident of that. And i'm confident that al this list's which were thrown around are false. They are just guessing noone knows absolutely nothing.

Let's just enjoy the WC you muppets :)

Yeah I was thinking the same, can't understand for the life of me why PSG wouldn't be in for him. Hell, I can't understand why we aren't but apparently that's the case. I don't think he will flop at Chelsea, there's no heavy price tag burden like Torres if they're getting him for that amount which let's face it, isn't bad for a proven in the prem, quality player.

Andy Mitten seems to think we maybe close to signing Hummels

Not quite what he said. Mitten said Hummels is the one United feel closest to signing. That doesn't mean United think he's close, just closer than the others. At any rate, United thinking they are close to signing someone, and United actually being close to signing someone, are obviously not the same thing (see last summer).

Hummels would be an immense signing. A true replacement for Ferdinand.

Half of Bayern Munich and all of the Dutch national team.
So half unattainable and half unimpressive then.

Hummels, Schweinsteiger, Strootman and Konoplyanka
Schweinsteiger would be nice, he's been plagued with injuries, but at this point anything would be an upgrade even if he only gets 30 games a season.

I hope so, but then if some of his lofty targets are true like is being reported, negotiations will most likely be long and hard, especially when the team is needing about 4 players minimum.

I dont think the players will be hard to get. We will not buy superstars maybe one but not four.

If i had to make a list i think we will get Shaw, maybe Schweinsteiger as a superstar signing, one winger like Konoplyanka, talented but not superstar and one surprise unknown or unlinked with us midfielder "under the radar".

We will not buy Strootman at least until january.

We went into last summers window as the reigning champions who finished 11 pts clear, this window is different due to our circumstances and the LVG factor.

Fifa king ^

Worth 2-3mil no?

He's the youngest player ever to score a hat trick in the Eredivisie and he's been highly rated for years. Surely he's worth a punt. I bet Chelsea buys him and he spends next year on loan, still in the Netherlands.

We wanted Bakkali when we signed Pereira if I remember right. We've also bid for him before according to him.

"I'm happy here and I want to find room to improve and grow. There were several clubs very interested in me and two companies submitted an official offer. One was Manchester United, but I decided to refuse. I still do not want to leave PSV."

Bit skeptical about that Pique recording. Think it was set-up by Fabregas. Pique and Fabregas grew up together, they're very close, don't think it's something Pique would openly say about Fabregas. Something fishy going on.

Quote a high proportion of footballers are cnuts. It turns out it doesn't make a blind bit of fecking difference, unless they turn football into an X Factor style contest, in which case we can all just top ourselves and be done with it.
We are talking about the guy who threw pizza at Fergie, right? The same guy that dived to get Fletcher sent off prior the Rome final? That cnut you want to sign?

There are tons of cnuts in football, of course, but there are a few that have something personal against United. And i don't want to see those pricks anywhere near United.

Besides, the little prick can't even play well at CM. Don't know why you keep this thing of getting expensive players that aren't even what we need. Why do you think Barca wants to get rid of him anyway?

Exactly.

Yeah I don't trust it either yet. It's an odd thing to do at a press conference table with microphones.

Those years at Arsenal must be a figment of my imagination.
He's developed into a number 10, even plays as a false nine at times, which is absolutely the last position we need to strengthen. He's not the same player now. Barcelona have tried to play him as a CM since he joined and it hasn't worked. If we are going to spend over 30m on a midfielder it'll be one that suits a deep midfield role.

What an absolute car crash you've had here.

Remember when Scholes went to play off the striker for a few seasons and then came back to CM and was absolutely terrible..

He has something personal against United because he dived against us and threw pizza at our manager(who isnt even at the club anymore) when he was 17? Do you even think before typing?

And ofcourse he can play CM, whether he is the CM we need is another matter but to say he isnt even a CM is absolute bollocks. He doesnt fit in at Barca because of how they play and the quality he's up against, not because he isnt a CM. Is Mascherano also not a CM? Song? What nonsense.

I think Chelsea will play him as their 10. Is struggle to see how both Oscar and Fabregas could play in the same side unless against weak opposition. Most Chelsea fans seem to think Ramires is a donkey so I wouldn't be surprised to see them go after another midfielder too.

He isn't a number 10 ffs. Barcelona don't even play with anyone in a true number 10 position.

Mourinho has played oscar in a deeper CM position this season so I don't see the issue. Matic could sit just behind Oscar and Cesc in a midfield three.

I'm not even convinced he's going to Chelsea now. That Piqué press conference seems like he just wanted to stir something up a bit.

Our lack of decisiveness is embarrassing. Woodward could learn a thing or two by looking at the chelsea boys who get deals done.

I really hate comments like this. You compare two completely different scenarios and then judge by the same parameter? Costa was leaving already, Chelsea probably didn't need or want to haggle the price down. We are potentially talking about players who aren't necessarily openly available, it's very different to how you make it sound.

Xavi is irreplaceable but they will get Koke which is arguably an upgrade over Fabregas and if it's not an upgrade now, it will be soon (age on his side).
They will probably be in the situation we are and have been for a while, trying to find the new Scholes.
