Giggs and Gary Neville were away doing their coaching badges last summer iirc at one of the tournaments (U21s Euros?)
Giggs was also effusive in his praise of Thiago last June.
“I’ve seen him in several matches – he is a good player. There is always a lot of speculation about United and good players. We will have to see where he ends up, but he is a great talent.”
Yet we think he was overruling David Moyes?

That's a really silly attitude that will only get us mediocre English players.

Not really worked in last 20 years...

We build teams around players that want to pay in red, hence why we fecked off Tevez and brought in Berb.

Interesting. I wonder who is feeding these anti-Giggs comments...

Would Giggs really have had a say anyway that would matter over everyone else saying that he should be signed?

If true don't see what the problem is. Giggs isn't saying he isn't Utd quality in his ability, just his attitude.

You want players that will do anything to play in the red shirt, not someone that is whoring themselves around Europe, signing shirts and using social media as some form of Transfer Da Vinci Code.

Those days are long gone. The restrictions put on English clubs academies basically crippled development and put PL clubs 5 years behind at least when developing young talent. If all those restrictions are redressed and a fundamental shift towards proper coaching at young ages happens then the days of local kids growing up to be world class players wanting to play for the local club will return.

I don't believe it's true for a second but if it is leaked from the Moyes camp what kind of prat is he?

Does he really think it'll enhance his reputation by revealing he let a junior coach dictate his transfer policy?

And if that was the matter it would also reflect badly on Moyes, deferring such a huge decision to a rookie like Giggs is height of indecision .

Exactly! Which is why I'm confused over this.

From people who talked to him at the LMA awards, they described him as very bitter about the whole thing.
The fella who reported this, is indeed friendly with Moyes and was pro Moyes.
So, if it came from Moyes, what does it achieve? If anything it makes him look even worse!

He cancelled a transfer because a man, whom he never worked with before, whom he barely knew, told him to. All this despite the fact, the man who gave him the job, organised the transfer....It makes no sense whatsoever and just reflects badly on Moyes. Regardless if it's true or if it came from him

Why is the BBC guy present in the meeting where transfer targets are being discussed? I didn't understand his accent well but it seemed like he was saying that he was present there.

Is anyone seriously entertaining the idea that Giggs had the authority to make decisions on transfer targets last summer? It's nonsense. He wouldn't even have had that power during his spell as interim manager.

Nah....Personally, I believe it's Moyes' pals coming out with utter dross....And it's having the opposite effect on what it's supposed to do

I suppose Giggs told Moyes to pull the plug on Strootman & Garay too and to overpay for Fellaini and get rid of all of Fergie's coaches too.

Thiago, Strootman and Garay would have really made a major difference. Hindsight of course, but it looks so obvious now. All three have played really well this season (Thiago has been injured a lot tbf). At first I wasn't keen on Garay, but having watched him a couple more times he looks a real good defender.

SAF, why you leave? :(

Ok everyone .... Ignore the bollox. Deep breathe. We're signing Shaw and Kroos.

This can't be happening surely. I for one, refuse to get drawn into these muppetry debacles when we all know what happened last summer....

£20m ffs. I think that MEN article might be slightly off the mark :lol::lol:

I don't know how reliable M.E.N are, or what their track record is like, but shouldn't a Manchester based outlet hold some credence? Certainly more so than the likes of the Mail, Mirror and Express anyway.

Am I the only one who still giggles like a schoolboy inside when someone says "It's in the MEN"?
