I don't see where he would play to be honest. Ramsey is developing into a top quality player and Wishere is also going to improve. They have Cazorla and Ozil for the attacking role, if anything they need a DM type of player.

They also need a right back and possibly 2 strikers, I don't see Arsenal dropping £35m on Cesc.

Sorry I didn't mean to say Moyes wanted to say van Gaal. But yeah if you believe that bullshit with him not being on Van Gaals list this discussion ends here.

I mean it doesn't make any sense that a guy like Delaney reported just 2 days ago that we were confident of landing him (a few days after LVG became our manager and he probably gave them a list of players, if not earlier) and now he isn't on that list but if a briefed media report states it, no other way around ... You really think that he just needed to go to the board and say he wants to leave after Pep played him the most of all his midfielders last season? Don't think so

Woodward botched the whole summer 2013 at least as bad as Moyes and lies like this make him look less guilty.

Why would he be on Van Gaal list since he was already on the club list, list submitted to Van Gaal and apparently accepted to some extent.

And 2 days ago delaney said that we were close to sign Kroos because he agreed on a contract and that the only thing missing was a deal with Bayern Munich. That's a very premature conclusion because if you don't have a deal with the club, the signing is far from done.

I get a feeling that most of our signings will be under 22 and Dutch
same here... It may take some time to sign a top player and if lvg isn t happy with those identified by moyes, we ll have to go for 2 nd tier players.

The board won't allow that. Woodward has huge pressure on his shoulders. He has to land world class players, basically everyone is saying we need rebuilding, Woody himself said we need rebuilding and no one will forget the last summer fiasco. We will sign world class players.

I love your optimism. I don't think Woodward has it in him.

You still can't go against the coach. Ultimately it is him who decides who we sign and who we don't? No?

It's not like he will say no to Fabregas, Kroos. It's great he wants young, talented players he knows but if he has the opportunity to work with top players he will never in a million year say no to that.

Well reports say he has said no to Kroos.

Kroos stays at Bayern, Fabregas goes to Arsenal and we'll end up signing a sick note for an overpriced fee.. memories of last summer.

I know reporters often indulge in pure conjecture but the Kroos situation is baffling, with Jamie Jackson, in my opinion a reporter that has little to say of any real import, suddenly leading a charge of British press opposing the Kroos news that has been reported in the past 24 hours.
Perhaps I'm bored of it all because I really want us to sign Kroos...watching him this season reminded me of the magnificent Paul Scholes. I hope the likes of Jackson, Ducker, Ogden are all wrong...

Clasie

Nobody on here gave two shits about the guy until van Gaal came in. We've got guys that watch him every week posting here that say he isn't good enough, yet some think he'd be a good buy. I'll be worried if van Gaal starts this bullshit again, he's already been burnt using this approach at Barca.

The amount of players who have supposedly verbally agreed a move to United in the last 12 months is quite a lot.

Seems Woody has forgotten he needs the other clubs to agree to sell to complete the transfer.

Jacko is at it again...

Looks like the original plans have changed.

Manchester United are set for disappointment over Bayern Munich’s Thomas Müller, one of their prime summer transfer targets, with the attacking midfielder not minded to leave the German champions and the club not wanting to sell him.

There has also been a rowing back of interest from United in Barcelona’s Cesc Fábregas, with Louis van Gaal also ending the club’s pursuit of Toni Kroos, Müller’s Bayern team-mate.

If any journo is going to predict transfer failures on our part then I'm glad it's Jackson. His hit rate isn't great.

Still not liking this developing tone though.

No interest in Kroos, Fabregas or Muller would be fine, as long as we have other viable targets. Who the hell is there though?

Koke :drool::drool:

He said is Cesc "is not a priority" either. We'll be running out of players to sign soon.

Yaya Toure. He'll get all the birthday cakes he wants.

So assuming we don't get either Fabregas or Kroos, who's the creative CM that we'll be looking at? Surely it will be a significant drop in quality after those two.

Him, Clasie, Vidal, Strootman and to a certain extent Carvalho.

Surely the Carvalho boat has sailed at this stage?

Koke and Herrera are the only two I can think of and neither seem that likely.

I'd really love to know what we're thinking at this stage. Early days but changing our targets likes this strikes me as the sort of thing that could lead to another summer debacle.

Especially weird as LVG said we started talking to him a couple of days after Moyes went. How are we only changing focus now?

To be honest I don't think the press have the first clue who LVGs targets are. Seems like the club probably came out to brief the press to quash the rumours that a deal had been signed when it hadn't. However I doubt the press have any idea who we're after.

With Mata and Kagawa in our team we don't need a creative midfielder but two box to box, one offensive and one defensive.

Is he all that good though?

Yeah, Koke no chance. We probably could get Herrera but he'd be expensive and I think probably is a significant drop in quality compared to Kroos and Fabregas. Regular watchers of his will know better but he doesn't sound anywhere near worth the price he's touted at.

Yeah I'm worried about the summer. With Moyes we knew who were going to be after, not it's more up in the air.

Old bit off info -
De Telegraaf again say Van Gaal's budget is €100m and they think it'll be spent in Bundesliga. http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/from-holland-van-gaal-has-100m-budget-and-will-spend-it-in-bundes…

Maybe we don't have a big transfer budget and planning to buy some upcoming young talents or promote from our academy.!? I hope van gaal is not over confident with his philosophy ( giving youth a chance etc).

Given Woordward briefed investors and said our wage bill will be rising, as well as the squad number dropping (due to no European football) I can't imagine our focus will just be on youth.
