No I was very much aware yesterday, as I am today that in this transfer the major stumbling was always going to be Munich themselves.

My take on this is that it has become apparent Munich ain't budging so Uld have quite rightly moved on.

Which wa always the most likely outcome.

Fair enough. Nobody said dealing with Bayern was gonna be easy - we all knew that from the Hargreaves saga!

Did you not think that Bayern might sell though, considering they're gettin Lewandowski on a free this summer? Surely they can see that as a gift & that they wouldnt want to get feck all for Kroos - like Dortmund have found, or as in their case of Ballack to Chelsea for free also?!

I agree that United cant feck around with lost causes this summer, but i hope we left it at - "if you want to sell - let us know.." or "if Bayern say they want to sell you let us know.."

He's too good a player for us to let the chance pass by. Only 24 & already one of the best CM's in the world - the most important area of the pitch in many respects & the one area we've been demanding to be sorted.

We need more than one CM anyway, so we should be stocking up with 3 atleast. Ideally i'd love 4 CM's: 2 box-box CM's, a Defensive CM & a creative CM. We can integrate CM youth players like Pearson & Pereira, Lawrence on the wing & Wilson up front also, but if we dont have a solid central mid-field to support them, it becomes a risk (losing games) & thats what happened to Pogba with Fergie when he didnt trust him.

It wrecks my head to think how much more we could have won if we'd bought our 1st choice targets / wishlist & not been so high-horsed about wages or chuckin a few quid to an agent ala Hazard - which i agreed with at the time. Now i couldnt give a shite.

United have been bringing in record sums of revenue & havent spent a fraction of it on the 1st team. At the end of this financial year we're projected to bring in £420m - as Ed says, so we should get splashing on ready to go players that will also improve.

My fear is LvG's gonna be the same as Fergie. Where we coulda/shoulda have won more, but we didnt have the personnel because he wouldnt pay what it takes when the money is there to spend on marquee signings & we need a shitload of them at the moment - even Scholesy agrees with that & he knows more about it than we do & LvG for that matter!

If we don't sign at least two midfielers we might as well just accept next season as another write off.

Atleast 2 world-class CM's more to the point Sam!

I've made this point time & time again, but who knows more about what we need other than United? Certainly not LvG when he hasnt seen what he has at his disposal for starters?!

I was against LvG becoming our manager because of the WC & his commitments to the national team, but i got my head around that thinkin he'd be like a kid in a sweet shop with the budget we're spunkin at him.

Now i'm hearing he's goin Dutch with players i'd never even heard off (apart from Strootman), but also the likes of Robben & Sneijder too - that doesnt instill me with confidence whatsoever, far feckin from it!

This thread has been very depressing today. Well at least we can focus our muppetry elsewhere now, goodbye Toni!

50 fecking million for him!?

Di Marzio also saying a deal's on and that Marquinhos could leave PSG, with Barca his likely destination.

Just imagine if van Gaal managed to turn Cleverley and Fellaini into the most effective midfield duo in the premier league; the reaction on here would be catastrophic

Did Fellaini and Cleverley start a game together in midfield this season? Reckon they'd made a decent partnership. Nice mix there.

feck this summer. It's dead to me.

Thank feck for the World Cup. At least I can count on England to play some scintillating football on a run into the latter stages of the tournament, to cheer me up.

No they didn't, not really sure I want too either...

It's not even summer yet, and you're giving in? whoops

50million.. both Barca and PSG seem to desperately want him.. obviously something they're seeing that the rest of the world aren't...

Bayern too, they were offering cash + Manduzkic apparently but Chelsea turned down as they've basically signed Costa. Mental how they're gonna get more for Luiz than what they'll pay for Diego Costa.

They started against Fulham didn't they? And were pretty mediocre. Although Fellaini was carrying his injury at that point I think.

Why doesn't any halfway decent CM want to play for us???
They do, we're just seemingly abysmal at identifying them and also extremely picky. We've neglected it for about six years in the hopeless search of value for money - which must be based on the criteria that we're getting the next Scholes or Keane. Now we've tried taking top midfielders off two of the best clubs in the world with probably the two best midfields in the world, which funny enough - were assembled by doing the opposite of what we've attempted to do. I'm surprised people actually had much hope that either transfer would come off in the first place.

This has all led to a massive overreaction that Kroos isn't going to join us. We have a new manager who has his own ideas and I'm sure he'll address are most glaring problem. There's plenty of good midfielders who'd love to join us. Take comfort in the fact that almost every top midfielder in the world today has not been bought from the other top clubs for a massive transfer fee. I'm confident van Gaal can find players that are good enough to play for us from elsewhere.

