Probably because he was promising the arrival of thiago last summer and it didn't happen
So like everyone saying how close we were, even his own dad? And because we pulled out of that, now they were all bullshitters? Right.

I'm rather glad we've missed out on this bloke, don't particularly rate him and on that sort of money.. a typical Man City signing.

I don't understand why he'd go to City when they have Zabaleta who's more or less the best in the league at that spot... Could either Sagna or Zabaleta play another position?
sitting on the bench? for the reported 120k.. surely Arsenal could come... somewhere... close and he'd be 1st choice.

Hey don't shoot the messenger... I'm just saying why people don't like his tweets

Incredibly strange deal considering they have the best Right back in the league, and they want to sign a 30 year old back up for higher wages (as far as I know).

Last summer we all said we wanted a midfielder...any midfielder. And we got Fellaini.

This summer we want Fabregas, Kroos or Vidal. End of.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but hasn't Sagna been played at CB a few times? possibly looking for somebody who can fill in along the back

Look we have a manager with a clear philosophy now. We don't know the circumstances but the Kroos deal is off. van Gaal knows what he wants to do with this team and now trust him ffs.

Why's the Kroos deal off? Was it ever on? Christ I'm confused and the window isn't even open yet.

Northcroft is the journalist who wrote that piece in the Times defending Moyes, so I reckon he had an idea what Moyes had planned. He has been on MUTV a few times too. Last time he said Shaw was close to signing for us.

I think we wanted Kroos and still do but after Bayern saying today he isn't going anywhere, all the "Van Gaal called the deal off and wants to build his own team" stuff is just a face saving exercise, in my opinion.

It's only 22nd of May. We've got potentially another 101 days of this.

101 days? If we don't do any business before the world cup, I can't see us getting all the players we need in that very limited timeframe between the end of the world cup, preseason and the start of the season.

Do we take from this then that we're not after many, if any, of the players we originally thought and that the press don't actually know who we're trying to sign?

We know that Woodward is briefing the media and is a bullshitter. We've been in talks with Van Gaal for weeks and you really think that guys like Delaney, who broke the Mata transfer, don't have good sources? This all seems like a cover up for Woodward being pathetic again. The way I read it: We were confident of landing him, had an agreement with the player but Bayern Munich told us to feck off. Instead of another rejection, Woodward is briefing the media again.

Yep I would image so. My guess being Shaw was the only one from the list of players(that we known about)on Moyes list that Van Gaal also wanted.

There is absolutely no sense there.

Woodward doesn't have to cover anything, you can't land every player you are targeting, if the player's club refuse to do business, you go to the next target.
And it's probably what's happening, Van Gaal probably think that it is unnacessary to waste time with Bayern Munich, like Barcelona didn't insist with Thiago Silva.

An other thing, journos don't know shit about Van Gaal targets that's why they are tenacious with "Moyes Targets".

So now tell me the sense behind it, that even guys with good contacts like delaney said that we're confident of landing him and now all of a sudden he wasn't even on Moyes list? Yeah right, something changed in the last 24h and sorry for not believing it that all of a sudden they looked at their targets list and saw that Kroos wasn't even on it.

Van Gaal doesn't do anything with transfers, he just names the player he wants and that's what he said this week.

For me the most logical thing is for Woodward trying to save face after another botched transfer target. Like he did after the Herrera saga.

I get a feeling that most of our signings will be under 22 and Dutch

He is not on Van Gaal list and still on Moyes list.

And Woodward doesn't have to save face, if Kroos really wants to go he is doing it wrong, he just needed to ask to the board but he didn't do that he played with them, now they are doing a Ballack 2.0

Sorry I didn't mean to say Moyes wanted to say van Gaal. But yeah if you believe that bullshit with him not being on Van Gaals list this discussion ends here.

I mean it doesn't make any sense that a guy like Delaney reported just 2 days ago that we were confident of landing him (a few days after LVG became our manager and he probably gave them a list of players, if not earlier) and now he isn't on that list but if a briefed media report states it, no other way around ... You really think that he just needed to go to the board and say he wants to leave after Pep played him the most of all his midfielders last season? Don't think so

Woodward botched the whole summer 2013 at least as bad as Moyes and lies like this make him look less guilty.

John Cross is reliable with Arsenal news though. The Fabregas deal seems even more unlikely now.
