Why are people happy to see Hernandez leave? :wenger:
I love him but I don't like seeing him misused and hardly feature as he has. He's such a professional that you'll never see him complain apart from the most drastic of scenarios, and although we'd all love for him to stay here as a backup striker forever, he needs to move on for his own good and start at a top club. We have Welbeck and Wilson who can be back up strikers and having all of them here is just too many for 1 position, especially as we won't rotate much with no european football.

There were also some rumours that Atleti were in talks for Rakitic.

Rakitic was linked with Real Madrid too. He's deservedly in the LFP team of the season.

Swap Hernandez and Fellaini for Fletcher and Buttner, that will be grand.

I don't see the rush to get rid of Fellaini. He's not a bad option to have provided we use him as he was used in his last season at Everton.

van Gaal isn't David Moyes, so the chances of him being used in the way he was for Everton are extremely remote. The best move for all concerned is if he moves him on as soon as possible.

I'd be quite happy to see all those players go, and a few others as well. If we're going to have a big turn over in the squad, van Gaal may as well get it done as quickly as possible.

Crude figures but:

Ando - £5m
Nani - £10m
Young - £5m
Fellaini- £15m
Zaha - £10m
Cleverley - £10m
Chicha - £20m

So £75m in. Add that to our £100m, should give LvG a chance to make a splash.

I'd be tempted to keep Chicha, esp if Welbeck leaves. Maybe Cleverley as a squad player.

Yep I agree Fellaini should get a chance to show what he could bring to a team that is not struggling. Been very harshly criticised this season it's been way ott in my opinion.

You'd be lucky to get anything more than 5 mil for Cleverley. Young might fetch around 10. Ando will likely leave when his contract runs out, his only real option is Brazil.

I doubt we would get rid of so many, especially after Vidic and Ferdinand are gone. Anderson, Young, and Fellaini at the most. Nani must stay, he will be a different player under Van Gaal.

I'd agree with that as well. Never have we lost so many players at once. Lot have title winning experience. There is a case for a few of them though.

I'm reading that Juventus have lined up Sanchez for £15-20m. How the hell are we not in for him and blow them out of the water wage wise? Barcelona are insane to let him go for that kind of fee!

Maybe he wants to go back to Italy where he was so successful again.

Although Juve are pretty awesome in transfer market. Get bargains every single time.

I hoped we'd be in for Alexis. Let Juve have Nani...

RUmour is re Sanchez that they're not in for him any more as Barca want 25 mill and Juve aren't willing to go over 20.

Agree on both points. I will be livid if this deal goes through without us actually doing anything, it's a bit like Vidal three years ago, the quality is painfully obvious (though Sanchez has proven himself on an even higher level at Barcelona than Vidal) and Juve are getting yet another bargain here. Infuriating.

Totally agreed.

Sanchez would be absolutely perfect here, the exact number 7 that we need. Personally I would prefer him to Reus, he is more obtainable and I get the impression we waste / have wasted so much time pursuing players that are so difficult to sign.

Nani hasn't exactly produced much the past two seasons has he? Zaha might not develop into a player which surpasses the level Nani was at his peak, but he has had one season at a club in turmoil, does possess talent - despite being very raw - and has youth on his side. Opposed to Nani whos injury problems have derailed his United career and has been far too inconsistent for the part of his United tenure. Like Anderson, we have held on to Nani for too long and it's in the best interests of both parties if we simply sever ties.

I wouldn't lump Nani in with Anderson. Nani has 72 caps for Portugal. He's shown he can play at the highest level. If he can get over his injury problems he can be an excellent player for us again. He just needs a manager that will actually give games imo.

Zaha is just extremely raw. He's a long way from being a United player as it currently stands.

Bringing together Vidal and Sanchez for club and country would be absolutely fantastic. If he's genuinely available, and for as little as 25m, I'd imagine he will get plenty of offers.

It would be insane if we're not in for him for that price. He's perfect for us.

Better than clasie. would be an alternative to strootman in the box to box role. Could even play the holding role well. I like him but he is a nutter and a bit stupid. He let his car run over his foot and has been involved in some incidents. Too many nutters may spoil our broth.

Yaya is the biggest whore in football. "Honour" to play for PSG apparently. I can guarantee he'd be saying the same about Timbuktu FC if they were taken over by a Sheikh.

He's certainly been a far more successful signing than Anderson, but then again the latter has been truly diabolical. I still think injuries have effected Nani and that was ever so apparent on his return to the team late last season. Now would be an ideal time to cash in, he hasn't produced in the last two seasons and his market value would still be quite high given his reputation and ability. He has the technique and flair to thrive in less intense leagues with more time on the ball, so I'd expect potential suitors from Italy and France, so now would be the ideal time, if any, to recoup the large bulk of the fee we spent of him.

I just think you get to the stage with certain players, where they pass 'the point of no return'. Anderson is certainly in that category and it bewilders me that some still advocate him staying on at the club, it's imperative he leaves. I personally think the same applies to Nani that it would be in the best interests of both sides to part company, but given his ability and van Gaal's coaching philosophy I can understand why some suggest we keep him.

Anyway, we've needed this mass exodus of players for a long-time, so I hope there's substance to Ogdens reports. A fresh start is needed and I wouldn't be adverse to seeing all those players apart of the cull, along with the likes of Bebe, Amos and a few loans; players on the fringes. You also have to factor in Rio, Vidic and Giggs, so it's easily in excess of ten players. This cull has been overdue.

The thing I can't quite understand, and surely Toure knows this, City aren't going to sell him. No chance. So either this is all either a pitch for a new deal/better conditions (ridiculous) or he genuinely doesn't get it.

Judging by his bitch-mentality with the whole birthday thing, maybe he's genuinely upset about Messi's new Barcelona deal and really wants an improved contract. Wouldn't surprise me one bit despite being beyond ridiculous.
