The only way I'd support us signing Suarez would be if we immediately loaned him out on a weekly basis to whichever team Liverpool were playing in what would be the single biggest trolling effort in history.
Or just sign him on a 5+ year contract and put him on the bench for the entirety of his contract

We have to think in terms of building a squad for Europe the season after next, essentially we have three clear transfer windows to do it in; summer 2014, January 2015, summer 2015. Of course we will be building for the immediate future but there's also that long-term aim of getting to this time (roughly) next year and assembling a side that's going to have a decent crack at the Champions League as well as domestic competition.

Same way we were confident in signing Fabregas last summer?

I'd be very happy with Strootman, Fabregas, Muller and Shaw come August ;) Chelsea getting Luis is a great signing, and Liverpool are really strengthening, both teams will be forces to be reckoned with next year! Well, so long as they keep Hazard and Suarez

Psg will take him, if not, one of the english clubs will eventually take him. Everyone will not get their top target and fabregas will may as well be second choice for us (or maybe anyone else). I think even tottenham have a chance to get him. That would probably be a big feck you on the faces of arsenal fans.

I was responding to the suggestion in the quoted post that "Chelsea wouldnt be his priority". My point was they they may be the best option in terms of future success and a decent pay packet.

How do you know?

I'll answer: you don't.

Well, of course I don't, I should've said 'IMO'. But everything points toward Hummels not being available.. he wants to stay at Dortmund, they are challenging for trophies and are in the Champions League, BVB have already lost Lewandowski this summer and intent to have a go at Bayern next season without their injury crisis they had to endure this year.

Why don't people realise that Woodward just negotiates for players and doesn't go around bidding on whoever he fancies?

'Right, who do I fancy today? I'm thinking German.'

So what was your point, exactly?

This should be good...

It was a bloody ironic joke at the lack of our european football next season, didn't realise we weren't allowed to do that on the caf no more, jeez take the cucumber out of your arse you're too stiff mate.

I'm on Colin's side. GM is being far too defensive. Case dismissed.

Yeah seems that way to me too. Although he has used players similar to Cesc in the past so the possibility can't be ruled out. A very good comparison would be to Deco at Porto. Plus it seems like Jose wants to transition into a 3 in midfield like they previously had in Makelele, Essien, Lampard. In that sort of setup Fabregas would be a very good replacement for Lampard.

Did he bring Deco in or was he already there? He might be fine with using those sorts of players but maybe he's just prefers more of a solid midfield

Ha that's a good catch. Jose didn't bring Deco in, was there before he took charge. :)
