Why would Schweinsteiger move away from Bayern (still an integral part of the team) and why do people think he is too old to play a lot of games for us?
Because he has been nowhere near as integral this season as people assume.

The list Ogden reported last night is similar, minus Schweinsteiger and Konoplyanka. I would be very happy with those players.

Who exactly was on his list?

I can't access The Telegraph at the moment because I used up my quota of free articles.

Are there any indications at all that Schweinsteiger wants to leave and that Bayern are willing to sell?

Of course there aren't. It's a new media paradox.

1. Invent transfer to Man United story.
2. Report it persistently for a few days until other media outlets start reporting it.
3. When it reaches fever pitch and is on everyone's lips, said player comes out and says "I have no intention to move to Manchester United"
4. Time for the "United in another bitter transfer blow" and "United rejected by another player" headlines.
5. Rinse, Repeat.

Telegraph don't allow us to post articles on here anymore. Sent e-mails to Niall threatening legal action so PM saivet the article instead please.

Can we not link to the articles?

Can we have quick summaries with the necessary quotes beside them or would that still be something that would piss the Telegraph off?

To be fair to the Telegraph, they are hiring professional Journalists and paying them to do a job. It's a bit harsh if we just post it all up on here for free and deny them subscriptions and clicks regardless of how high or low a standard we think the journalism is.

Just click on the link to the article. View the article in incognito mode or whatever private mode your browser has if you've reached your limit. Papers don't like articles being posted on forums like these because it reduces the number of clicks to their website.

You can link, just not post any of the article at all.

Yep. Other papers have e-mailed saying thanks for all the hits etc and asked if there's anything they could do. Main problem with Telegraph is the subscription aspect. I assume they're not happy having the articles posted here for people without subscriptions to view.

Summarise in your own words is OK. No quotes though.

Not too fussed about Schweinsteiger because of his age (unless it's true about the 10 million) but otherwise that seems pretty sensible, and even slightly realistic in most cases.

Schweini's 29 and LvG has a 3-year contract, you could expect him to sign a few players who will do the job now than making sure every signing has great resale value like Fergie did. He could be excused for not looking too far into the future if the reports of the owners expecting a league win immediately are true.

I'd take Schweinsteiger for £10m as he could offer us four years. But I don't think he'd be leaving.

We could really use an experienced leader type midfielder like him.

Him and fit Strootman would be quite okayish upgrade.

True. They could just as easily text eachother.

Rooney was clearly out of credit, so used the free wifi in Nando's international chain......whatever country he currently is in.

Ya the #riskeverything is clearly a Nike doing.

Carrick-Fellaini to Strootman-Schweinsteiger. Okayish upgrade.

EDIT: I know you're probably being sarcastic but it made me laugh out loud.

We can interpret things how we want but reality may be even more whacky and in the end bring some of the most mind bending results of Van Gaal's football brain which operates on his very own ideas, he created himself during his adventures in Europe that were as intense as Fergie's.

Is it possible that the list he gave to Woodward was so out of the common concept that the chairman had to change almost every priority to keep up with Louie's vision ? Possible... almost probable and we're gonna find out soon without garbage media talk trying hard to grasp his way of thinking.

Sure, he could. That doesn't mean that's what I prefer, though. (And Schweinsteiger will be 30 when the season starts, by the way).

How would that even be possible ?

surely transfer window needs to be open for that to go ahead right ?

Deal is still official, he just cant register as a player until the transfer window is open. Costa would be effectively "on loan" at Madrid until 1st July.