I do hope he makes a couple of young signings but it's just frustrating to see us unable or unwilling again to get what we were after. Hopefully there is truth to LVG simply not wanting Kroos because otherwise it looks like another mis-step by Woodward & Co

Are people really losing their shit in May?

They're probably just getting it out of the way so the rest of the summer isn't full of moaning knobheads.

Or not :(

It'll be an awful summer on the Caf. Nobody seems to have an ounce of patience on here

The likes of Sarni and Kid Cunto will take over the transfer forum. Dark days indeed.

Unfortunately as usual I wont be able to resist refreshing threads all the time and getting annoyed

I am glad I am not a muppet.

Our big signing was Louis Van Gaal. The manager was our first priority and we fixed it. Just a few months ago we thought we were going to be stuck with Moyes for a while and that the destruction would continue. We should feel fortunate to be in the position we are now. I am actually looking forward to seeing what van Gaal will do with these group of players.

We'll sign a couple of good young players, NO STARS(unless you consider Shaw a star).

Let's focus on the world cup.

That was mentioned many times last summer - right up until the last day of the window, so in all honesty man - most fans have run out of patience when it comes to us signing world-class CM's & we're sick of hearing how much cash we're bringing in every year & feck all spent in CM. Also, the Pogba situation is still a very sore point.

Its complete frustration at the clubs handling of key areas of the 1st team. No like for like replacements for Rio & Vida. No CM apart from Carrick - who's been overused, same as Evra, who looks like he's goin too. Us fans have every right to be annoyed about whats been goin on for years man. Its not a knee-jerker.

Passing up on Kroos is beyond belief if true. Its sickening. No one gives a shit how much wages he wants. Rooney's on £300k per wk ffs. He's no-where near a player of Messi or Ronaldo's calibre to be earning that dough, so LvG's opinion that he only wants players that want to play for the club - not for money, is braindead & Fergie-esque mentality - which is redundant in modern football.

The club said we're gonna try to get alot of our business sorted before the WC. The WC starts in 20 days & we supposedly had a number of top targets already sorted - just needing the new manager to sign off on. Now we hear he has his own list & its no where near as quality as the one United had (seems to be him goin Dutch again) - if thats not reason to be downbeat i dont know what is. We have previous of wastin opportunities to sign quality & much needed top-class players & not just last summer either!

As regards to Kroos. Scholesy was just waxing lyrical yesterday about how wicked a signing that would be - mutual respect i gathered from that. Now we hear LvG said no to that deal!

Of course we should trust the new manager, but if he passed up on Kroos - then he better have an ace up his sleeve, aswell as all the other players he seems to be passing up on.

Lets not forget that Moyes passed up on Thiago, Strootman & Garay last summer after we'd done all the groundwork, we just needed him to sign off on them. Look how our season panned out.

We cant make the same mistakes this summer & what time is LvG gonna have to construct a Prem winning team like he said he wants next season either?

From what i've heard - LvG gives a list of players in each position to the board with no back-up options. If United cant get them its back to the drawing board, which holds everything up even longer.

How many players get signed during the WC & will the Dutch allow LvG to double-job - i feckin doubt?! I'd be rippin if i was Dutch & he was allowed to double-job thats for sure!

LvG officially takes over in mid-July when his Dutch contract ends. We then go on tour to the States on 23rd July. Not a great situation for United to be in & thats why this pre-WC period was crucial for us to get many deals sorted - especially world-class deals like Kroos..

Patience, in any other circumstance apart from WC year & a new manager coming in mid-July, is what you would see from every United fan, but this summer is critical for us get world-class players in & our new manager (at 62 years old lets not forget) - how can he do 2 jobs at the same time, when the Dutch FA have said he has to do his Dutch job 1st & foremost!

I'm Irish - we're not there. All Irish United fans care about is United at this time..

Oh & you are a muppet - but for different reasons. I dont need to pull up your "Manchester United are the Biggest Club in the world.." posts do i?

I don't see why last summers window has any relevance to this considering we've a new manager this time around and it looks like Woodward has actually learned from last year(See Mata deal). Moaners gonna moan I reckon.

The Mata deal was reported to be sorted by a 3rd party & a Fergie to Mourinho intervention to start with..

Last summers window was a wake up call, but yet we didnt address our CM problems in the January window either. Cabaye was available & we passed up on him & signed Mata instead - a luxury player we didnt need, but we surely love to death as a footballer & as a person of course.

There was bound to have been plenty of available top-class CM players in Jan if we were focussed on 4th spot, but we instead thought Mata was the key. Cabaye would have been ideal for us in my opinion & would have cost the same as Young ffs!
