We know his value, we know they're willing to sell seeing as they accepted an offer from PSG. We've just become embarrassing in the transfer market.

It's beyond embarrassing at this point. Shambolic comes to mind now.

Ed is the embodiment of mediocrity, the man is embarrassing both himself and the club with his ineptitude at this point.
We have a clear run at our targets and we still cannot land them.

Shaw and Herrera were players Van Gaal asked for. Rojo similarly would be too.

You are assuming that Van Gaal had some separate list of players completely as well. Except maybe obvious targets like Hummels, Robben or Schweinsteiger etc.. i doubt he had special requests outside of our scouting network and what we were anyway working on.

Haven't seen anything reported to the contrary as well. There's been reports of us wanting the whole dutch team due to his list but if we did we would have gotten almost all of them.

Shaw and Herrera are transfers United had underway which Van Gaal approved. That's not the same thing.
It's strange how you say I am making assumptions, based on actual reports, yet you're making some pretty wild assumptions of your own, delivering them as fact. You honestly believe all the players Van Gaal requested needed scouting? Or that we just happened to be working on getting say Robben before Van Gaal asked (if he indeed did?)?

It was reported Van Gaal submitted a wants list to Woodward upon taking the job. I have no idea who was on them. I doubt you do too.

If he leaves the club, it will likely be for good. I doubt we're going to loan him out to a Portuguese side just so he can regain his form. If we can't go it with us, we should sell him (unless Woodward is trying to offload his wages to try and justify a big transfer).
The thing is selling him right now might not be so easy he is on big wages and has hardly played any football for 2 years now it would be a big gamble for any team to buy him right now. If he goes to Sporting on loan and has a good season we might be able to get some money for him next summer. In the end everything comes down to what LVG thinks about him if he sees a role for Nani in his team he will stay.

DiMarzio reporting that an extension could be reached with As Roma and Bayern Munich only met his agent, haven't bid yet

This Bundesliga aktuell was honestly shit without any kind of information

Real Madrid better be braced for that bid, Juve have been for the past 3 months! Our Woodward takes his time..

Where has it been reported that Van Gaal didn't have Herrera and Shaw on that list of targets which he and Giggs have said they determined along with Woodward and United scouts ?

What you are saying is Van Gaal wanted many players outside of this. That doesn't add up with his comments then after taking over. As for Robben he confirmed Van Gaal told him he had space open for him, but he politely refused.

With two weeks left in the window we're bound to overpay on anyone we sign. Best to think of it as a sort of desperation tax.

Plus we probably want to get rid of Nani anyway.
This is the thing for me. It keeps being trotted out that we're waiting for closer to the end of the window to drive prices down but surely when teams know how desperate we are and how few options we have it'll only serve to drive the price up?

What an awful deal if true.. Why not just sell Nani? Rojo for 15m is a fair price. Nani on top of that plus United paying his wages is ridiculous.
Tell them to piss off and we sign who at this rate? We won't sell Nani for more than 10m anyway. Getting rid of player we dont want and buy player manager wants for 5m less(than his buyout clause) is okayish. Nani seems to lose all his interest, it's better to loan the fecker out and sell him later for a decent price if he does good in Portugal.

I don't get people ..... we can't play hardball at this point. Let's buy the players we need, eat the cost, raise our ranking by getting back in the CL, and then next year play hard ball.

Waiting definitely has the opposite effect. As you say they know we are desperate and supposedly have money. Ed's inexperience is showing through.

I'd rather pay the extra 5m or so for his release clause and try to get 10m for Nani, that way he's off the wages as well. Or just keep Nani as an option for the wing, he was after one of the few who looked decent on saturday. This way we're giving away Nani while still paying his wages.

Exactly. Everton basically set the precedent for how to negotiate with us last year. If I was the selling club I'd be doing everything in my power to delay until as close as possible to deadline day.

I said nothing. It was reported Van Gaal submitted a wants list to Woodward and approved the transfers of Herrera and Shaw. I don't really know what your point is anymore.

If Herrera and Shaw were on Van Gaal's want list submitted to Woodward, as you suggest, then Woodward has already bagged two and Van Gaal shouldn't be heading for a showdown with him.

Think about it... We've signed two players, that's no secret. Every other club in the league, bar Exeter have signed 3 or more therefore we are second to last in terms of players signed. It's basic maths.

It means nothing though, I'd take the two we have signed over most other clubs signings. It's a useless stat as in quantity we might be behind some league 2 side who might have signed 4 free transfer shite players from the league below them. We're "behind them" according to that stat but would you swap Shaw and Herrera for 4 poor quality league 2 players?
I haven't kept up with every clubs transfers and I'm not usually one to make estimations. I'm sorry to have offended you and your superior math skills. I shall retreat now.

Didn't LvG actually say that Herrera and Shaw had been lined up by the club beforehand and he gave the approval because they were players he liked? That would certainly imply that they weren't actually on the list of player he presented to the club.
