 If they're his first choice options, I'd hate to see his back up options.
Really? Schweinsteiger and Hummels are 2 of the best in their positions in world football.. A pipe dream for a club in our position to be honest.

So if that "Telegraaf" list is to be believed, we are in for Strootman, Konopylanka, Hummels, Schweinsteiger.. Not too overwhelming to be honest
 Probably no interest in Shaw either I take it.

Really? I think them plus Shaw would be an unbelievable summer if it actually happened.

Forgot about that... Poor Cesc, nobody wants him

 Maybe he just isn't as good as he was. I'm also increasing convinced that list in the Dutch Telegraph was more accurate for us.

@Dominos

I agree that judging off of one poorer season isn't really smart but I'd be worried about his injuries. He's always suffered from a few niggles but they've increased and the last thing we need is another player who sees the physio more than the pitch.

I guess with Europe not being a concern if we have to wait until January for Strootman it won't really matter that much.

Schweinsteiger is past his best. Him and Strootman in midfield probably still wouldn't be a match for the other top teams in our league.
Talk about an overreaction, he's not even 30! Goes from best midfielder in the world to past his best and wouldn't be a match for other top teams in the space of a year... Right

Aren't City close to signing Fernando from Porto?

You're more than welcome.

What have they said so far that is proven correct?
They reported in March that the Glazer and Woodward had held a secret meeting with Van Gaal in Portugal.

They also reported Kluivert would not be joining as a coach when there was speculation here that he maybe coming in.

They were also the first to report that Van Gaal was going to be the next Man Utd manager.

I'm starting to get a feeling that either everyone is guessing, or Woodward is completely useless at completing transfers. Though this will be a big one for him, his last chance so to speak.

I believe so. Plus there's the injuries. These are probably the reasons that Pep doesn't want him anymore.

The rumours I saw reported during the season were that it was more down to Schweinsteiger's style of play not fitting into Pep's system. Basically Schweinsteiger doesn't move the ball on fast enough for that role in a Guardiola team.

Injuries problems would be a concern but beyond that I think he'd be a brilliant signing. 29 is no age to be considered past your best, plenty of midfielders don't even hit their peak until around then. For example, he's still two years younger than someone like Xabi Alonso, who would currently waltz into our team as our best midfielder.

What did you all do before twitter? I used to get all my information from vague headlines off the Teletext hotline pages.

"BATISTUTA IN SHOCK OLD TRAFFORD SWAP WITH COLE?!!!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!"

"LIVERPOOL IN £5 MILLION BID FOR DAVID MAY!!!!!!!!!!!"

I spent hours on Teletext.
I remember they always had an advert for teamtalk with news headlines, so I would quickly dial up, open all the windows, then turn off the internet because it was before 6pm and my mum didn't know
Also used to play bamboozled to

*******

No live update shows either, just constantly glued to the pages going from 1-3 with scores

The league would still be pretty important and it would be half finished.

Still don't know why LVG does not want Fabregas, proven in the prem and would be a steal at £30 mil.

Proven in the prem many seasons ago. Will he return to playing the way he did in his Arsenal days?

He would cost more than 30 mil. It is easy to see why Van Gaal would not want him, or need him. Van Gaal can get players that can play his system/know his system for much cheaper.

What are you expecting, Ronaldo and Messi? Under Ferguson, such a quartet would be nothing but a pipe dream, yet now one of the best midfielders in the game, one of the supposed best defenders in the game, a hugely promising midfielder and a tricky winger isn't enough for some people.

We need to spend money, and we need to offer the right kind of wages, but you can't force players to come to the club. What will be will be. The most important thing is that Van Gaal gets the best out of what he has. If he does that, plus adds a few good players, the improvement will be immeasurable.

Your having a laugh! A midfield of Schwiensteiger and Strootman would match up to most in the world. And past his best at 29 like Rooney at 28 the world has gone mad.

Couldn't agree more.

Schweinsteiger is only the most likely to leave out of an outstanding bunch at Bayern. I feel strongly as though the press have essentially put two and two together and come up with five.

Bayern have an abundance of midfielders but it's speculated that they still aren't functioning exactly as Pep would like. Martinez is Bayern's best holding midfielder by some distance and Thiago has probably been their most impressive going forward, when he's been fit. It seems that Pep favours Lahm in midfield too, so it's unlikely that he'll be dropped and then you have to consider Kroos as well.

On the other hand, Schweinsteiger is good defensively and good going forward, but he doesn't excel at either role. He's a bit of a misfit in the system. Schweinsteiger also happens to be the highest earner in the group of midfielders and he's had a couple of injury concerns in the past season. If Pep wants to bring in a new midfielder, then one of them has to go and it would probably be in Bayern's best interests if that player who leaves is Schweinsteiger. They could save themselves somewhere in the region of €10mil per year in wages and barely lose any quality whatsoever.

Schweinsteiger is still a world class player. I feel as if a combination of factors have all contributed towards the general perception of him changing for the worst lately. I'd be over the moon if we brought him in, no question. I would also be strongly in favour of us pursuing Strootman.

Never take any non-journo Tweet citing a paper as a source if it doesn't link the story

Can you imagine?

Blimey. Absolute zero chance of happening ever, but if it did, I'd have a hard time supporting him. He'd have to win me over with several hat tricks, and I'd want him to properly give it large to the opposing fans when we played Liverpool. Then maybe, I could learn to live with him as a United player. Maybe.

Saurez is the kind of scum that would gladly make the switch with his middle finger up to the dippers as he left.

Fortunately, that's highly likely to be an absolutely bogus tweet.

Is rather have Tom Cleverley as our only striker at the club than Suarez.

It's not bogus. It is in Sport es as he said.

Wow I hadn't realised how much Schweinsteiger was on. More than double Kroos' salary and seemingly fourth highest paid player behind Ribery, Robben and Gotze. I'm starting to think there could be something in this even though the general rumours around the link have been very weak, other than him being on this mysterious 'list'.

I'm not sure why people post Rafael Hernandez tweets - he's just a more professional looking and sounding IndyKalia. Plain to see.
