Think the source is German or someone from the Kroos agents which is why you aren't hearing anything from Ogden, DT or anyone who get their scoop from United people.

All you need is Goal.com, Daily Star, Metro, a bunch of ITKs on twitter to confirm it and you got a full house.

So in transfer fairy dairy land we could get:

Shaw £27m
Kroos £20m
Fabregas £40m

That leaves £13m off that £100m figure the other day. With some sales could we add a winger and a CB?

Or if you listen to other reports we will have £113m left off the spending figure - who knows if we've actually got the £200m to spend, but I think it will definitely be more than £100m in the kitty. The club knows we need at least 5-7 players minimum and they need to show the cash for that.

I think LVG said there is no budget, just a bunch of players who they will attempt to sign.

Indeed. The £20m Kroos figure shocked me a bit which made me think £100m might be doable.

The quiet, shy ginger one has been mouthing off again. Got to agree with him though.

Full Scholes blog. Quite outspoken when it comes to Rooney and Woodward. Shame he won't be staying around but he'd do a great job in the media. Imagine MNF with Neville, Carragher and Scholes.

With only a year left on his contract though, Bayern might be willing to accept that, especially if that he's determined to join us and threatens to leave on a free.

If we are genuinely interested, I think Fabregas could be a target we weren't expecting attempt to get this summer (after last year anyway), which could be pushing that transfer budget higher.

£20m is probably a fair price. I just remember us getting shafted for Ashley Young a few years back. He was in a similar contract situation and we paid £12m for him.

What price do you think Fabregas will be?

We paid £17m actually.

I reckon the £40m (which is about €50m) fee you've given would be about the right price, but it's also being reported he can go for €40m, which would be a great price for him. I just reckon this would be additional cost to the transfers we already lined up.

fecking hell why does every thread, regardless of subject, have to descend into slagging off either Young or Rooney?

Because it is relevant to the £20m Kroos figure

No it isn't. Unless every transfer within 15-20% valuation of the other is relevant? Whatever the angle, transfers, wage, performance, selling, buying it's always somehow immediately relevant to Ashley Young.

We should sign...cos young is shit

He should be on...because Young is paid too much

We should pay...because Young cost this.

I agree he's been shit for us by the poor fecker is becoming the Jewish Poochie in 1930s Germany around here, the scapegoat for everything and mentioned all the time regardless of relevance or subject.

Where have I said that all our troubles are down to Ashley Young? Am I fan of Young? Nope, but our troubles are much bigger than 1 or 2 certain players.

Where have I benchmarked his transfer against other transfers discussed in here like Shaw or Fabregas?

I benchmarked him vs Kroos for the fact that they are both in a similar contract situation.

I also suggested that Villa got a good deal out of us. That's down to our money man and his counterpart at Villa. That's not Ashley's fault.

Nice to see Scholes thinks Kroos is the first part of the puzzle.

Surely 20 million is way off the mark, though?

Why? They paid 0 for him and he has 1 year left on his contract. They also bought Thiago for a similar fee...

£20m is around €24m, so I don't think it's that wide of the mark. He wants to leave and he only has one year left on his contract.

This is true. Football fans on the whole are a strange beast.

Decent player who isn't quite United level, gets paid a lot but puts in a proper shift and seems like a decent bloke. Yep he isn't good enough and he will probably move on, but why does that generate such utter hatred? Tends to be the armchair warriors primarily, who like nothing more than ranting on about how much they hate one of their own on the internet. I think it's an utter embarrassment when reading twitter and every tweet Young makes gets polluted by sad little scrotes who've never been to Old Trafford telling him to feck off. Same happened with Gibson and Cleverley, which if anything is even worse as they're lifelong reds. Half our fan base are utter bell ends.

Regardless of the above rant, you're right that Young has absolutely feck all relevance to Toni Kroos of 80% of the threads he's brought up in.

It's funny how £20 million is suddenly seen as a fair price for Kroos based on a newspaper article. It's obviously way below his valuation.

His contract is running out but his price will still be down to what clubs are willing to pay for him. If Bayern have to sell they will still will try to get as much as possible. I'm sure plenty of clubs would happily throw another 10 million onto that bid and also meet his wage demands.

Well we'll find out soon enough, something tells me your wrong though. The reported fee when we attempted in January was £25m

1 year left on his contract, blatantly unhappy? I'd say 20-25 is an accurate range.

What if hes already agreed to join us and the negotiations are simply between the clubs. Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal may be interested but what is that worth when they say "Well pay Bayern 35m" they accept and then Kroos says "Erm actually ive agreed a deal with United" then its up to the club to keep him or negotiate a better price for him with United at which point there is no reason for another club to even bid.

The market price of a top player in the last year of his contract seems to be in the region of 20-25m as seen with RVP who was MUCH MUCH more important to Arsenal than Kroos is to Bayern, who is essentially a stand in for Thiago. The only rival I could see going in for him would be Chelsea, but I dont think hes really the type of player Jose needs in his current team.

Also we cant under-estimate how much of a pull LVG is for German/Dutch/Spanish players, hes essentially their version of Fergie (Less accomplished ofcourse).

"Euro 2004 was a low, however. I had a really bad tournament, for one reason or another, playing on the left-hand side. Playing out wide was not the issue – it is easy to make that excuse."

Kagawa fanboys take fecking note!

Ashley Young's treatment on Twitter is awful. I saw a tweet of his the other day and the replies were not kind or necessary. However I don't see how any of that is relevant to what I said about his fee? We are talking about his fee alone.

A few years back I worked as an estimator. We was taught to get a feel for prices based on previous jobs we had done. That's why I would look at Young's fee. That said someone else mentioned Thiago's fee and that would also be a very good benchmark, maybe more relevant as it is more recent, in Euros (accounting for exchange rate fluctuations over time). However that said, given the Thiago fee, Young's fee and the one proposed for Kroos ... I would still say that we overpaid for Young, and that is our fault and not his.

I hope you are right. It would be the bargain of the decade imo. A top class German midfielder from Bayern Munich signed for less money than Southamptons 18 year old left back.

At the end of the day no club has to accept a bid so him agreeing a move to us doesn't force anything. In fact without agreement with the clubs he shouldn't technically even be talking to us. However if he has his heart set on moving here and is completely unwilling to go elsewhere then we are obviously in a much better bargaining position. Do we know for sure this is the case?

Genuine question I'm posting from work so I'm not able to follow everything that's being reported.
